Great day. Awesome guide. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information. It was safe. The hiking is moderate but it can difficult for older people or not in good physical condition.
Blue lagoon was amazing.
Highly recommend this tour.

Such a unique experience! The hike was somewhere between easy and moderate, depending on your activity level. There were parts that were steeper, but they are relatively short. Our group had a range of ages and activity levels, and everyone was able to complete the whole thing. Proper footwear is a must and especially a shoe with ankle support if possible.
Hler was an excellent guide!!! It is clear how much he loves his job and that makes it so fun to listen to him. I learned a lot about the volcano and about Iceland more generally. The blue lagoon after was really nice after a morning of hiking!

We had a great day hiking up to the new lava fields, even though the volcano was not erupting. Dress in warm, sturdy clothes and have rain gear/hiking boots or trail sneakers (no slip on Birks etc!). Our hike wasn’t windy but it did rain and I was glad to have an umbrella and poncho. Our guide set a quick pace up the mountain so we could enjoy more time at the lava fields, but this would be a struggle for anyone who is not particularly active. The lava fields were incredible and we saw steam rising from vents and felt the warmth emanating from the ground. Truly amazing!
We ate lunch in nearby Grindavik (which was almost destroyed by a lava flow a few years ago; only 100 of the original 3000 residents have returned.)
After our vigilance hike, a trip to the Blue Lagoon spa offered a much needed rest. It was quite busy but our guide quickly checked us in for a 2.5 hour visit. This was a good amount of time to relax in the milky blue waters, enjoy an included non-alcoholic drink, and take lots of pictures. I had brought a waterproof phone pouch from home and was very glad to have it since the ones for sale at the spa were quite expensive. If you don’t have a waterproof pouch I wouldn’t take your phone into the lagoon! Also, we were cautioned not to wet our hair, wear jewelry, rx or expensive glasses in the lagoon since the minerals could damage them.
I really enjoyed this trip and would recommend it to anyone who is ready for a tough hike and some relaxation afterwards!

It was awesome, took a couple stops on the way to the hike then we hiked for over 3 hours up mountains and into lava fields and explored all around volcano

The hike was a lot more difficult than I anticipated and I am used to long hikes. Its the terrain itself that’s tricky. I felt like I was training to be a mountain goat lol. If you catch it on a windy day like I did, be prepared! The icelandic winds are no joke even on a day when they are considered mild like I had. The sights are incredible, the guide is lovely, truly his personality was a gem of the day. Also, they stop for lunch on the hike, so pack something with you if you’d like to eat as there are not other opportunities until you reach the blue lagoon. The blue lagoon is a welcome treat for soaking. It’s very commercialized though.

This was a great trip. Our guide Toby was very friendly and knowledgeable. We went to a beautiful viewpoint as the sun rose over the mountains, which was a highlight. It was very misty and snowing when we got into the Blue Lagoon but this made it a rather magical experience. I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone who fancies a bit of exercise before a soak in the warm lagoon.

Guide was very knowledgeable and interesting, explaining everything all along the drive. Great to combine big hike with Blue lagoon Hot Springs at the end

Wow what an amazing day! From the start our guide Hler was so engaging, interesting and knowledgeable. There a few stops before the hike including hot springs which was great to see. The volcano hike was brilliant with so many amazing stops and photo opportunities. Walking across a lava field still smoking was awe inspiring. After a hike in the freezing cold, the blue lagoon to end the day was just perfect. Free mud masks and drink! It was lovely. On the way home Hler gave us a history of Iceland it was great we could’ve listened to him all day. Thank you for an brilliant day!

Breathtaking. Could see solidified lava fields. no fresh red hot lava at the time of our hike but there is still hot air coming out of the rocks below. Lovely experience and good weather. Our hike was about 9km. It felt generally fine to hike without hiking sticks, but some hikers brought their own and felt more comfortable with it. To each his/her own. My guide Hler was very informative and included driving around the ghost town of Grindavík where we could still see effects of the latest eruption. Great reward for ourselves at the blue lagoon after!

We would highly recommend this experience. We had a fantastic guide who was so enthusiastic and would answer any questions that our group had (9 on the walk in total) there is a steep incline but so worth it for the views. Blue lagoon was okay and we spent two hours there which to us was ample but the highlight was being able to walk over the Lava field

The vehicle was clean and comfortable. The tour was organized, thorough and our guide was excellent and friendly. I would not hesitate to book with this company again. We had appropriate hiking buffs so we could be easily visible on the lava field and I felt very safe.
Sandra_W, Aug 2025
The hike was quite strenuous, but the guide was great. We told him we were comfortable stopping short and waiting for him and the younger, more fit guests to go on. I did reach my goal of getting to the first outcrop of the 2021 lava flow.
Relaxing in the Blue Lagoon was wonderful.

Roman7 was an excellent tour guide. This was a comprehensive and incredibly beautiful tour of some of Iceland’s must-see spots. Highly recommend!
Peter_R, Jul 2025
Great trip - the volcano erupted 5 days before so hike was amazing. The sounds, the heat and the sights - amazing. 10km hike - easy for those who walk in countryside regularly. Blue lagoon - so relaxing!

Blue lagoon was amazing.
Highly recommend this tour.

Fabulous day out with Gut, our super knowledgeable guide. He kept us well
Informed all day, it never felt rushed and we had some amazing experiences.
The hike was different to what we expected (my misunderstanding as I thought we were walking for 2 hours and going up a volcano), it was a bit challenging as the lava underfoot is rocky in places but not arduous or a long hike, plenty of time for photos and a surprise treat whilst on the lava.
The place we stopped for lunch (not included, and thus was clearly advertised) was great and as it’s Iceland not cheap but the fish and chips were great. Driving around Grindavík was particularly moving.
The blue lagoon was great too and we were able to upgrade in advance to the premium package instead of standard for an extra drink and extra masks for a small additional fee/
If you are interested in volcanoes this is a must do tour, and was probably the best tour over our 9 days in Iceland.

It’s about hope on hope off to 3 spots ( super market , lack and restaurant ) and walk around lava field for an hour only
Then drop you for 2 hours at blue lagoon
Waste of time and money !
Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you for your feedback.
We are quite surprised by your comments, as the tour was operated exactly as planned, and the full itinerary was completed—including the volcano area visit with a guided walk through the lava fields, as well as the relaxing time at the Blue Lagoon with included admission. The stops along the way are part of the standard route for both comfort and scenic experience.
We’re unsure what your expectations were for this tour, but we’d be more than happy to discuss your experience in more detail and better understand your concerns. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at info@bustravel.is with your booking reference.
We appreciate your feedback and hope to hear from you soon.
Warm regards,

Fantastic tour, made more wonderful by the guide from the tour operator. Thanks to him we enjoyed every bit of our tour
Shirl_S, Jan 2025
Our guide was excellent and made the most of a rainy overcast day. The hike was not strenuous nor long. The spa/ lagoon was a marvelous ending to the excursion

Fantastic experience from the moment we got on the bus. Well organised and appreciated Richie corralling loads of people on different tours.
Chlear our guide was awesome. I've never known someone to be as attentive, informative and provided 1 on 1 support to everyone on the tour. He shared great info all along the tour, gave us an extra early stop at a lake and a natural hot spring.
There are no toilets until Blue Lagoon in the afternoon so be prepared to have a wild pit stop. Also no food purchase areas until blue lagoon so you will need drinks and snacks with you.
Hike up volcano was awesome. Our guide was running back and forth up and down checking on all the group that was split up with faster walkers and slower walkers. Stunning views. It was 4 hours worth of walking but the group took it steady, lots of stops along the route and the bus remains open so you can head back if you need to.
Blue lagoon was another highlight of this trip. Out of this world. 2 hours there.
Highly recommend and thank you to our guide for being so lovely throughout.

The tour was great with a moderately hike. The Tour guida was so informative and helpful. And needless to say the Blue Lagoon was extraordinary.Great combo!

Siggi our guide was brilliant, he was knowledgeable and made it a really fun experience. We had time at each stop to really take in the views and appreciate its beauty whilst learning. I would highly recommend this trip.

What an amazing day! I can highly recommend this tour, and 👍 to our guide Tom, he really went out of his way to show us all the good spots 👍

This was such a great experience, however I think it was made so special by it being a small group (16) and the tour guide (Mario). We started the day off with coffee. Mario incorporated several bonus stops like the dry fish farm, the deepest lake, and geothermal area. All prior to getting to the volcano hike parking lot. It made the trip fly by. He gave the opportunity for people to follow him or hike their own path as long as we all met back by the bus at an agreed upon time. He ensured everyone’s safety, kept us informed of so much culture and history of the area, and made sure everyone had pee breaks. On top of all of that we never once felt rushed or like we were on a schedule. We enjoyed the volcano hike super cool, mild to moderate difficulty. We then went to the blue lagoon where we had 2 hours to enjoy, which was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the warm water, utilize the free face mask and enjoy your free drink. On the way home we made two more bonus stops of a lava field and a cute town we drove through. Again great experience but largely due to Mario!

Tour guide was excellent, she gave history and information throughout the tour. The volcano hike was pretty, it was an easy ascend and descent. Anyone can do this hike no matter what level of athleticism. The blue lagoon is fun, just touristy.
Brent_M, Sep 2024
We passed a very memorable day in Iceland, exploring the lava fields, the geothermal areas, and witnessing an active volcano. Our guide Omar was extremely informative about the geology of Iceland and the history. We topped it off with lounging in the blue lagoon, which did not disappoint. Was a great way to relax and unwind. All in all, a fabulous tour!
Heather_B, Jul 2024
We had a horrible experience. My husband and I had difficulty finding the tour bus and then they left us without any warning! We were on the phone with them and they hung up on me. Dealing with this company and Viator is a waste of time and money! Don’t do it!!!
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Dear Heather,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear about your experience and we understand your frustration.
Our guide was indeed at the designated pickup location and made every effort to find you. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts, they were unsuccessful. Our customer support team also tried to contact you, but the phone number provided was invalid, which made it difficult to establish communication.
In order to keep the tour on schedule for all participants, the guide eventually had to leave. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and assure you that this was not our intention.
We value your input and will use it to improve our services. If you have any further concerns, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

Carmine, our guide was excellent! Very fun, eccentric guide. One note: the hike is definitely tougher than expected. I wouldn’t recommend this tour for someone that isn’t experienced. The blue lagoon after was great! Everything ran smoothly. Carmine even made a few extra stops along the way!
Tess_W, Dec 2023
Unfortunately the blue lagoon was closed but they offered a great bunch of alternatives. We stuck to doing just the hike with a lie in and a partial refund.
The tour guide was really funny and made the experience. It was heavy snow when we went - if you have the same I'd recommend an extra pair of socks!
No stops for food on our tour unlike some of the other tour days where there are gift shops, etc, so bring a packed lunch.
The hike was not tricky, I put it on Strava, granted I missed the start but it was little more than 5K total but with a 200m elevation. Perhaps they made it shorter cause of the snow.
Janet_B, Nov 2023
Our guide was great! Lots of info. Everything ran smoothly. Picked up in small bus then taken to larger bus. There was a couple of extra viewpoints on the way overlooking a lake and to see bubbling pools that were an added bonus. The walk on the old lava flow was amazing - so many shapes and textures. Blue lagoon was a nice ending to soak and relax. A day well spent.
