These are private tours with a single pick-up stop, and the adventure begins as soon as we meet. Important: pick-ups outside Funchal, Santa Cruz, and Câmara de Lobos incur a small additional fee. I drive a car branded with the Go Local Madeira logo and usually pick up guests at their door. For on-shore tours, I’ll meet you at the cruise ship dock and provide clear, easy-to-follow instructions to ensure a smooth and stress-free meeting. I have two fully restored all-terrain vehicles for your comfort and safety: Nissan Patrol (1993) – 5 seats: 1 facing forward, 4 in the back facing sideways (60 cm / 23 inches each), with a panoramic/convertible roof for amazing views. Land Rover Discovery TDI (1996) – 4 seats facing forward, perfect for a comfortable ride. Vehicles are assigned depending on availability, maintenance, or weather conditions, with prior notice given to guests.

A fascinating insight into the cultural and natural wonders of eastern Madeira

Val offered us a fascinating trip around the east of the island that included exploring some of the most interesting towns in this area (such as Santa Cruz, Machico and Santana) as well as the opportunity to enjoy the natural wonders of eastern Madeira. We especially appreciated the efforts Val made to find us quieter places of beauty and the wealth of knowledge he was able to share about the natural, cultural and political history of the island. Our teenage sons also very much enjoyed the thrill of driving off-road and being able to enjoy rooftop views from the jeep. Overall, we enjoyed the tour so much that we booked a second tour with Val to the West of the island which proved similarly rich and memorable. Without question, exploring the island with Val and sharing his knowledge of Madeira was the highlight of our visit.

The most spectacular tour ever! We've seen so much under 8 hours, I'll need several days to process all impressions. Val (our guide) is amazing person - so much knowledge of Madeira and so skilful driver! He took us places we would never find otherwise! We're so grateful!

There is only one thing that I can blame the tour organizer of - the fact that he made a full day pass in a heartbeat. I booked the tour as a surprise for my girlfriend and I was a bit nervous because I did not know what to expect from the tour and organizer, but it turned out I had nothing to be worried about. The private tour was more than I could have hoped for. Val is amazing and has great knowledge about the island’s history and knows the best places to take you. He was very flexible, gave us constantly a lot of options to choose from and took us to places populated by locals mostly, which is what we wanted. He also took us on roads where you could not reach in a regular car (off-road) and the view from a rooftop car while driving is spectacular. Definitely recommend - Spectacular experience!
