Awesome Stargazing Experience @ Mauna Kea with Hawaiian Eyes

Stargazing tour with "James" was interesting, entertaining, and caring. From start to finish James asked how everyone was feeling and made sure everyone felt safe + comfortable. Meeting at Queens Marketplace at the van pick-up curb was very convenient. The Visitor Center was a perfect place to eat our sandwiches + stretch our legs. Reaching the summit was an out of the world experience as we rose out of the clouds into the blue skies and soon to occur sunset. Wear warm clothing as it is very cold up there. Learning about the constellations as we drank hot cocoa amidst twinkling stars in the dark skies was awesome! We didn't want the night to end. James made this adventure a truly memorable + fun experience! Mahalo!!

Best Day Tour

This is a 100% to do while visiting the Big Island! Our driver Mel was the absolute best, he was so knowledgeable and kept our whole group engaged and laughing. 10/10. This was the best experience to be able to see so much of the Big Island all in one day! Another shout out to Mel our group loved that guy! CHE HOOOOO!

Ten stars for a once in a lifetime experience.

If we could give 10 stars we would, as our guides, led by John, were so knowledgeable and professional. The drive to the top of Mauna Kea to view the sunset was an amazing experience on its own but the star gazing was the main event. For those who are older like us ( mid 60s) the altitude does tire you a little more than the youngsters but we just sat in the bus for the last 10 minutes and could still hear the commentary. Don’t let age on its own put you off.

Nice crew and tour!!

The crew was very friendly and accommodating! Plenty of drink options and snacks provided. We were surprised to even receive a nice warm meal with our cruise!!! Was a bit rocky so be prepared. Despite that, we all had a great time!! Would definitely recommend it if you got your sea legs ready!!

First time we have ever...

First time we have ever used Viator for a trip have always used cruise company tours NO more this was a wonderful tour and very reasonable and absolutely no worries about being late for ship. Incredible Manta Ray Experience

Captain Mike and his crew provided an absolute 5-star experience! Parking on the side of the road was easy, and the boat ride out was short and smooth. You don’t have to be an expert swimmer to enjoy this; you just need to be comfortable in snorkel gear. We spent a full 30 minutes floating with three amazing manta rays that swam right up to us. Make sure to bring a waterproof camera!

We enjoyed a fantastic experience

The crew was well organized and on time. My directions that came from the person who answered the phone were terrible! We ended up driving around to locate the desired dock and found it. Good thing we allowed extra time for travel! We enjoyed the 3 men who ran the boat, experience. They were kind, funny, and efficient in their tasks. They were always communicating with each other in a cordial manner. The experience was worth every penny paid and we gave a generous tip to boot! We will likely repeat this experience again the next time we return to the Big Island.

Be prepared for a long day, but it's totally worth it! You get to see a great snapshot of the island. Kawika, our tour guide, was fantastic and shared a huge amount of history and fun facts throughout the day. The stops were well placed and the volcano is a must see. If you have the chance, definitely take this tour!

Worthy of Your Time

Our tour guide Eugene made the experience wonderful, exciting and memorable. Even when things didn’t go as planned, clouds blocking the view of the stars, mist and rain on the summit of Mauna Kea, chill in the air or even some high altitude light headedness; Eugene provided amazing insight into the mountains, the history of the Hawaiians and geography of a most beautiful mountain that we all shared. Our vehicle was comfortable, making several pit stops to allow each of to acclimatize and explore as we climbed up the mountain. The tour provided a good tasty and very hot soup as our meal; providing plenty of tea, water and coffee for your very needs. We would highly recommend this tour above all others. This is our second trip and both times we had difficulty seeing the stars but Eugene got us to the summit. While we were unable to see the stars because of weather conditions that came in before the stars came out, we were able too see as beautiful sunsets providing us with another great memory. Moreover, the tour refunded us half of our money because we were unable to star gaze. This is worth the trip. Good luck.

Spectacular!

Magical I still have a hard time believing this experience actually happened. These creatures are so wonderful. The crew is great at navigating where the mantas are and kept everyone safe. There were 2 people with anxiety attacks that they calmly escorted back to the boat without it interfering with the rest of the groups time in the water. Great team, great animals, overall would absolutely book with this company again.
