Must do experience!

I can not recommend Viator/ Sintra private tours enough. Our guide was a wealth of knowledge, took us to amazing spots for food and treats and was able to outrageously long lines. It truly felt like VIP service. If you do one thing on your trip to Lisbon/Portugal, it should be this.

Wonderful Sintra Tour and Guide

We had an excellent day touring Sintra with our guide, Ricardo. He picked us up right in front of our VRBO and took us to several incredible stops, including Sintra, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais. Ricardo was raised in Sintra and knew all the history and efficient routes. The vehicle, a Mazda 5, worked well for four people. It was a little underpowered at times, but overall it was comfortable enough and effective for the day. Ricardo took us to a local restaurant that was excellent, well priced, and not crowded. Going to this restaurant also allowed us to get dropped off right in front of Quinta da Regaleira afterwards, which was a huge time saver. From there, the Initiation Well was just a short walk up, making that part of the visit much easier and more convenient. Quinta da Regaleira did require us to buy a ticket, which we purchased on the way. However, because it is such a popular and busy site, the time slot we needed was nearly sold out. I would definitely recommend planning this in advance with your guide, especially if Regaleira is high on your list. I would also recommend coordinating with your guide ahead of time if you already know the places you want to visit. That way, they can help plan the day as efficiently as possible. The monuments around Sintra are spread out and can be difficult to access if you do not know the area, so having a guide made a big difference. In my opinion, a guide is the best way to make the most of your time, get the most out of the experience, and avoid a lot of potential frustration. This was a memorable and very worthwhile day trip. Best Tour Guide Ever

I’ll start by saying I’ve generally had middling experiences with tour guides. Often they can be too heavy handed, too serious, too tedious. But all I can say is Medhi is far and away the best guide I’ve ever had. He drove us around the beautiful mountainside of Sintra for over 9 hours, taking us to every major site, and explaining the rich history and hidden lore of each place we visited with passion, humor, and intrigue. We came away from this experience far more knowledgeable than when we went in, and in the process by the end we felt like we made a close friend. If you’re looking for a guide on your trip through Portugal, I would not book anyone else. Thank you Medhi for the truly special experience! Highly highly recommend.

Amazing guide and tour!

We had Bruno as our guide. We had originally booked a tour with another company and they cancelled last minute. A Short Stopover in Sintra!

We stopped in Sintra between stays in Coimbra and Lisbon. We did not have much time but hired Caio for a private tuk tuk tour. Caio picked us up right by the train station, took care of storing our luggage, and gave us a great tour of the area. We saw the gorgeous vegetation, the castles and the coastal area. Caio was knowledgeable, kind and paid attention to our schedule. He also made the extra effort to get our luggage and us back to the train station on time. Highly recommend this private tour with Caio!

I recommend starting early in the Tesla with Francisco to avoid the crowds. He asked our interests so we had a customized itinerary with plenty of walking, gardens, delicious pastries and lunch, and a variety of palaces. A superb day trip from Lisbon! So gorgeous! Francisco is a safe and knowledgable drive and patient and enthusiastic with all of our questions. Very kind and mellow soul.

So great we booked again second day on the spot!

Such a great tour, we booked again for the next day! Everything was unbelievably perfect. The logistics were superb-easy pickup at our hotel, great communication, perfect van. All the details were handled. Our guide, Marta, had coordinated beforehand and made lunch reservations and had everything handled. But, hands down, the highlight was our guide herself, Marta! She was an absolute joy-friendly, knowledgeable, perfect English, and just an overall great person. I’d say we all became friends after our two days together. (And we really did book her for a trip to Fatima the next day on the spot. We had such a great time with her, we were ecstatic to spend the next day as well!) Can’t recommend this tour enough! It was perfect!!
