The tour bus driver/guide...
The tour bus driver/guide Captain Matty was awesome. He was knowledgeable and very entertaining as he drove us to and from the plantation. Throughout the drive he included the historical facts/stories about Charleston, Carolina and the Plantation. What’s I found interesting about Captain Matty his voice reminds me of Ted Lasso and he looks like he could be from the Kelce family.
The tour we had of the Magnolia Plantation included three tours that are optional at assigned times or you can explore the plantation on your own or take the tours. We had the plantation house, Group Slavery to Freedom Tour and the tram ride around the plantation. The tour of the main house is definitely good and lasts 45 minutes. They talk about some family history, the history of the plantation and some of the furnishings. The second included tour was a 30 minute presentation by a young woman, I believe her name was Danica. She talked about how the enslaved people were captured in Africa, transported across the Atlantic and ultimately wound up at the plantation. She also talked how the original cash crop of the plantation was rice. She described living and working conditions and how life evolved after the Civil War when many former enslaved became employees of the plantation. They also have a number of cabins that represent how they lived through the years. Finally the tram around the plantation, honestly I don’t think it’s worth the time since all you do ride around dense forest vegetation for 45 minutes and never see the gardens except for mansion towards the very end. You could use that time better exploring the gardens on your own.

Great tour!
Cooper is an excellent tour guide! His knowledge of Charleston history is obvious. I’ve done a few of the walking tours and they’re all different on some level. We had family and friends along on this one and altho’ all the tours are great I must say this was probably the best. I learned new information regarding historical Charleston as I have on each tour. Charleston definitely has a layered history - each tour is different. Definitely recommend!! Jim

Unmissable experience - highly recommended!
This was a wonderful experience and the highlight of my trip to Charleston. Fascinating history associated with the plantation, all brought to life by the excellent tour guides on site. A special mention must go to the guide Ed who showed tourists around the main hall. The combination of his natural warmth and tremendous sense of humour will live long in the memory! An absolute must see attraction in Charleston.

City Tour
This is a very nice and relaxing tour of the city. A carriage ride would have been a great way to view the city but we opted for a vehicle with air-conditioning which was very convenient for summer.
Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and per my husband had great driving skills!

Beautiful
Wonderful experience. Beautiful property. Hours there was well spent. Scott (our tour guide was a wealth of information). We did not have a chance to do the freedom walk or the river tour but we would love to return and do it. The day that we were there was saturated with mosquitoes. I recommend bringing some repellent or be prepared to pay about $10 to buy 3 oz at facility

Ghosts of Charleston Walking tour
Here’s a polished review you could post:
We had an incredible experience on the Ghosts of Charleston Walking Tour, thanks to our guide, Kim! From the moment the tour began, her energy was contagious and kept everyone engaged. She has an amazing gift for storytelling, bringing Charleston’s haunted history to life with the perfect mix of fascinating facts, suspense, and humor.
Kim made the city’s history feel immersive and captivating, and her enthusiasm never faded throughout the tour. We laughed, learned, and were completely drawn into every story she shared. If you’re looking for a walking tour that’s entertaining, informative, and unforgettable, ask for Kim—you won’t be disappointed!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend!

Janine was such an amazing tour guide for the walking ghost and gravestone tour! I learned so much history about Charleston. I really loved the fact there were opportunities to pick her brain about the area and ask questions. The way she explained the stories really made them come alive! Highly recommend!

Do NOT Miss out on a tour with Mike!!!
We had an excellent tour of Middleton Place with Mike. His knowledge of the history, gardens, and significance of the property made the experience both educational and enjoyable. Mike was engaging, friendly, and passionate about sharing the stories behind this beautiful landmark. He answered all of our questions and made the tour interesting from start to finish. We left with a much greater appreciation for Charleston's history. Highly recommend Mike to anyone looking for a memorable and informative tour experience! Mike's personal knowledge and love for the city comes through in the conversations and information he shares. He is one of a kind and a jewel of a tour guide!!

Lord Harvey the Christmas Tour Guide is the Best
We took our tour with Lord Harvey. He was fantastic! Filled with the Christmas spirit literally from the moment he checked us in until the moment he dropped us off. I’ve never seen someone put so much effort into a tour. He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable, punctual, flexible, and festive. It was like being toured around by Buddy the Elf. The park was great. Lots of fun light sculptures. Recommend for young children

Great Tour. Just Right Amount of Time and Detail
Amazing and detailed tour! Our guide Allen, although not native to SC, surely did his research and shared our American history in an accurate and compassionate way. Relevant and appropriate for family members of all ages. This is the tour to take! About 90 minutes, comfortable ride, not crowded, just all around GREAT!

Not seeing something you are looking for?
Downtown Charleston is wonderfully walkable. However, book a Charleston bus tour if you want to cover a lot of ground in a short time while taking in the most important and photogenic sights. Especially on hot, humid days—not unusual in South Carolina, especially in the summer months—you can relax in an air-conditioned coach while listening to your guide share entertaining and informative commentary. Some Charleston bus tours include museum admission or opportunities to get off the bus for photo ops.
