Great walking tour of Asheville

MARION_M, Jan 2026
Leah was great, very informative. Really enjoyed all of the amazing architecture and suggestions on what to do in the area.

Judy J. Is an awesome tour guide!!!

Leane_S, Dec 2025
Judy was very informative and loved back and forth conversation. She definitely loves her job and you can tell as she is upbeat, happy and never appeared to be inconvenienced by questions or comments.

Enjoyed it.

Robert_R, Dec 2025
Good food, refined atmosphere, a little pricey. Plan to share your sides, they are big. Limited parking at the Asheville store.

Disappointing

Norma_B, Dec 2025
They canceled the tour because I was the only one who signed up and they said they couldn't do it with just one person

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Norma, I wish you had provided the entire context of this in the review. You signed up a few hours before the tour was set to start on a day that it was 20 degrees. I offered you to join us the next day or any other day of the week with multiple times available and you just responded to “forget it,” so we went ahead and cancelled the tour as a result. We do our best to make sure all of our guests are happy, but we also have to be sure not to put our guides in a tough situation with just one guest. I hope you and others can understand that.

Worthwhile introduction to Asheville

A beautiful afternoon in Asheville!

Heidi_C, Nov 2025
We’ve been to Asheville before, but wanted to know a little bit more about the buildings , history of the area from a local perspective!! It was an easy social walk and we had a beautiful day. ! Peter was great!. He was informative, funny and was very knowledgeable about the history of the city.

Excellent Tour with Peter: Highly Recommend

Peter_H, Nov 2025
Peter gave a very thoughtful informative tour covering the history of Asheville and more recent events. His background as a teacher showed as he kept a diverse group engaged. He also provided a list of terrific places to eat tailored to our needs. We love Viator Tours and this is one of the best we’ve ever taken.

We like Mike😀

Gail_C, Nov 2025
We really enjoyed our tour with Mike! He is very personable, and engaging, and interesting to talk to. I really feel like we got a wonderful feel for downtown Asheville and how charming it is. I learned a lot about the history and architecture and it was very interesting.

It is very informative and interesting. My husband and I enjoyed every moment. We learned so much about the history of downtown Asheville. You must request Peter as your guide. He was absolutely the best!!

Very informative and our tour guide was very exceptional.

Beate_S, Oct 2025
A very good way to learn and experience things you didn't know about Ashville, NC. The tour had the right amount of time and distance for walking.

Great free local tour

Mary_C, Oct 2025
Great guide and she was so knowledgeable about the local history of Asheville. Why did we have to pay again when it was a free tour? They’re a tip based tour.

Leah was so knowledgeable and clearly loves Asheville. She was very accommodating in pacing the tour to our needs. The stops at the brewery and General Store were nice perks of the tour.. The beer was very good and the popcorn great. Recommendations for restaurants was much appreciated.

David did a great job and had a lot of interesting insights. But your app is not very good. I keep filling out the survey but keep getting message to complete it.

This tour was a great way to see downtown Asheville. Joe was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was very helpful with recommendations.

The tour we experienced...

Bruce_s, Aug 2025
The tour we experienced was not exactly what was offered in the description that Viator gave. It was advertised as a 1 1/2 hr to 2 hr tour which should have also included a stop at a distillery as well as tickets for beer sampling. Our guide was informative but the tour seemed a little rushed and ended in an hour. We did not see a distillery or sample any beer. At the end we tipped the guide and he pressured us for more telling us about the pay structure of the company which left us with a negative feeling

Response from Host, Aug 2025

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience. The distillery is no longer an option downtown since the hurricane that closed it but the map you were given at the end of the tour can be used for the same spirits sampling just in a different location. The beer sampling only happens on days when that restaurant is open but the map can also be used for that. As for the duration and tipping, I am sorry to hear that you were left with a negative feeling. We want all of our guests to enjoy their tours and tip as they feel comfortable. Please reach out at 8284190295 to allow me to make that right to you. We would also love to have you on another tour to show you what an excellent service we can provide!

Excellent tour

Galia_T, Aug 2025

Great way to become familiar with Asheville

Isabel_V, Jul 2025
Our guide Brock was wonderful! Plenty of info regarding Asheville’s history. Also helped us to familiarize ourselves with restaurants, bars and activities in the area. Highly recommend!!

Great way to learn and experience Asheville.

Angela_D, Jul 2025
Our guide Peter was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He made the city come alive through his storytelling. It is a wonderful way to experience and learn about the city, the city’s history and culture. Highly recommend doing the private guided tour, well worth the money. It was the first thing we did when we arrived into town and it set us up for being able to navigate the city for the rest of the time we were here.

amiram_s, Jul 2025
Jo was great. two hours filled with information about Asheville and its history combined with culinary tidbits and local folklore. A must on your first time in the city.

You will be blown away by this tour of Asheville!

Lynn_W, Jul 2025
We're 2 friends from Cape Cod and Georgia, who met in Asheville. Neither had been to Asheville before, so took the walking tour to learn about this fabulous city. We were blown away by the tour Peter took us on. He was able to condense history, gossip, politics, architecture, restaurant reviews and effects & comeback of Hurricane Helene in less than 2 hours. Then gave us hints on what we should check out when our tour was over. What a city, but we'd never have appreciated it in the same way without his tour.

Learning a little bit of history always make traveling/sightseeing within a town that much more better. And I’m super grateful to learn about Asheville on my first time visit.
