Some areas, including pedestrian zones, historic streets in Funchal, and locations with restricted access for the type of transport we use, may not be suitable for direct pick-up. If your accommodation is located outside our pick-up area or in a restricted-access zone, please provide us with your full accommodation address so that we can direct you to the nearest available meeting point in Funchal. Our activities are usually operated in groups of around 16 participants. However, during peak seasons, the type of transport may be adjusted and the number of participants per group may increase, depending on availability and logistical requirements.

This was a brilliant introduction to the landscapes, culture, and history of Madeira. Our guide João was fantastic and made sure everyone in the group felt included. If you only have time to do one tour I would recommend the east side of the island as the views from some of the stops are absolutely breathtaking but do both days if you can!

Our driver and tour guide, Gloria, was knowledgeable and informative. We had an hour delay due to a stop at repair shop to repair the van. The air conditioning in the van was inadequate. The back of the van was uncomfortably hot. The two day tour was a good introduction to the island.

Fantastic couple of days touring around this island. On day one we had Gloria who took us around the eastern side of the island, and on day two it was Lionel. We had a mixture of languages in the minibus and the guides switched effortlessly between languages to ensure everyone understood everything they were explaining and describing.
The tour guides were very knowledgeable, friendly and funny, and both catered excellently to me as I was using my walking stick. They ensured I was ok at every stop.
For the price, I cannot rate this highly enough - this trip is excellent for getting out of Funchal and around the island, from the villages by the beaches to the forests and mountain peaks.

The guides on both days were very good and we got much more out of our tours than we would have done if we had just hired a car. However, on the first day the tour was a large group on a coach (so not a small group as advertised). This meant 1/2hr plus picking up other guests. Presumably as a consequence of this and in order to finish on time, we didn’t stop in Machico as advertised in the itinerary, which was disappointing. The second day we were in a minibus, which was much better.

It was 2 days long comprehensive tour of the island.
Tour guide Lionel is excellent and his driving skill was superb in navigating steep and curve to the peaks ( pico). He is humorous and kind to guests
NB: The tour is not for young children as there is nothing to attract them, and would recommend Viatror set an age limited since that was not far for the children as well as fellow guests.

Great tour of the island. It’s like a quick guide to what the island has to offer. our tour guide Lionel (day 1) was so funny and knowledgeable about the tour. Not a dull moment. The east side of the island has a lot more to offer when it comes to culture. Loved the unexpected small hikes (Prepare your hiking shoes). The west coast is very pretty but I would’ve loved a longer stay in Porto Moniz. That’s the main attraction and 2 hours isn’t enough (Don’t forget your swimwear and towels). As after that the rest of the west coast tour seems to be just meh. But overall, it’s a worth it tour to book. Can easily learn and see Madeira in two days.

This was a fantastic way to see the island!!! I highly recommend it. I was a little apprehensive at first, wondering if we’d stay busy the whole time or if it was slow-paced. In the end, I thought it was perfect. We had several stops where we were able to use the restroom and stop in the shops or get a drink, but we moved quite quickly through the island. The western side was so beautiful and the lunch stop was great! We swam in the free public lava pools and it was amazing! I highly recommend eating a quick lunch there and then swimming in the lava pools. It feels cold at first but is very refreshing once you get all the way in. (Btw there was a huge line for the paid lava pools, so we didn’t go there, but it also looks nice. The free ones were great, though-no need to spend extra money.) Day 2, the Eastern side, was also filled with stunning landscapes and fun stops. Santana was pretty and the triangle houses were fun to see. It was a cloudy day, so we were basically in the clouds for the pico do arieiro, but it was beautiful and the drive up there was incredible! Our guide was Lionel and he did a great job! He was very considerate and helpful, always trying to stop at the best places and find the best views, taking the more scenic roads at times and making us laugh with funny comments. He did great in Spanish and English, since we had both languages in our van. If you only have one day to see the island, I recommend Western side with the amazing lava pools at Porto Moniz, but if you have 2 days to do both, doing both days is a great way to spend time in the island.

This trip was such a great way to get a wonderful overview of Madeira, especially since I didn't have a car. Over two days, we visited all of the popular places around the island. My guides were so knowledgeable about the area and I learned so much. Pickup and drop off were seamless in Funchal center and both days were truly enjoyable. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate in the higher elevations, which was disappointing. But it's just an excuse to go back.

Fabulous 2 day excursion. I happened to be allocated with the same guide both days: Renato Rodrigues. His vibrant personality as well as very apparent knowledge of Madeira made the time more appreciated and fun. He captured Madeira's essence. The cultural influences reminded me of my ancestry and so it made me feel connected to the island. However long your stay in Madeira I would recommend the tour. As a solo traveller I felt very safe and met some very interesting people from across the world.

We did the Around the Island of Madeira- 2 day tour and it was a brilliant way of seeing the island without having to struggle with public transport. Extensive knowledge from both our guides, Day 1 Renato and Day 2 Paolo. Thank you so much to both of them for broadening our knowledge of Madeira, with it's culture, religion, invastructure and not forgetting the flora and fauna that grows on it. 🫶 We will definitely book through Viator again as they kept us in the loop at all times with pick up points/ and times, and was quite reasonably priced.
