The Sicilian Pasta Adventure

Maria’s home was a delight once we got there. Loved being in a locals home . Extremely Warm Hearts!! The pasta was so delicious, and participated in making. The tiramisu was already prepared and ready for us to eat. The BEST I’ve ever eaten!! I suppose language barrier was our biggest hurdle We were directed to one address to get there and then last minute were redirected to Maria’s home who hosted It was much further away . 20 min taxi ride We ended up being an hour late The hostess did not speak English at all so this made for quite an adventure both while finding the location and when we called her to let her know we were late . Fortunately some really helpful Sicilians directed us and helped us find a taxi to the class. Again, we absolutely LOVED being in a Sicilians home for lunch . Our family is always up for an adventure!! Definitely more a once in a lifetime experience ,more so than a cooking class.

The Perfect Taormina Day

Paria and Alberto were terrific. The tour was beautiful and interesting with just the right balance of guiding and having time on your own. Taormina is beautiful and well worth the trip, especially the Greek theater and views of Mt Etna, Taormina and Ionian Sea. An added bonus of stopping in Castelmola was great, and we sampled the perfect cannoli. We were there in January so crowds were low and weather was cool and breezy. That's our sweet spot for travel. Alberto's kind personality and Paria's bubbly enthusiasm were the icing on the cake.

Get the “Inside” tour!

The tour started a little shaky as traffic caused a delay but once we got out of the city and started the real part of the tour we were mesmerized! Alessandro provided a wealth of knowledge about Mt. Etna and her many varied eruptions. Walking the lava fields and crawling through the tubes beneath them made for a memorable experience. Having a nice lunch and some wine from the region just rounded out the day! His sharing the experience of growing up and living in the shadows of Etna just made it that much better.

Even though we had...

Even though we had torrential rain during our tour our driver , Enzo and our guide, Kimberly made sure we enjoyed our day. The bar in Castelmola was phenomenal. Even after I dropped my cannoli in the water Enzo bought me an another one and had it waiting for me when we returned.

A beautiful day in Sicily!

We joined this tour as a shore excursion starting from the Messina port. From booking on Viator to pick up at the pier, the company was extremely organized and communicated very well. We were told in advance, to look for the orange shirts with a Lion head, where and when to meet on the pier and even our tour guide’s name. When we came off the ship, everything was exactly as described which made it very easy to find the right tour and Sabrina greeted us warmly. During the ride, Sabrina provided tons of information, along with a cookie and water. She speaks English well (maybe a little fast, but still easily understandable). The drive itself was stunning, with many expansive views and the 2 locations we stopped were gorgeous. Lots of shopping, beautiful picture opportunities, good food and everything you imagine when visiting Italy. I highly recommend this tour and you would be lucky to have Sabrina leading it. She paced well to the audience, spoke to everyone, made suggestions for things to eat and experience. She is knowledgeable and friendly! Antonella was our driver and she took great care of us also. The drive up the mountain was steep and windy, but she handled it with ease and confidence. She also got as close as possible to drop off points and never made us wait too long. Everything was timed well, with enough time to see and enjoy the sites, grab a snack and people watch without wasting hours of time. What else can you ask for? A beautiful day all around!

Pleasurable trip

Our guide Carmine and the driver were very informative and answered all the questions extremely patient but yet very knowledgeable. They were cognizant of some physical limitations and made certain we did not miss anything on this tour. In fact he did such a wonderful job of going through shops to get samples and eased with a treat of granita and brioche. I cannot say enough nice things about this tour. The driver was extremely safe and I would recommend this to anybody.

So much to see!

This was a great outing for all of us. We first liked the ease of getting picked up. Our driver met us right at the gate. We then had a great drive around the area. We stopped at so many places and we loved them the all. The views were amazing. We learned so much from our guide. She was fantastic. We all agreed we need to return for another visit.

This tour was professionally handled in a great manner. From pre trip communication to meeting at the port to the tour and drop off back at port, this was a great experience. Lilllo was early to pick us up ( we were early too as the pick up was right as we disembarked!). He shared historical, cultural and fun information as we went along the tour. Due to weather, the itinerary was adjusted and we visited unexpected places for a fun treat. He gave us choices and ample time to explore Taormina and Castlemola with a view of Isola Bella. He pointed out fun facts and locations about White Lotus and The Godfather. We chose not to go to the beach because of rain. Transportation was totally comfortable and, on the return to Messina, we were treated with REAL gelato and cannoli’s. The church there was spectacular inside. Our group of 7 had a great experience and much thanks to Lillo for taking us around and teaching us about this lovely place.
