Really enjoyed this class and in particular the personal one on one approach we received. The chef was very well trained and even made us personalized menus which was a nice touch. Great way to learn sushi making from a master chef

Our "SUSHI Making Experience at Restaurant" was great fun and really approachable regardless of your culinary skill level. The instructor and chef, Shinichi, prepared the sushi rice and cuts of fish in advance so we could dive in right away. He started us off with 3 small bites and then demonstrated how to make the sushi (nigiri) before bringing each class participant up for one-on-one instruction on several different ways of forming the nigiri. It felt intimidating at first, but he quickly put us at ease with words of encouragement and gentle corrections if they were needed. I'm sure I wasn't actually superb at making nigiri, but Shinichi certainly made all of us feel like rockstars.
All the food and fish we ate was excellent, but I have to give particular shoutouts to the best squid nigiri I have ever had and also especially Shinichi's homemade mochi for dessert.
Throughout the class, we communicated with Shinichi via a translator who was fantastic, and also had many photos and videos taken and transferred to us by a third individual. I regrettably do not recall either of their names, but all three individuals were very friendly, worked very well together and with us, and really made the experience come together. Our only regret is not returning to the restaurant for dinner.
If using Google Maps, search "エミネンスMATOBA" and NOT just "M A T O B A." Street View will show you what looks to be the entrance on the north side of the building but fun fact, it's a stairwell and the actual entrance to the restaurant is on the east side of the building.

I was drawn to this particular experience for two reasons: (1) it was conducted by a real sushi chef, and not just some random "expert"; (2) it was hosted in a real sushi restaurant, and not just some floor in an office building where other similar experiences are typically held.
You won't regret doing this. I had a Michelin star sushi dinner a week after doing this, and this made me appreciate the dining more as I was able to understand what the sushi chef was doing because of what I had learned here.
No cooking ability? No problem. The chef is very hands-on and will individually tailor the experience for each person so that no one feels out of place or embarrassed. No one was left unhappy.
While the chef speak little English, he does understand it. At our experience, he had two translators two available.
Two things to be aware of: (1) the address of the restaurant in the listing does NOT appear in Google Maps or Apple Maps. You'll need to adjust the number to pull up a building or street nearby if you want to pre-plan your route. You can verify the place using street view. Note that Google Maps street View is out of date and has the pre-restaurant images. (2) Parking is also not available at the property. I parked at the Mitsuino Repark Kagonoya Shimizudani koko mae parking lot, roughly two blocks away on the main street, and is metered.

Great guide to a beginners sushi class. The chef had many years of experience and the other instructor did a great job of translating and explaining.

The restaurant for this experience is off the beaten path about 2 miles away from Osaka Castle. Take an Uber from the train station to save yourself a lot of walking. This experience is worth it! The chef is a fabulous teacher! He was patient and courteous. We learned how to make sushi, maki and the famous egg omelet.
He fed us delicious ramen, miso soup and dessert along with the delicious, fresh sushi we made. Excellent!!

We had the best time at this sushi class! The chef was absolutely adorable and so talented. We did so many pieces of sushi! There was also many additional services during the experience with amazing soup, sashimi, mochi… We absolutely recommend this experience. Unforgettable ☺️!

What an experience! In a famous sushi restaurant, under the guidance of a sushi master of 30years+ experience, we learned how to make nigiri, sushi rolls and Japanese egg rolls, and enjoyed high end quality ingredients turned into delightful bites. Please go and experience yourselves.

Consigliato.
