Select ingredients offered by the chef and take your turn, allowing yourself a few tries to get the hang of things as you learn to master this uniquely Japanese art.
Then have a seat to enjoy your sushi rolls with the other guests. Your dinner is accompanied by miso soup, a Japanese omelet, and a selection of snacks. If you’d like, upgrade to include a local sake tasting with the option of Osaka-brewed beer to wash it all down. The tasting includes either six sakes or four sakes and one bottle of beer.
After your meal, enjoy a taiyaki for dessert. Once you’ve gotten sufficiently full, head back to the original departure point.

The Sushi Cooking Class with Yayo was a highlight of our trip to Japan. It was extremely intimate, the food quality was impeccable, and Yayo was a gracious, generous, and warm host and teacher. The work stations were thoughtfully set-up and the entire evening was seamless. Aside from sushi, we also prepared miso soup, Japanese omelets, matcha tea, and taiyaki. Yayo taught us about each of these dishes and provided clear instruction that was easy to follow. This sushi was some of the best that we had during our entire time in Japan; the fish melted in your mouth. We highly recommend this class to all visitors in Osaka.

This was the best dinner we had (because we made it ourselves) and one of our favorite experiences while traveling through Japan. Our host made us feel welcomed and appreciated for taking her cooking class. All her ingredients were homemade (by Mom) and purchased fresh from the fish market that morning. We were joined by another NYC family, who had experience in making sushi, so it made for great conversation. We learned so much preparing a traditional Japanese sushi dinner. I definitely recommend Cooking Class YAYO.

This ended up being a private lesson, very personal experience. We learned about traditional ways and how to create delicious food! Our teacher was super knowledgeable and answered all questions. I would definitely do a different class with her again.

Yayo is a wonderful Sushi teacher. We had a fun, informative and delicious experience. Highly recommended. We laughed & we learned “hands on”. One of the top 3 best parts of our 11 days in Japan! Thank you.

It's a small class in what feels like a home. She is really nice and you learn a lot while having a great experience.

The hostess was very knowledgeable and incredibly kind! I didn't feel like there was a language barrier at all because her English was excellent. She was very encouraging and patient with me as well. She also shows you how to make each item before you try to make it which was greatly appreciated because I'm more of a visual learner. I feel like she made me a master sushi chef in the span of 2.5 hours, and I am confident that I can make everything that I made in the class at home. The food and sake was also fantastic!

My brother and I had so much fun learning how to make sushi with Yayo. Yayo was very kind as we were half an hour late due to a missed train. The little experiences she provided was amazing. We had a great time and would go again in a heartbeat. The food was amazing and we learned a lot about the different techniques to make Japanese food.

My family and I visited Osaka and were looking for fun activities that we could do in addition to sightseeing. This class was the perfect experience for learning more about culture and history of sushi in Japan, and specifically in Osaka! We made takoyaki, matcha green tea, and tamagoyaki in addition to a sushi platter that we ate afterwards. I would highly recommend visiting and taking this class!

As we lost our way in finding the meeting place, Yayo sensei settled us in with drinks and light snacks while we catch our breathe. Sensei played such a good host patiently walking us through each dish and guide us with our hands-on. Akane wore a very pretty kimono to welcome us at the door. She was so well behaved when we were having lessons. Despite our messing up her place, she made the whole cooking session so fun and helped us feel like great cook. We learned so much and had a wonderful time trying new yet familiar foods. We're looking forward to trying the recipes at home. We all highly recommend this experience if you're in Osaka even if you have never cook. Had just bought a rectangle pan online to try making dashimaki for my family.

I had a wonderful experience with Yayo. She is a very gracious & fun host who is patient and takes the time to explain things, including the history of why certain techniques are used. Yayo also provided information to take home around the items we prepared; I will get a chance to try these with my family. I highly recommend spending an evening with Yayo!

Lovely time spent with a lovely lady and her dog! It was just me in the class which was great to have 1 on 1 and the dishes were great! Loved making the egg roll and sushi. Would recommend to many but depends what kind of sushi you want to learn. This is a very simple class and you make basic things

This was definitely a highlight of our 2 week trip to Japan. It exceeded my expectations, and I am so glad we did this. I 100 recommend this sushi-making class! Yayo met us at the train station and walked us to her apartment. We had a lovely tea, and then proceeded to making a Japanese omelet, Yayo showed us how to make miso, and then we made our sushi. Beautiful, fun experience -- take this class, you will not regret it!!
