Loic was great! Started...
Loic was great! Started the day at Omicho Market a bustling seafood market. Then wandered the historic streets of Higashi Chaya District and then up to the Kanazawa Castle. Strolled through the stunning Kenrokuen Garden which was pure serenity 🌿—easily one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens. Wrapped up the day exploring the preserved samurai homes in Nagamachi Samurai District and soaking in all that history.

Wonderful tour through Geisha districts
Saya was a lovely host and answered so many of our questions about geisha lifestyle and modern living in Kanazawa. It felt like stepping into another world and we enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the culture and lifestyles of geishas, and then it was a treat to end the night with a traditional Japanese meal in a cute restaurant. A very pleasant cultural experience to round out our stay in Kanazawa!

Yoshi is a must for discovering Kanazawa!
Yoshi is a great guide, so helpful and easy to understand. Without him, we could not have navigated the various districts with the historical insights he provided. He picked out a great place for lunch by the garden, helped us order while regaling us with stories of city.

Absolutely Excellent Cooking Experience
An absolutely fantastic experience in Kanazawa. Great communication and directions to find the cookery school and a truly welcoming introduction. The AI used to translate from Japanese to English allowed the conversation to flow naturally and for it to be an inclusive lesson. Everything was cleaned to the highest standard and the chef was both instructive and funny. Excellent food and would recommend to everyone who comes to Kanazawa. Absolutely worth the cost and would do again if we came back to the area.

Mountain villages, lovely spots & yummy ramen!
Masu was a wonderful guide/driver. His English is outstanding. He drove well, the van was comfortable and his plan for the day was great. I highly recommend spending a day with this charming young gentleman. He is very accommodating, kind and knowledgable! What a great day!!!

Magical morning in the snow with a fantastic guide!
We had a wonderful time on this tour, largely thanks to our guide, Yasushi-san. He was incredibly friendly, personable, and knowledgeable.
The highlight was definitely Shirakawa-go. The tour is timed perfectly—we arrived earlier than the bulk of the crowds, which allowed us to experience the historic village in a much quieter, more peaceful state. Seeing the thatched roofs covered in snow was a "once-in-a-lifetime" experience. Yasushi-san also stationed himself inside one of the house museums to provide extra context and history, which added a lot of value to the visit.
The afternoon in Kanazawa was very enjoyable, though the craft activities were a bit underwhelming for us. The daruma painting was unguided, and the gold leaf postcard activity felt very brief. Despite the crafts being a little simple, the overall experience and the quality of the guiding made this a trip well worth taking!

A Beautiful Journey Through the Japanese Alps
This one-day tour from Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go and Takayama was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip through Japan.
The journey itself is part of the pleasure, travelling through the dramatic landscapes of the Japanese Alps before arriving at the remarkable village of Shirakawa-go. The traditional gassho-zukuri houses, surrounded by mountains, create a scene that feels almost timeless.
Takayama offers a different charm. Its beautifully preserved old town, wooden merchant houses, sake breweries and small shops provide a wonderful glimpse into historic Japan.
The tour was very well organised, the coach comfortable, and the guide professional and attentive. The schedule allowed enough time to explore each destination while still keeping the day relaxed.
For travellers staying in Kanazawa, this tour is an excellent way to experience two of central Japan’s most atmospheric places in a single day.

Day trip to Shirakawago.
Fun day trip to see two villages. Loved the free time and helpful info. The lunch was very nice. Enjoyed the tour and convenience of the transport. I would add that the bus pick up is on the back side of the train station in front of the Hyatt Centric. The original directions were vague and caused a little worry.

Samurai, Matcha, Gardens and Geisha
This is a walking tour and you do walk a lot! However, the experience you gain and the the sites you see by walking is amazing. Mike was an excellent guide with a wonderful sense of humour. Mike was well informed with the history of Japan and you could see he clearly enjoyed showing others the beautiful city of Kanazawa. Be prepared to take your shoes on and off as well - wear slip on slip shoes. Kenrokuen Garden was just beautiful and the Gyokusen-an tea house was a very special experience. Highly recommend this tour and ask for Mike!

Fantastic way to see Kanazawa!
My husband and I have not ridden bikes in over 20 years. Our guide, Rina, was very patient. We had to practice a bit and then we were off. Great way to see the city, we had a wonderful time riding around. She was able to add in an extra stop at a shrine we had wanted to see. It was cold and she even provided us with hand warmers. She was so accommodating and explained to us that we could use the bikes the rest of the day after we did our tour around Kanazawa. She dropped us off at the fish market so we could grab lunch and then we were able to take the bikes to the art museum.
Definitely practice bike riding if you haven’t done so in a while before you jump on these E bikes. It will make things much quicker and smoother. Thank you Rina, you are so patient!

Highly recommend this tour!
Aiko (main tour guide) was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate guide! She was engaging the entire time. Really enjoyed the format of getting the information on the bus before heading into the village to get nearly 2 hours of free time to hike, eat and drink! Highly recommend to take this tour and visit this UNESCO site

Highly Recommended Private Tour to Shirakawa-go & Takayama
We booked the 1 Day Private Charter Tour to Shirakawa-go & Takayama and had a wonderful experience. Our guide, Ali, was friendly and flexible, happily customising the itinerary to suit our interests. He spoke English very well and made communication easy throughout the day. Ali was also a safe and skilled driver, making the journey comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour for a smooth and personalised day trip!
