I booked a private tour for a full day for two. The tour operator changed our agreed upon itinerary the day before it was scheduled. The distilleries are awesome to visit, take the tour, and do tastings. BUT our driver accompanied us everywhere--it was weird and awkward to say the least. Moving forward, just drop us off at the door and pick us up. Why follow us around the gift shops and to lunch. We felt compelled to offer to pay for the driver's lunch but they said no. So they watched us eat. As I said, it was weird. There needs to be a uniform for the drivers--even a polo with khakis would be more professional than our driver's risque attire.
The driver was nice enough but I wasn't looking for a babysitter. The cost was exorbitant for the service provided.

Just to keep things straight , your itinerary was carefully curated in advance. The only update was at Buffalo Trace, where we offered to upgrade your experience from a tasting to a full tour and tasting the day before. You were given the option to keep the original plan or move forward with the enhanced one, and you chose the upgrade. We do regret that our intention to enhance your experience may not have come across that way.
As for our “driver” , around here in Kentucky, we tend to be a bit more neighborly than that. You were hosted by a TOUR COORDINATOR whose role is to guide, check you in, and keep the day running smooth from one stop to the next… including getting you to lunch on time.
We truly appreciate your kind gesture in inviting your tour coordinator to join you for lunch — really kind of you.
We also accommodated your updated pickup location in Lexington, provided only the day prior — well outside our standard pickup area — at no additional cost.
Your feedback is appreciated and certainly helps us continue refining our service with one goal in mind: delivering excellence.
Just as a note, as part of our company policy, we do not use uniforms. We focus instead on providing a professional, friendly, and personalized service experience.

Awesome full day tour with Jorg. Started with great communication back-and-forth from the moment of booking. We made some changes before and during the day and it was no problem for him. He found several additional small distilleries that we had never heard of to stop to get some extra experience on our tour. Definitely a personal touch getting us all in at each Stop with no problems. Would absolutely do this again, especially since you can change up the distilleries each visit.

Having a driver to enjoy the bourbon trail is a must so glad we had this tour for that purpose. We did not realize how far some of the distilleries are from downtown Louisville. Felt it was a little expensive but we only had 4 of us on the tour (my spouse and another couple) so almost like a semi-private tour vs a bus load of people. Wish we had time to stop for lunch — we went to 3 distilleries and tastings with no food all day. Overall, a solid experience. So much history and so much to explore!

This is a great tour and a great way to see the bourbon trail and not drive. Having a driver is the only way to do this. Belkus was our driver and she was great and informative. Definitely recommend.

The tour guide was a no-show on the day of the tour. We booked a tour for Valentine's Day to see Buffalo Trace, Woodford, Bluegrass Distillery, and Jeptha Creed.
The tour operator communicated well throughout the week before the tour, and even confirmed an 8:30 am pick up time at our hotel the morning of the tour. Then it slipped to 8:45 am. No big deal, still plenty of time. Then silence. Nothing. Wouldn't respond to texts, wouldn't answer or return calls.
We made the 3.5 hour drive to Louisville specifically for this tour. At 10 am, we gave up waiting on him and luckily were able to find something else to do.
We're still waiting on a refund from Viator, which they claim is to be refunded in full.
As of the writing of this review, the tour operator still hasn't responded. No apology, no excuses, nothing.
I'd avoid this one at all costs.

Amazing! This was our first tour of the trip, and Bourbon Bites truly set the bar. Our guide, Jorg, was professional, knowledgeable, and took us to some incredible distilleries in Bardstown. We even had the chance to enjoy lunch at The Bar at Willett — an AMAZING EXPERIENCE from start to finish!

The ad was very misleading in that I thought it was a private tour, imagine my surprise when four more people got in, not just on our part, but on their part also. They were led to believe that this was a private tour, it is not! We were also led to believe we could choose option A, B,or C. I told him I wanted option B when we signed up for the tour he informed me that those decisions would be made the day before our tour date. I told him that I would cancel unless we went to Buffalo trace, so I didn’t wanna wait till 24 hours before the tour started. He assured me we would go to Buffalo trace, which we did. But it also said that all admission cost would be covered. We went to three different distilleries, only toured buffalo trace, which was free, and the other two we just did tastings. There were no admission costs for tours. We also thought that our tour guide would speak English. He was an extremely nice man, but none of us could understand what he was saying because he’d only been in the United States for two years. Like I said we went to Buffalo trace, but barely had enough time there. We also went to Jeptha Creed and bluegrass distilleries, which were very small. They were OK, but definitely were not on our list of must see distilleries. We were brought to Castle Key to eat lunch, not for a tasting or tour, and then we’re told that we had 1/2 hour to eat lunch there.
The only food available was through food trucks. They informed us our sandwiches would take 25 minutes. We had no time for lunch but at the last distillery,45 minutes earlier, they had a restaurant that we could’ve eaten at. It was just a waste of time. He only gave us a half an hour to go and eat and come back. We drove way out of the way for this! We were very disappointed in the distilleries that were picked, the lack of control that we had, the lack of communication from the company about what was included in the tour,the promises that weren’t kept and the amount of money we paid basically for a driver.

Our tours are small-group shared experiences (up to 10 guests), not private, unless a private option is specifically booked. We understand there may have been some confusion, but this detail is clearly stated in the description.
The itinerary for your tour was designed based on your specific request to visit Buffalo Trace, according to its confirmed availability, and planned to provide a comfortable and timely experience. All details were discussed and approved in advance of your travel date.
Your driver-guide is fully licensed and speaks more than one language, ensuring a professional and safe experience for all guests.
The stop at Castle & Key was an extra visit, added with the intention of allowing your group to experience one more distillery. Normally, lunch breaks are limited to around 30 minutes due to travel times and distillery schedules — unless a longer stop is specifically requested in advance. The waiting time for food preparation at food trucks is independent of our service and outside of our control.

The travel operator cancelled 1 min before pickup. Stated that it was due to weather tornado alerts while it was bright and sunny. Later contacted us again stated that there was some confusion on the booking and was waiting at a different hotel even though they sent a confirmation of the itinerary. Ive purchased other excursions on viator. If there was ever a weather concern, usually the company calls and emails us 24 hours prior and follows up on the morning of the tour. A little disappointed especially and had to make last minute plans to visit other distilleries. Oh and with a party of 4 at $250 per person, i am still waiting for my refund.

Our guide was an extremely friendly and adaptive whiskey enthusiast. Our itinerary was impacted due to floods and our tour guide created a new one for us which allowed us to visit multiple extra distilleries. The experience was one of a kind and was a highlight of our trip. 10/10 would book see you at the wedding
