Travelers praise the tour guides for their engaging, knowledgeable, and personable approach, which enriches the experience with insights into Osaka’s food culture, history, and language. Food and beverage offerings are generally appreciated for their quality, variety, and authentic flavors, with plentiful portions noted. Absolutely fantastic food tour with Max. Twenty dishes sounds insane — and it kind of is — but that’s what made it so much fun. We hit four genuinely local spots, tried things we never would have found or ordered on our own, and Max was funny, knowledgeable, and great company throughout. One of the most fun nights we had in Japan. Come hungry!
Response from Host, Oct 2026
Thank you for such a fun review! Twenty dishes does sound unreasonable until you are halfway through, and that is rather the point. We are glad the four stops felt genuinely local and that Max was good company throughout. Being one of the best nights of your time in Japan is high praise indeed, and we will make sure he hears it. Thank you for spending your evening in Osaka with us.
We enjoyed the tour and much of the food. The first 3 places were good. However, the last venue, a sushi place was not as good. The service was poor, and we had better sushi at home. However, our guide Niko was EXCELLENT. He was personable and connected with every guest. He explained the food as well as aspects of Japanese culture. He shared his own experiences which liven up our tour. I think this tour is appropriate for guests who are visiting Japan for the first time and have little previous experience with Japanese food.
Response from Host, Sep 2026
Thank you very much for sharing your honest and thoughtful feedback with us.
We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the first three stops, and especially that you had such a great experience with Niko. We truly appreciate your kind words about him, and we will definitely share your feedback with him!
At the same time, we are sorry to hear that the final sushi restaurant did not meet your expectations.
One of the things we value on our tours is introducing our guests to authentic local restaurants rather than places specifically aimed at tourists. The sushi restaurant we visited is also a local establishment that uses fresh fish and has received positive feedback from many of our guests. However, we sincerely acknowledge and respect that your experience there was not a satisfying one.
We truly appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to review our restaurant selection and improve the overall experience and service we provide.
Thank you again for joining our tour and for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us!

Super great food with a great guide! We enjoyed all 4 stops. The quality and variety of dishes was awesome! Salvatore is the best!

One of the things we love most about this tour is introducing guests to the variety of flavors that make Osaka such a famous food city, so we're thrilled to hear you enjoyed all four stops. From local specialties to different dining atmospheres, each restaurant is chosen to showcase a different side of Osaka's food culture. We're especially happy that Salvatore helped make the experience even more memorable. His passion for food, culture, and connecting with guests always shines through. Thank you for your kind words, and we're delighted the tour was such a highlight of your time in Osaka.
Was supposed to have all meals included, but half of it was not. The food was not great. Paid way to much for what we got. Guide was good though

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for joining our tour.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your guide.
However, we would like to clarify that your review contains some inaccurate information regarding what was included in your booking.
Your reservation was made before April 17, when this tour operated under a different pricing structure. At that time, only 2 of the 4 food stops were included in the tour price, while the remaining food and drinks were paid separately. This was clearly stated in the booking conditions at the time of purchase.
In addition, before the tour, we sent a detailed message through the booking platform explaining the difference and asking guests to review their original booking confirmation. Our guide also explained this again on the day of the tour.
The confusion may have come from a later system update. After April 17, the tour was changed to an all-inclusive format. However, those bookings are sold at a higher price and do not apply to reservations made under the previous conditions.
We also encourage guests to review their original booking confirmation email, which clearly outlines the inclusions and conditions of their reservation.
We fully respect your opinion regarding the food itself. However, the statement that you did not receive what you booked is simply not correct. The tour was delivered according to the booking conditions and information provided before the experience.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.

Good food and fun walk around a lively part of Osaka. Midweek was a bit quiet, so probably best to do on the weekend.

Our Osaka food tour with Niko was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! Niko was an outstanding guide — engaging, knowledgeable, fun, and incredibly welcoming throughout the entire experience. He shared fascinating insights about Osaka’s food culture and local spots while keeping the tour lively and entertaining.
The food was absolutely delicious, authentic, and incredibly plentiful — we left completely satisfied after tasting a fantastic variety of local specialties. Every stop felt carefully selected and added something unique to the experience.

This was a great food tour! Honoka is a young college student so we loved spending time getting to know her and her life in Osaka. The restaurants we visited had amazing food, friendly service, and fun atmospheres. We learned a lot about the difference between Osaka foods and Hiroshima foods. I definitely recommend this tour!

A great way to spend a rainy evening in Osaka, great food and a lot of laughter. Our guide Nikko made the evening, he had a lot of local knowledge and passion but it was his energy and ability to make a group of strangers into friends that made it such a special evening and a highlight of our trip,

i think this experience is a scam. i booked this food tour for 6 people two months before my trip to japan. at the time, the tour promised 15 different dish’s at 4 local eateries for $65 USD per person.
about two weeks after booking, i get a message that now only two local eateries are included and we will still visit the others but will be required to pay for the food.
at the first eatery, we all got 8 small gyoza and a drink. at the second eatery, we split an order of 8 takoyaki bites among 6 people. in total, the actual cost of all these items was $6.67 USD per person.
then we went to two other places (kushikatsu and sushi), and in total spent $18 USD each out of pocket. in total, with the cost of the tour, spent $83 on $25 worth of food.
it was not worth it. the original listing still seems to say you get 15 dishes at 4 eateries. it’s a bait and switch.
i’m only giving this review two stars because our tour guide karen was absolutely lovely.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback.
First of all, we would like to clear up a few misunderstandings regarding your booking and the experience you received.
The experience you booked was our “1 Group Only” private tour, which is different from our current group tour product. This is a customized private experience designed exclusively for your group, with more flexibility and a different structure from our standard group tours.
At the time of your booking, this private tour included visits to 2 restaurants, not 4 restaurants with all food included as offered in some of our current tour products.
After your booking, our tours were updated, including changes to the tour name, inclusions, and pricing. These updates were communicated through the booking platform as well as by phone.
If you compare your booking price with our current pricing, you will likely notice that the product, inclusions, and pricing are different from when you originally booked.
For this reason, we are honestly saddened to see the word “scam” used here. We have never intended to mislead any guests, and the experience provided was based on the exact conditions and inclusions that existed at the time of your reservation.
That being said, we truly appreciate your kind words about Karen. We will be sure to share your compliment with her.
If there is anything unclear or if you would like us to review your original booking details together, please feel free to contact us anytime. We would be more than happy to explain everything in full.
Thank you again for joining us.
We were in a group of 20 people. Way too many and the food was not so good. Don’t recommend this food tour. The guide was entertaining and fun so nothing against him.
Wonderful time exploring an Osaka food scene. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable and became part of our group by the end of the evening.

Awful value for money. Nice guide but this is nowhere near worth the money. Whole experience should cost around 30 usd. The first 2 stops on tour are covered as part of the expensive price. The latter two stops are not covered. Mark up is silly. Guide failed to warn us we would be eating shark. Avoided the question when it came up. I asked for fifty percent refund and it was denied. AVOID

hank you for sharing your feedback — we understand your perspective.
This experience is designed as a private, fully customized tour, and the pricing reflects the dedicated time of a personal guide, flexible itinerary design, and local expertise, rather than simply the cost of individual food items.
The restaurants we visit are carefully selected local spots that Japanese people themselves regularly go to, not tourist-oriented locations. The goal is to provide an authentic and immersive experience, rather than a fixed, pre-arranged food tour.
We also clearly outline in advance which items are included and which are to be paid on-site. This structure is intentional, allowing guests the flexibility to choose what they would like to try, instead of being limited to a set menu.
Regarding the ingredient mentioned, it is part of traditional Japanese cuisine in certain regions, and guests are always free to decline any item during the tour.
As for the refund request, our decision was made in line with our policy, which is applied consistently to all guests.
While we understand your viewpoint, this experience is designed around access, personalization, and local insight, and may feel different from tours focused purely on food cost.
Such an awesome and informative tour , our guide ran was super personable and nice which made for a great time. Definitely a must do tour!

This was the best food tour I have ever been on, Bao was amazing. He taught us about the food culture, pop culture, and fun local Osaka lingo. The food we ate was delicious and everyone was very friendly. I’d recommend this tour to anyone (friend groups and families alike). Very worthwhile. Thanks for the great experience for my friends and me!

The best tour! Ben and the other people we met along the way made this tour fantastic. We went to three different restaurants and enjoyed everything we ate and drank. But the time with Ben was what really made this tour. Highly recommend booking this great tour!

Mizuki was our guide, and she was bubbly, funny, and informative about local food culture and customs. My wife and I had an excellent time strolling around local spots to discover places we’d likely not have found otherwise. Mizuki was kind to answer all our questions, even the silly ones. Do yourself a favor, book this experience if you’re looking to go off script and try something new.

Absolutely fabulous intimate experience with Ben. We moved between 3 sit down stops and got a feel for the area. The food was amazing, we went back to one place again the following night. Ben’s English is great, which made it feel more like friends than the bigger tours we other nights.
Highly recommend!
