Discover Etna and the Alcantara Gorges! The perfect mix of adventure and refreshing relax! The excursion begins by SUV or minivan (up to 8 people), together with our experienced guides. Our first stop is an off-road trip to the 2002 eruption lava fron. Continuing along the Via Mareneve, in the middle of the Ragabo pine forest, we will arrive at the starting point of our trekking to the Monti Sartorius craters. We will continue on foot, starting at 1650 metres and arriving at an altitude of 1750 metres, an easy walk suitable for everyone. We will then explore a lava flow cave, the Grotta dei Ladroni, equipped with helmets and torches. We will stop at a local chalet or restaurant for lunch (included in the price: a first course, water and coffee/tea). After lunch, we will reach the characteristic Alcantara Gorges, also known as the Larderia Gorges. A refreshing and relaxing visit to a wonderful place. Etna Lunch and Taormina

Our guide Carmelo made this tour a wonderful experience. He got us to Mt Etna and guided us through the aerial cable car and onto the 6000 ft elevation while informing us of the geology and history of the volcano. Nearby he gave us helmets so we could enter a lava cave. Carmelo recommended a place for lunch in Ragalna that was fabulous. From there we travel to Taormina where we had free time to roam the city streets and shops. All and all a five star experience. Kudos to Carmelo.

Great experience with Diego!

Had a great time with our English-speaking guide Diego! He's very knowledgeable about the nature, landscape, and history of not just Mount Etna but all of Sicilia. He took the time to explain and diagram everything and answered all questions while expertly and safely guiding us along. It was a bit chilly and windy up at the craters but they provide jackets and hiking boots (don't forget socks!) as well as walking sticks for those who need them. For the Alcantara gorges, I'd suggest wearing or bringing swim shoes or Tevas type of footwear so you can wade in the water without hurting your feet on the rocks

A Path Best Taken

Luca ensured that every moment of this experience was unforgettable. During our drive to the site, he gave us background history of Catania and Mt Etna to prepare us for the adventure. When we got there, our first stop was an idyllic area where we got to take in an old lava flow. It was huge and beautiful. During that time, we sampled local trays, homemade biscotti and local wine, if we wished. After that, we drove down the road. Suited up with helmets and flashlights, we explored an old lava tube, with his guidance, an experience of a lifetime. Before our final adventure, we we given time for a snack and a break. We then hiked about about an hour around the rim of an amazing volcanic crater, truly amazing. Luca guide. He truly cared sbout those of us he guiding, not about himself, upselling us, or angling for a big tip, as we experienced just the day before. He made sure I comfortable with the hike. I am pretty fit, but older and had recent back issues. I am so glad he encouraged me to try it and he looked out for me along the way. We also had my family, including my 5 ur old grandson and he did well with every past of the trip. I will always remember this experience. Luca was also fun, playing popular and Italian music. This was not the most luxury tour I ever took, but it was one of the best. Thank you Luca. You are a true professional and obviously love what you do!

Above and beyond the perceived value

Super professional, GREAT tour guide Marriata. She took the time to bake us Sicilian pastries on the bus ride to Castelmola and provided waters as well. Lots of super interesting information and gave us ample free time to explore on our own. My wife and I appreciated her pride of Sicilian culture and how she shared her opinions and her sincerity throughout the excursion, returned on time and truly felt like we got extreme value for what we paid for.

Awesome experience. Great history and intriguing to correlate the scenes from the movie to actual locations and landmarks. The tour guide Mocello was very thorough, funny, and personable. I would actually take the tour again, if I'm in Taormina. The experience was magnificent and will definitely have you looking at the Godfather movie from a different lens.

A Must Do!

This tour was probably the best tour we have ever taken! Organized and breathtaking! We were on a small speed boat (no more than 12 people) and our guide Vito was the best! He truly loves what he does and it shows! The places he took us too to swim were the best we have ever seen. Thank you Vito for an unforgettable experience we will be back!
