Nice ride with bits of interesting info. The singing conductor was truly an added bonus - entertaining and delightful.

What a fun experience! The conductor announced lots of interesting facts about the Skunk Train and pointed out what to look for. There was another worker who sang and played guitar really well. The stop at Crowley was filled with chairs to sit on and fun activities to play. I loved the snack area where you could order drinks and food. Everyone was super friendly!

I would expect to pay about 40 to $50 per person for this type of experience. It was about $84 a person. Train ride to puddling Creek stopping point from downtown fort Bragg is no more than about 10 minutes. You then stop at the shaded area which has decent bathrooms. A .9 mile loop trail which is pretty. From the time you get off the train and you get 45 minutes until we need to be back on the train unless you decide to wait for the following train which would be back in about 2 hours or so. If in fact they are running another train that day. It's a fun little unique excursion with fun history however it definitely felt price gouged. And make sure that you are buying your ticket to the correct skunk train location. The steam train is located downtown in fort Bragg that goes to puddling Creek a short 10-minute ride or so. This come train that's inland about 1 hour from downtown fort Bragg I believe is a longer ride. I believe that train uses a diesel electric locomotive to pull its guests and train cars. If you care to spend extra you can ask the ticket booth personnel for the presidential cabin which has some really fancy old suede green chairs that you can sit in. At least at locomotive 45 steam train going to puddling Creek from fort Bragg.
You might have a better experience if you did The night time excursion with jackets and campfires a cocktail in a s'more.

Like I saw in one review there are not a lot of redwoods. It was ok, a nice outing but I would say not worth $70!

Seats are old and a bit uncomfortable, but the ride itself was interesting with lovely scenery and a singing/guitar playing conductor singing railroad songs. The turn-around point where you can get off the train for a few minutes allows for GREAT views of the unusual Wolf Tree, with an explanation of how it got the name.

Better trip out of Willits than Fort Bragg. The singing conductor is great entertainment during the scenic and enjoyable trip!

This was so much fun! We celebrated 2 birthdays and had an absolute blast!
We loved the entertainment while on board and also at the stop. Seriously a fabulous 2 hours.

The trip was good, with amazing views and live music. The music conductor did an awesome job. However it’s a bit over priced. Also the afternoon trips are hot.

We had a great time, the singer on the train made the experience better. The people on the train were fun. You have to do this at least once in your life.

My husband and I were celebrating our 43rd anniversary and had wanted to travel on the Skunk Train for several years. We had a wonderful time on board the train. One of the conductors played the guitar and sang songs which many of us knew and that a great sing along. Once at Crowley (the turn around spot) we were able to deboard and walk around this former logging camp. It was a lovely morning and we had a great time.

Malakai was the best!! If he wasn't there I would have given it a two star. His entertainment was outstanding!!!

Good fun all around! A great way to spend 2 hours! Good options for food and drinks, and some fun entertainment on the ride!

Much better than the Fort Bragg end. It's a longer and more scenic journey. If you like trains, this trip is a must do!

It was amazing. It was a hot day, so we decided to stay in an open area and loved it.
There was a 30-minute stop, but it was a hot day, and not enough shade was available, so I stayed on the train.
The best part was live music by an amazing artist who was kind to everyone.
He even sang my request, “Take me home.” He sure is another reason to get back on the train.
Yes its worth it, take food and drinks with you and some shade/ sun block too.

A bit disappointed in what was advertised. Homeless folks and trash and neglected scenery took away from the experience. Also wanted to at least see the steam locomotive. It has not been running and should been explained in brochure .A bit pricey and gift shop was very expensive!

We really enjoyed the Train Singer. He made the trip a real happy place to be. The Bar server was also great fun. We all enjoyed the tide & wound to it again.

This is a very family friendly and entertaining experience!
From the ticket sale to the conductor and and all the staff - professional, friendly and engaging - all served up with smiles!
I recommend being in the open air car and drinking a Skunk Train Amber Ale!
Going back again!

Excellent time with the grand children they loved the conductor.and the experience of riding a train through the redwoods
Bruce_R, Aug 2022
I really liked the Railroad Singer! I also found the train itself to be of interest, particularly how the engine changed directions.
Richard_C, Sept 2021
Riding on a vintage railroad through the redwoods was awesome. It was fun to be in a restored coach car being pulled by an old Diesel engine.
Paul_G, Sept 2020
Pleasant day and only a handful of riders on the train. Cars were clean and masks and social distancing observed by all. Conductor offered interesting commentary along the trip, but a drive in the Navarro Redwoods State Park offers significantly more redwoods if that’s what interests you in this trip. $2 for a handful (literally) of popcorn was a bit of a shock, even on a tourist event like this.
Ediena_P, Aug 2019
Nice ride through some woods with some redwoods. A bit disappointing and overpriced. Enjoyed the singer. Outdoor car was pleasant. Wouldn't do it again.
Nayli_P, Jun 2024
Hermoso todo y la parte que cantaba y toco la flauta en el bosque que era el rivaisor de los tickets.
