Seeing the multiple pods of dolphins was exciting

Overall fun sailing experience, my only issue was the hidden costs. While the listing does in fact state there are "Fees and Taxes" not included, no reasonable person would expect to spend an additional $160 for the group. Literally 30% of the cost of this excursion is in HIDDEN fees.

Bryan, reached out to me when making his reservation. He asked me what the fees were and I alerted him the cost of the fees which are the LA county boarding fee and tax, which is used to pay Los Angeles County for the commercial docking space to legally pick you up for a Commerical charter. He was given the opportunity to proceed with the reservation or get a refund. He chose to proceed with the sail despite complaining about this costs, in which I have no control
Over. If you were to book directly on my website it tells you the cost and fees up front before checking out. However, he booked through a third party website that discloses these fees in a tab called inclusions and exclusions. As the merchant I do not maintain third party websites. It states on the listing to contact the merchant directly for the cost of fees and taxes stated in the exclusions. Bryan followed those instructions, booked knowing those fees, and then wrote a review stating he had a great time however gave me, the merchant a 1 star review for fees he was aware of prior to showing up for his excursion. Seems as though there is something deeply concerning about Bryan. There are no hidden fees, and a reasonable person would not give a 1 star review for an excursion they had an amazing time at and knew the fees prior to the adventure.

Did not get what i paid for, the ad states a trip to Santa Monica and Malibu, but in fact we did not even reached Santa monica peer.
in addition i was charged for tax and fees $165 for no reason for any fees , while tax is 9.5% in california, and the charge amount was not mentioned during the booking.

Sorry to read you had a negative experience. Unfortunately, as the merchant i don’t get the opportunity to maintain 3rd party websites. If you book through my website you will get a breakdown of costs up front. However, you booked through Viator and they present the taxes and fees and what’s included in two tabs titled inclusions and exclusions. In the exclusion you will see it states that taxes and fees are excluded. Please contact merchant for these fees. I’m sorry you didn’t take the time to contact me. However, you were made aware of the fees in the confirmation details and charter contract prior to the adventure. You chose to proceed. The exclusions are la county Commerical boarding fee and tax. The boarding fee is paid to LA county for the Commerical dock to be able to pick you up commercial. It is the same price weather your sail is 1 hour or 10
Hours as they give me 15 minutes for pick up and drop off. It’s a set price by the county. I don’t get to negotiate this price with the county. As far as sailing to Santa Monica or Malibu it depends on the winds as we are sailing under ful sails. Some days the winds blow out of the west and some days the Santa Anna winds are blowing from the east. Depending the wind patterns I go an array of places as we adjust our heading based on the winds of today. Hence the saying I can’t control the wind but I can control the direction of my sails. Therefore, some days we sail straight out to sea to get offshore views opposed to sailing close to the coastline. In any means, we deliver a therapeutic sailing experience, so I’m sorry you didn’t get to see the Santa Monica pier but we did share an alternate experience based on the winds of that day.

I had the most amazing. My husband and daughter surprised me with this wonderful 40th birthday gift, of selling away for a few hours. It was perfect! The weather was beautiful, and the selling ride was smooth. The guy made us a wonderful charcuterie snack. And gave us the best wine. and the selling ride was smooth. I was in bliss ❤️

We loved our sailing trip with Captain Mancini last weekend; it was smooth sailing, literally and figuratively! We saw sea lions, commorants, pelicans, dogs on paddle boards and other fun sights. The hors d’oeuvres and rose were delicious. A great way to see LA!

We enjoyed every aspect of the excursion, from pointing out the sea life, watching the dolphins in their habitat. The calm and peaceful environment. The friendliness of the captain. We would recommend everyone experience this excursion.

Captain Mancini was great. He was kind and easy-going. He let us decide where we wanted to be on the boat. He served wonderful Hors D’ouvres and Rose.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and highly recommend sailing with him.

Would have been much better if the weather had been better, however, it was cold & wet, with no rescheduling or cancellation option. Lack of wind meant that most of the 3 hours was spent using the engine rather than sail. Whilst it was included in the small-print (unlike our other two Viator trips - where the price quoted was the final price) this trip was subject to an additional $150.00 for "Fees & Taxes"). Could have been a great day if the we had been allowed to reschedule to a warm sunny day.

Hi Alan, Thank you for the review. I am truly sorry you are disappointed in the experience specifically the weather and the taxes you had to pay. The fees / Taxes were communicated to you in every step of the booking process including the advertisement itself under exclusions, a reminder to you when I accepted the booking, the charter agreement you signed via DOCUSIGN, and the confirmation details you received. Other Viator experiences don’t include the taxes because they don’t have to pay for commercial docking spaces that i have to pay for to operate this experience with the business license I carry for it. I separate these commercial docking fees because it goes to a 3rd party and to be able to give you the best deal possible i can’t have Viator taking a revenue share from the commercial fees I have to pay to this 3rd party. So until the software of Viator updates and offers a way to do this efficiently i have to do it manually. Unfortunately, the weather is the only attribute i can’t control. I always reschedule or cancel if it is raining, or if there is a small craft advisory, or gale warning in which it would be deemed unsafe to sail. I usually don’t cancel due to clouds or overcast as there is usually a lot of wildlife still to be seen. Majority of my clients here on Viator are coming from out of state or out of country so it can be difficult to reschedule with small window of opportunity for their scheduled duration times. However if you had communicated your needs directly with your window of stay i would have been happy to reschedule for the best day possible that i had available. I hope in the future instead of writing should’ve, would’ve, could’ve needs via keyboard to just communicate with the merchant you are doing business with as i am sure most business owners would go out of their way to be helpful and give you the best experience possible. It was a pleasure spending a moment in time with you, and I hope to sail with you again with perfect 10-15 knot winds and not cloud in the bay!! Until that time your sea lion friends, and favorite Captain / buddy awaits you in Marina del Rey!! Hope to see you again one day for another adventure!
