No special permits or tickets are required for the Weeping Rock Trail itself, although national park entrance fees apply: Zion entry costs US$35 per vehicle (allowing entry for all passengers), US$30 for motorcycles, and US$20 for pedestrians arriving on foot. All passes are valid for seven days. You don’t need a reservation or ticket to ride the Zion Canyon Shuttle.

The Weeping Rock Trail reopened to visitors in September 2025 following a 2-year closure. It’s not the first time, either—the trail was reopened in November 2022 after a 2019 rockfall, but another rockfall in 2023 closed the trail again. The Weeping Rock Trail leads to a large bowl-shaped alcove where ancient water seeps through Navajo Sandstone, creating lush hanging gardens and a "weeping" effect. You’ll also catch excellent views of Zion Canyon as it spreads out below you, and do look for the pointy peak of the Great White Throne, south of Weeping Rock.

Weeping Rock Trail is accessed via shuttle stop 7 (Weeping Rock) on the Zion Canyon Shuttle system, which is free, and no reservations are required. During shuttle season (March to November and the winter holidays), this is the only way to access the trail, as private vehicles aren’t allowed down Zion Canyon Scenic Drive.

Weeping Rock Trail is a short but steep paved trail that gains 98 feet (30 meters) of elevation in 0.4 miles (0.6 kilometers). It takes most visitors around 30 minutes to complete the round-trip hike, not including time spent taking in the scenery. While it's considered an easy, family-friendly hike, the trail features several stairs and minor drop-offs, which means it is not accessible to travelers using wheelchairs or with limited mobility, despite being paved.
