We had a private tour with headsets so we could hear everything our guide said, which is important as the crowds are large. I wish I could remember our guide’s name but she was just terrific. Knowledgeable, engaging, easy to understand, and worth every penny. Wish we could hire her for all our museum tours in Florence.

We booked less than 24 hours before the tour and had an amazing time! The tour was only the three of us in our group, which enabled us to customize the tour to what we wanted to see. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable in art and provided a lot of background and history with not only the pieces but also the Uffizi and the Medici family.

The meetup location was clearly communicated, and our guide, Vicki, arrived 10–15 minutes early. She guided us smoothly into the museum and gave insightful explanations about the significance and meaning of selected works. As a thoughtful bonus, she noticed that my wife’s 80-year-old parents were having trouble with the stairs and adjusted her usual route so they could use the elevator. We were very happy with Vicki and would highly recommend her tour.

Amazing tour, even greater company

I loved this tour, but what made it really special was how great Anchatha and Pam were. After some scheduling conflicts, Anchatha helped accommodate to ensure we would be able to do the tour. It meant a lot to us how above and beyond he went. Our guide Pam was so knowledgeable and catered the tour to make sure we focused on what we wanted to see most. The guide was incredibly informative. She provided a lot of historical background information regarding the Medici family and their influence in the arts. A bust over our apartment is of Cosimo Medici so that was amazing to discover as well.

The stairs are worth it!

There are over 400 stairs you must walk up (and down) to visit the top of the dome, so it's not an easy tour. There are parts you can participate in without going up to the dome that are worth doing the tour. It's breathtaking up there, though and, in my opinion, it's well worth the effort!

We have waited a long time to finally go to the Uffizi Gallery - it was absolutely amazing. Our guide Patricia was fabulous, she manuevered so we could see all the important exhibits we had hoped to see and each time had historical background that made it all the more fabulous. Highly recommend - it is an experience not to be missed!!

Our guide Anne Marie was phenominal. She was very knowledgable and passionate about the art. She also incorporated the religious and political history into the tour which is key to really understanding renaissance art. This muesum has an unmatched and very large collection ~ having a guide is helpfull. Overall, Its a little expensive, but totally worth it.

Not a good experience

Our tour guide was not engaged from the start. We could tell that she had another tour to get to because she kept checking her watch and hurrying us along the museum. Her answers were very short and not at all enlightening. What upset me most was that we would walk past the important pieces to get to the “highlights”. Several times I had to stop her and redirect her to explain a certain art piece. She would get flustered easily. At the end I was ready for her to leave so we can continue the visit on our own. Honestly, we had a better experience once we turned on the free Rick Steves audio tour.

Despite the huge crowds, our guide Stefano managed to find places in each of the rooms in Uffizi where we could view the various paintings and sculptures while he shared the many wonderful details and stories, which were unknown to us. Really a delightful way start our museum tours in Florence.

Our tour guide acted like he didn’t want to be there. He started the tour by saying that this wasn’t a test, then proceeded to ask difficult questions and make us feel stupid when I didn’t know the answer. We didn’t learn anything and he rushed through the tour. We only got to see a few things and felt that we wasted the only day we had in Florence with this tour.

Was a particularly BUSY day at the museum according to Fabrizio our guide so it was good to have him give us the highlights of the important pieces to see. He was very thoughtful and knowledgeable giving us historical context for all the art we saw and yes, *tip* DO SKIP THE LINE to maximize your time at top sites in Florence. This city is crazy packed. No point waiting in lines in the sun for entry and not knowing what your are looking at.
