Very erratic guide.... But saw the aurora

Justin_D, Nov 2024
We saw the aurora and photos were taken, so in that respect this tour was or course worthwhile overall. We do not yet have the photos so can't comment on their quality. The guide however was extremely erratic to the point people looked nervous, and at times it was even comical. He was all over the road (ok, if there's noone on the other side I guess it doesn't matter so much... But it was alarming especially at the start of the tour as he was rooting around whilst in motion, answering calls etc. it turned out he was looking for the headphones that were right behind his head.) He also did not know how to manage the heating or the indoor lights indicating he had never driven this particular bus. He also drove over some big rocks at the start of the tour and there was some worrying scraping underneath the bus as he did so! Once I helped him identify the headphones were behind him he put them on but the mic wasn't close enough to his mouth so half the bus presumably couldn't hear him. Multiple times after stopping and the aurora being faintly visible he asked all of us if we had suitable phones for taking photos.... Only later when they became stronger did he confirm he did indeed have a camera for professional photos. Strange. I think this guide was simply unprepared and poor at explaining things. Hot chocolate was an afterthought, and I myself had to serve half the people because he went wandering!
