Step aboard the historic Rip Van Winkle and find a seat on one of the decks: choose between chairs in the lower, enclosed deck or bench seating in the upper, partially covered deck. Settle in for a cruise down the Hudson to Hyde Park, doubling back to return to Kingston.
Listen to your guide's engaging narration regarding the sights and landmarks on shore. Pass millionaires' sumptuous estates, sleepy riverside hamlets and quaint historic lighthouses. Relax and enjoy the refreshing river breeze. Be sure to bring your camera for great photo ops of the picturesque natural scenery along the river, including vineyards, orchards and views of the looming Catskill Mountains.
If you get hungry, head down to the lower deck's snack bar. Alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages are available for purchase from the fully stocked bar. Restrooms are located on board for your convenience.

- The boat has a lower enclosed deck, a middle deck which is a shaded but otherwise open are, and an open air upper deck with bench seating.
- A fully stocked bar with alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a snack bar with light fare such as hot dogs & fresh popped popcorn is available on the lower main deck at your own expense.

- Outside food and beverages are not allowed on board the boat
- There is plenty of seating on the boat, both inside and on the upper deck, which consists mainly of bench-style seating; the main lower deck has chairs; seating is on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early if you’d like to sit in a particular area of the boat

It was a nice day and great to be on the River! In my mind, they over-booked the trip since 20-30 people had to sit down stairs. They allowed people to bring chairs up from downstairs, but having more up there to begin with would seem more organized (and we didn’t not arrive at the last minute!) there was also less narration than we expected (which might be a plus for some people, but we love the history part! :-)

If you want to buy food or water on board it’s very expensive. You can’t bring your own except no one checked our bags.

Lovely, easy, delightful experience. It was like going back in time. The information given on the ride was interesting and thought provoking.
The captain was a jovial, helpful man. The bartenders were helpful and one of them went out of his way to help me charge my phone.
Well worth it. After a day of sightseeing it was nice to a seat, relax, have a drink and learn some new things.

We were welcomed aboard by friendly staff who made our journey special! Although we were few in number, they sailed! We enjoyed a chat with the competent captain, had some hot chocolate from the snack bar and enjoyed the sights along the mighty Hudson. The narration taught us a lot and whetted our appetites for more at the maritime museum. We will definitely bring grandchildren along this summer for another trip. Or two!

Nothing to tell. Cancelled due to bad weather. Only options were a refund or book for the next day. Unfortunately we had to leave so I opted for the 5-7 day refund. I tried to book a future trip for the fall. Fall foliage but was unable to do so!

Great scenery and staff with good facilities on board. Unfortunately we couldn’t hear the commentary (which was really important)on top deck as volume and direction of speakers not pointing right direction.
