I would share to all travelers thinking about this experience….. Book It! Absolutely amazing, Carlo is such an amazing ambassador to Sicily and it’s rich culture and perhaps more importantly his ability to teach, share and provide such a beautiful experience.

One of the best experiences of our entire trip. We booked this as a family of four, two adults and two girls (ages 7 and 11), and it exceeded every expectation. It was completely private, which made it feel incredibly personal and special. We started in the garden harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables with our daughters, then moved inside to make fresh pasta from scratch. Carlo was patient, engaging, and made everyone feel involved, even our youngest was completely absorbed the whole time. The setting, the views of Palermo, the food we made together, all of it was world class. This wasn’t just a cooking class, it was a genuine experience we’ll talk about for years. If you’re visiting Sicily with family, do not skip this. Highest possible recommendation.

My husband & and I, along with our 2 friends were coming to an end of our 2 week vacation through Italy and Sicily, diid we really need another cooking class???? But I couldn't resist some of the other reviews written by Carlo's guests...and had to experience for myself. Read other reviews for details about what and how we cooked, but I'd like to tell you it was more like spending time with friends sharing stories while making your own pasta, and the best Cannoli's this Italian has ever had. So to answer my own question... Yes, we did need one more cooking class - Carlo's !

Cooking with Carlo was an AWESOME experience - so warm and friendly, like being invited to a dear friend's home in Sicily. The views from the terrace are spectacular. Learning to make the dough for cannolis and learning to make the pasta was a breeze with such a devoted and engaging teacher. And dining on the end result, with fresh tomatoes from the garden and home-produced olive oil, was a delight. It's been the highlight of our vacation so far. We will have great memories of the experience for years to come!

What an amazing cooking class! Carlo is not only an incredibly skilled chef, but also a fantastic host who made the entire experience fun, engaging, and full of laughter. A memorable, incredible, authentic Sicilian experience! Carlo and his family welcome you into their beautiful home, provide you with prosecco and aperitifs, give you a tour of their garden, and then teach you to make authentic Sicilian dishes using ingredients you handpick from their grounds. I was traveling with my best friend, and when we were planning, she had suggested booking a cooking class. We stumbled across Cooking With Carlo and were sold on the idea of being in someone’s home who had a breathtaking view and picking fresh ingredients from their sprawling grounds. Let me just tell you, it does not disappoint. We’ve had a lot of great adventures on this trip through Italy, but this experience will be a standout memory for years and years to come. Carlo sends you home with the recipes and the faith that you can recreate them in your own kitchen… fingers crossed it’s a fraction as good as what we created that evening 🤞🏼 I have a million pictures of the entire experience, but truly, they do not even come close to doing it justice! The view? Absolutely stunning. 11/10 would recommend to anyone near Palermo looking for a life-changing evening that includes tasty food, good company, and flowing vino 🍷

This was such a wonderful experience, from his wife arranging our transportation, having a snack to start, picking fresh vegetables in Carlo’s garden, making the delicious food and eating it with wine to compliment the courses. Carlo is patient kind and funny. We were a terrific group and we loved every minute of it. We highly recommend this cooking class!

This was such a great experience! We loved Carlo, he was informative and very enjoyable. We loved walking through the garden, making pasta, making cannolis and enjoying it with other travelers at the end. 10/10 experience! Also, Carlo and his family are welcoming to children! If you are travelling to Palermo, Cooking with Carlo is an ESSENTIAL experience. It was the most authentic, wholesome and beautifully executed cooking class. If felt like being invited into his home rather than his just classroom. The attention to details and the incredible location make the experience second to none! I wish there were 10 stars. Every detail of this experience was carefully curated to ensure full immersion of a Sicilian meal. From picking the ingredients in the garden to the sunset views and wonderful food, this was our favorite part of Sicily and a great kick off to our time here. Carlos was so kind and welcoming, and the transfer they booked for us even went out of his way to point out what to do and how to get to where we needed in Palermo. If you’re wanting to book a cooking class - this is the one!

From the moment we walked through the door, Carlo welcomed us with genuine Italian hospitality. The view in the backyard was breathtaking, showcasing a beautiful, bountiful garden filled with an endless array of herbs, fruits, and vegetables. Carlo kindly gave us a tour of the garden, where we sampled the freshest produce and picked the ingredients we would use in our cooking. Under Carlo’s guidance, we made cannoli and pasta from scratch. His instructions were clear and made the entire experience so much fun. Once we finished cooking, we sat down to enjoy the delicious creations we had made. It was truly amazing to be taught by Carlo, to be invited into his beautiful space, and to savor some of the freshest food imaginable. This experience exceeded all of my expectations! Additionally, Carlo's sister-in-law was present, and she was absolutely wonderful. This cooking class will always be one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily.

A must do in Palermo

We had a wonderful time at the cooking class! Carlo was an amazing host, chef, and teacher. He shares his personal home, farm and stories of how he and his family harvest from the farm each year to make olive oil and fresh tomato sauce. We learned how to make cannolis from scratch and fresh pasta, had lovely appetizers made by he and his mom (who assisted with set up and cleaning during the class-she was lovely) with fresh ingredients from the farm. We picked ingredients during our walk around the farm that were used for dinner and ate some of the freshest figs off his trees that I had ever had in my life. The view from his patio when we were cooking was amazing, we drank some great wine with our appetizers and with dinner. All throughout cooking Carlo shared stories and tips about how to make the recipes better and shared little bits of Sicilian culture. All around a wonderful experience- it was just my husband and I who took the class with two other pairs that we did not know but everyone was very friendly. Would recommend for families or groups or even a solo traveler. Carlo made everyone feel welcome. It was also lovely to get outside of the city and see Palermo from above.

I had one of my all time favorite moments in my travels to Europe. My nieces and I took a private cooking class with Chef Carlo in his home in Palermo. We learned how to make homemade Italian cannolis and Basil Pesto. We had sandwiches and bruschetta for appetizers. Chef Carlo Di Bartolo was an excellent teacher and was assisted in the cooking class by his sister-in-law and mother-in-law. Chef Carlo showed us his gardens of basil, tomatoes, rosemary, olives, mandarins, and lemons and we got to pick tomatoes and basil that he used to make a delicious caprese salad for our lunch. Even though I love to cook, I have never made my own pasta. It always seemed too complicated, but it really isn’t. I enjoyed learning how to make pasta. The flour they use in Sicily is the same brand I use at home. The girls seemed to enjoy themselves. Breathtaking views during our class and great to cook with our “classmates”. Chef Carlo and his family were so incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Special culinary memories were made today in Palermo Italy. Highly recommend this class with a personal, family touch!

This was a such a fun experience to do as a family traveling with 2 kids who like to cook (12 and 7). Carlo and family are so kind and wonderful hosts. We prepared pasta and cannoli on the back deck and then ate and drank while enjoying the a gorgeous view. Carlo was so attentive to our comfort and went out of his way to find dairy-free options for my son. We loved every minute and my son was inspired to make pasta from scratch as soon as we returned home. Highly recommend spending part of your day with Carlo!

This was our favorite experience by far. Carlo was an amazing host and taught us so much about cooking in Sicily. We LOVED visiting his beautiful garden and learning how to make pasta and cannoli's. His hospitality was perfect and he also taught us so much about Sicily and family traditions. His wife also helped us with transportation to the location so it was one less thing to worry about. We are so happy that this was an option and will definitely do again!
