Standing at the epicenter of the Battle of Franklin, the Lotz House bore witness to one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. Today, the historic house is a museum chronicling the fateful events of Nov. 30, 1864 and providing a fascinating insight into Tennessee’s Civil War history.

This one-and-a-half-story red brick house in Tennessee once served as a home and farm but later became the site of a historic Civil War fight—the Battle of Franklin. Today, visitors can learn about the transformation of the Carter House into a Civil War headquarters in 1864, when 20,000 Confederates attacked. It is known as one of the bloodiest battles of the war.

A grand historic house–turned–Civil War field hospital, Carnton is a must-see for history buffs visiting the Nashville area. The house, now a top area attraction, once served as the grounds of the Battle of Franklin, one of the deadliest battles of the Civil War.

Located in Williamson County south of Nashville, Arrington Vineyards hosts wine tasting experiences amid 95 acres (38 hectares) of classic Tennessee countryside. Centered around rolling vineyards, the winery offers visitors food-and-wine pairings, live music, a wine shop, picnic tables, and more.

Once home to large-scale manufacturing plants, the Factory at Franklin is now a popular destination for shopping, art, and dining just outside of Nashville. Stop by for a look at the renovated space, which pays homage to the building’s industrial roots, or make a day of it by grabbing a bite to eat and catching a show at the on-site theater.
