We had a wonderfull trip to beautiful Etna, we visited a underrground cavern and went on a hike on Etna itself. We had the pleasure of the most insightfull guide Emily. 10/10

Interesting tour. There were a few too many people on the tour (2 buses with 8 people per bus) so it was a bit hard to hear what the guide was saying especially in the lava cave but interesting none the less. Bring your own flashlight for the caves as the flashlights provided weren't great. Guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that you had difficulty hearing the guide during the cave visit. We truly appreciate your feedback and will certainly work on improving this aspect for future tours.
At the same time, we are pleased to know that you appreciated guide’s knowledge, professionalism, and friendliness, as these are qualities we highly value.
Regarding the flashlights, our guides always carry spare ones. We kindly encourage our guests to inform the guide immediately if a flashlight is not working properly, so that it can be promptly replaced and the experience can continue more comfortably.
We are also sorry that the size of the group negatively affected your overall experience. As a gesture of apology, we would be happy to welcome you back as our guest on a future tour with a smaller group.
Kind regards,
Etna Est Staff

Great tour, highly recommended. Visiting a few really interesting places, e.g. a lava cave. A very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Overall, well organised .
Dinesh_S, May 2026
Our guide Daphne was very informative about Mt Etna and shared a lot of interesting information about both the volcano as well as about Sicily. We would definitely recommend this tour especially with Daphne. The lava cave visit was very thrilling and one of a kind.
Silvia_B, May 2026
Our guide Emilia has rich knowledge of Etna, especially history of volcano and geology of the volcanic regions. She is kind and helpful. I have some difficulty of walking on the sandy volcano field, she held me in her arm and helped to walked down safely!

Great small group (7 people) trip to about 2200 meters high on Mount Etna. Had the benefit of our guide, Gabrielle, being well-versed in mountaineering and chemistry. He was informative and helpful throughout.
Sonya_B, May 2026
Daphne was an exceptional tour guide. She explained the history and geophysical aspects of Etna very well. We enjoyed the short hike, cave tour, and scenic drive. Highly recommend.
Ian_B, May 2026
Massimo, our guide was excellent and despite driving through the clouds to get to Etna the view of the volcano was fab - he even brought drinks and biscuits for when we reached the crater

The trip to Etna with Daphne was absolutely wonderful. She was so friendly and kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Mt. Etna and the details about how volcanoes function. It was so interesting and so enjoyable. Truly an unforgettable day. Grazie mille! 🤩🙏

Our Guide Mauricio was so informative and patient with the slower walker (me)! We had a wonderful day!
Vicky_C, Apr 2026
Daphne was our guide and she is very knowledgeable in explaining everything about Etna. We went to see lava cave and had a good hike on one of the crater of Etna at 2000m, which still had a incredible view from up there. It was an immersive experience of knowing a bit more about this Volcano. Would highly recommend!

Had a great time thanks to our guide Leonardo who has a real passion for volcanoes. I was able to borrow hiking boots (sneakers would be ok but with so much loose gravel, boots are best). I had been worried about being underdressed because the reported temperature at the top was below freezing (this is in late aprili), but a sweatshirt and light jacket were fine. The hike is moderately strenuous but only one hour. We had time for a couple nice breaks on the way up and after our hike to have some food.

The tour was overall great!
Very responsive tour operator, knowledgeable and nice tour guide, punctual pick-up, small group (8 people).
We went to the Refugio and then walked for ca. 1 h in the area. Afterwards we went to a lava cave, and a viewpoint.
Only small improvement point: there was no real time to eat some lunch (except in the car).
Jim_B, Apr 2026
The guide and his girlfriend were very nice. His English is not great but good enough.
Note that this tour doesn’t take you to the top of the crater; just up to where the gondola starts (it’s broken for the long term). Anyway, hike around lower blowout crater, then get overlook on back side of Etna. Good way to get up there and price is reasonable. Not bad.

The tour was incredible with an amazing tour guide, so knowledgeable and took us to the caves and a great view point
Pamala_B, Mar 2026
Involves climbing and small spaces (cave). We had snow so the visibility was limited but still a wonderful experience. Daphne was our guide and she is excellent and was very knowledgeable and helpful for those who were not as "fit" as others.. Would go again!
Darlene_C, Mar 2026
We went in the end of March. Dress warm. There is still snow on mt Etna. The whose experience was great. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Kaitie_B, Mar 2026
Despite bad weather, Daphne was a wonderful, knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide! Would recommend!
EB_W, Mar 2026
This was a once in a lifetime experience. We were inside the volcano lava flow and also at the summit in the same day. Our guide was knowledgeable and amazingly friendly.
Petras_T, Mar 2026
Great Guide Marcell, recommended very much, very genuine guy. Picked us up at our hotel and dropped us back after. Incredible experience 👍
Victoria_K, Feb 2026
Daphne was a great guide. She was full of great stories and information about Etna that you would not get if you went by yourself. Really appreciated that she switched between Italian and English to make sure everyone had the same info. Highly recommend it.
Sascha_K, Feb 2026
Daphne, our tour guide, was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the volcano. We can highly recommend the tour.
Francis_K, Jan 2026
Despite the extreme weather conditions before the tour they shared an amazing experience as close as possible! Would def recommend, good energy :)
Eckart_K, Jan 2026
We did not go to the top (what was not agreed anyway) however due to the weather condition we could see only one crater as we got stuck in the snow. Nonetheless the tour guide is very nice and competent and looked for alternative solution.
Stanley_W, Jan 2026
The tour was exactly as promised. The view of the lava field, the lava cave and the walk up to the little crater. It was all very interesting and our guide was excellent.
John_M, Dec 2025
A wonderful experience though quite far away. Our guide Daniel was incredibly knowledgeable and very kind. Would definitely recommend this trip.
AmbiKka_S, Dec 2025
This was a great experience. The tour guide picked us up from our hotel and was very knowledgeable. She shared so much interesting information about Mount Etna and Catania and even showed us videos from past eruptions. She also got us some local wine to taste, which was a nice surprise. The group was very fun and international. Mount Etna is breathtaking and incredibly beautiful. Highly recommended!
Andre_B, Dec 2025
Excellent tour. The guide knew everything about the volcano and the region. Very friendly and on time. Duration and level of difficulty adequate for most physical preparedness and ages
Nicole_G, Nov 2025
It was ok, but for my taste the guide was too busy trying to be funny and repeating the same jokes over and over again (for 5 hours!), instead letting us know in a normal tone what's going to happen next. it gets exhausting trying to listen and extract the actual information from what he said. in my opinion he should be more attentive and "read the room" to see what people are interested in, instead of giving us his standard show.
content wise: you get driven to a viewpoint to see a big lava flow from a few years ago (10 minute stop, no need to bring the backpack), then a lava cave (45? min stop, no need to bring anything because helmet and torch are supplied), then you'll reach the tourist village on top (short lunch break for toilet and to eat your picknick, but plenty of food to buy there), then a 1.5 hours hike up to different craters and cold lava flows (actually also no need to bring your bag, if you can last 1.5 hours without water).
all in all the program is probably pretty standard and was interesting, so I would recommend, the enjoyment probably depends on your taste and which guide you end up with
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Hi,
We are sorry to hear your remarks.
Iorga, your guide, is extremely knowledgeable as well as highly professional.
If he allowed himself a bit of humor, it was likely intended to lighten the atmosphere during a six-hour tour and explanations, which might otherwise have felt tedious.
Iorga is also a very accommodating person, and had his manner of speaking bothered you, it would have been sufficient to let him know.
We nevertheless thank you for joining us and look forward to welcoming you again on another occasion to offer you a new tour.
Best Regards,
Etna Est Staff
