Meet your guide at the Bargello Museum in central Florence, home to Italy’s most comprehensive collection of Tuscan Renaissance sculpture.

Admire the austere-looking building, a fortified palace dating from 1255 that was the city’s first public building. Originally the residence and office of Florence’s captain of police, it was used as a barracks, prison, and execution site.

Take in the crenelated tower and courtyard, and use the pre-booked admission ticket to skip the main entrance lines.
