Receive a fun, delicious introduction to the world of Japanese cooking as you learn to prepare the country’s most popular dishes during a small-group cooking lesson. You can further add to the fun with an optional add-on of a beer and sake tasting.
Start your class in the morning, meeting your guide in central Osaka and continuing on to the cooking studio.
Start your class by following your instructor to prepare miso soup, a dish where subtle differences in technique can have large impacts on the final dish. Then try your hand at making takoyaki—fried balls of wheat flour batter stuffed with octopus. You also learn to prepare okonomiyaki, a filling pancake made with egg, flour, cabbage, pork and dried bonito flakes.
Once you’ve completed your cooking, enjoy your finished food with an optional sake and beer pairing, or simply sit back and savor the delicious flavors of your meal with the other guests.
Before you leave, you get to try Taiyaki (a fish-shaped cake) and Matcha tea.

We had the most wonderful time with Yayo in Osaka! From the moment we met her at the arranged spot on time, we knew we were in for a treat. She took us to her lovely home, where she welcomed us warmly.
We learned to make authentic miso soup from scratch, alongside delicious okonomiyaki and rolled omelets. Yayo was a delight—her explanations were clear, and she shared lovely stories about her mom that made the experience truly special. We finished with a lovely matcha. If you want a genuine, heartwarming Japanese cooking experience, Yayo is the best!

Great cooking class and you learn a lot about the ingredients too and how painstaking the preparation of some ingredients used to be. Yayo-san was also very cheerful and knowledgeable.
Know how long it will take you to get there and add thirty minutes.
The meeting place is a bit hidden.
What a lovely experience, delivering each detail with great care! You'll not only leave with a full stomach and hands-on knowledge about local food but will also enjoy a family recipe and a heartful atmosphere. Definitely do recommend!
We had an interesting evening with YAYO . We cooked sadhu , Japanese omelette , pancakes and omonomazi . Fantastic and very filling
Yayo was a wonderful host and she taught us so much about Japanese cuisine and history. This was a great educational experience and well worth the time if you want to experience authentic Japanese cooking.
We had a lovely time with Yayo learning how to make Okonomiyaki, Japanese omelet, Taiyaki and Matcha. We were so full after our class. Yayo was excellent at teaching us all about the food, the ingredients, and we had a good chat about anything Japan and Osaka. Loved the class!! Prompt pickup at class time with short walk to host's home. Lovely set up and menu. The location was a little out of the way in a quiet Osaka neighborhood. Highly recommend this cooking experience hosted by yayo in her home. We learned to make several traditional Osaka dishes that were delicious. Our host was so personable, and knowledgeable. We are going home with new recipes that we will cherish for years to come.

Altogether an incredible experience. If you are on the fence about trying this cooking class, you should definitely just go. It's one of the if not the best thing we tried during our trip to Japan.

She has thought out every aspect of the experience and really does a great job explaining how to cook the dishes and letting you cook with guidance! Incredible opportunity to cook in an actual Japanese home kitchen and an amazing cultural experience. We learned so much about Osaka and how their food differs from other parts of Japan. Our instructor was very kind and accommodating of dietary restrictions. We had so much fun and can't wait to try making okonomiyaki at home. The evening we spent with Yayo and her friend Kimi (?) was delightful! It was great to be inside a Japanese home learning to prepare real Japanese foods. The class size of 5 was just right, the foods were varied and delicious, and the take away and gifts were beautifully personal and thoughtful! Most grateful!
