The excursion was excellent. We did have a problem with the address and location to meet the group. We had a 2.5 mile walk. You should have indicated it was at the Bus Barn.

A pleasant drive to Boone Hall Plantation from Charleston perfectly narrated by our driver. The grounds are spectacular! As you drive down the Oak Lined Drive you are transported back in time. The Gullah people gave a historic presentation of their ancestors life as enslaved people. I would recommend this tour.

There are many great exhibits to view. It was very informative and kept interest. Well worth the time.

I would definitely recommend this tour if you want historical information on this period of history especially from the perspective of the slaves. The Gullah presenter was very interesting!

Very nice tour. We toured the main house, stable, did the farm tour and the Gullah presentation. We also wandered through the cabin displays and garden. We were there about 3 hours and fit it all in with careful planning. We liked the farm tour with the tractor the best and the Gullah presentation the least. We could barely hear the speaker of the Gullah presentation and she wasn’t very engaging.

Everyone was very knowledgeable. The grounds were so beautifully kept. Definitely a must see. Make sure to see it all, so much history and knowledge being shared.

This is probably one of my favorite tours in Charleston. Greg was such a great host/driver. I was able to learn so much throughout this tour and met some amazing people and just had a great time.

Spent three hours there on a group tour, attended every aspect of the property, and left learning almost nothing about slavery. Heard the presentations about various owners of the property, toured the gardens, watched the videos about all of the Hollywood productions filmed there, learned about the cotton gin in the little museum, learned about the animals and the crops they now sell when we went on the tractor tour, and saw the bride and groom walking around because it’s wedding venue. The only bits we got about slavery were the 20 minute slave experience talk that focused on where they think the slaves lived, got to walk through the nine slave quarter buildings which gave very basic info, and heard a presentation from a Gullah woman (best part of the day) which talked only a bit about slaves being captured and transported and focused more on the natural healing properties of the local plants they had to use for medicine. We left feeling like it was a completely sanitized retelling of the past and instead a promotion of what is actually a very beautiful property. Will have to go to the old slave Mart museum to actually learn something.

Driver had so much knowledge and overall was great experience .living out my notebook story and the place is just breath taking
Suzanne_K, Mar 2026
The property and gardens are beautiful, but the house is not the original plantation house. It was built in the 30’s and they only show you 3 rooms on the tour. The best event was a fantastic presentation of the Gullah culture.
Disappointing 😕

Gregg was a great tour driver he explained a lot of information of what we were going to see at the Boon Hall Plantation. Provided us directions when we got there so we knew how to make the most of our time at the plantation. On the drive there he pointed out things to look at and could take pictures from the shuttle. He was very professional and friendly.

The Gullah lady was the best part of the tour! The mansion was beautiful but that storyteller was fabulous!!!
Nancy_K, Dec 2025
Found out that this plantation house and Magnolia plantation house were not Civil War era. I was disappointed. Loved the driveway of live oaks.
Evelyn_N, Dec 2025
Interesting tour of a functioning plantation.
Life on a plantation from the 1700s through the emancipation and afterward.
Karen_K, Nov 2025
Be sure to go to the main building first to get an appt to tour the house. Don’t miss the Gullah presentation. If you get hungry go to the Butterfly Building near the horse stalls for sandwiches and snacks.
We had a substitute driver and he had a gravelly voice we couldn’t understand,, and let us off at the wrong place.
Greg_O, Nov 2025
Beautiful scenery! Lots f interesting facts about the history plantation were learned. Touring the slave shacks was very emotional.

Was on a girl's trip to Charleston. The tour was great. We were lucky to make it, though. Viator gave us the wrong address.
Kenneth_P, Oct 2025
Very relaxing and a lot of history. Not far from Charleston District. Very well organized thru out the excursion.
Zara_H, Oct 2025
It was a beautiful place to walk around in the sun. The Gullah experience was the highlight and the presentation about slave history was very good. The staff are all very knowledgeable. Our coach driver was also very friendly and knowledgeable. It is a bit of a shame that there isn’t more visual information about the brick making, indigo and cotton farming, to compliment the presentation. If I was recommending the trip to a friend, I would point out that the house is less than a hundred years old.
Nita_H, Oct 2025
Beautiful Plantation! The Moss Trees were amazing, The Gullah presentation was very informative and the tractor ride was fun!
Gina_G, Sept 2025
Boone Hall Plantation and gardens for a thought provoking experience. Profound. One of America’s oldest working, living plantations producing strawberries, peaches, pecans and many others.
The Gullah presentation was informative and heart felt. Full of history and heart break.
The sweetgrass baskets are a specialty basket woven and multi use. They take weeks to months to make and a so multipurpose.
