Super trip, umberto was a great guide. Castelbuono is charming and tranquil. Lovely food tasting experiences with the local produce. Cefalu is just a gorgeous combination of architecture and a beautiful beach set against the mountains. Even in late October it was warm and sunny and a real treat. Lovely trip and not too far in the car from Palermo.

Your morning starts at Piazza Pretoria or with pickup from anywhere in Palermo—including the port—by air-conditioned vehicle.

With this trip, you have the benefit of choosing to travel in a luxury or regular van depending on your budget and needs.

If you’ve chosen the full tour option with both Castelbuono and Cefalù, you’ll depart Palermo and head straight for Castelbuono, a medieval village nestled in the Madonie Regional Natural Park. Visit the Castle of Ventimiglia and the Old Town, and sample artisan pastries and sweets.

After about three hours in Castelbuono, get back in the van and take a short drive to Cefalù, where you visit the UNESCO-listed Arab-Norman Cathedral, the Old Town, port, medieval washhouse, and the city’s beach. Take advantage of free time for shopping or exploring the city center before returning to Palermo.

If you’ve booked the “only Cefalù” tour option, you will spend more time in Cefaù without visiting Castelbuono.

We had a wonderful day visiting Castelbuono and Cefalu with Cristian. Even before we’d left Palermo Cristian was pointing out highlights for us to see. On the very comfortable drive Cristian explained how life had changed in the various towns we passed through giving us a good insight into the area’s past and present. The old town in Castelbuono is lovely and so relaxing after the hustle and bustle of Palermo. Cristian walked us through the atmospheric old town stopping for us to sample local specialties. We then visited the beautiful medieval castle which is well worth a visit. We then drove on to Cefalu. At this time of the year Cefalu is a busy, busy seaside town and the beach was packed. A walk up and down the narrow main street before a well earned lunch along the beachfront. Cristian was a marvellous guide. Always helpful and keen to share his love of Sicily and its culture. This is a must-do tour especially if you want to see more than Palermo.

Cefalu and Montreale with Christian

Christian was the perfect host! If you tour in Sicily - ask for Christian. He was very friendly and charming (he always opened the door for my wife - a sign of a gentleman). He was very informative at every location and he was patient and flexible. After touring Cefalù (which was incredible) we asked to see Montreale in lieu of Castlebuono - he accommodated the change with grace and a smile. If the Catedrale at Montreal’s is not on your itinerary we highly recommend adding it to you trip. Christian - you made a wonderful day for us on our last day in Sicilia. Grazie Mille!

We had a lovely day touring these beautiful towns. Cristian, our driver and un official “tour guide” was fantastic. He was very informative and knowlagable about the areas we went to as well as giving information and pointing out so many interesting things along our drive. At our first stop, Cristian was able to park the car and come along with us. It was wonderful having him there to give us information about Castelbuono. When going to the town, many of the locals knew him and he knew were to bring us. We tasted and bought delicious panatone. It doesn’t compare to what we have in the US. In Cefalù, Cristian was not able to leave his van for long but he made it a point to bring us out and show us around where he could. It was a nice afternoon seeing the beautiful town and having a quick lunch (Italians don’t do quick) and get back to him. We had such a nice day with him that we booked another tour with him for the next day.

This tour takes you to two towns that are interesting to see. Our tour guide walked us through Castelbuono and pointed out things of interest. In Cefalu we were on our own to explore and have lunch. Enjoyed both aspects of the trip.

An absolutely fantastic day. Umberto, our driver, was very friendly and informative. He shared interesting history and knowledge of the area and showed us the sights without being intrusive. An absolutely lovely gentleman. Castelbuono is steeped in history and local customs and you get to try some of the local produce, which tastes amazing. The castel itself is also a must see. In celafu we were left to our own devices and we spent our time having lunch at a restaurant overlooking the sea, wandering up to the cathedral and the paddling in the sea! Overall an excellent day. Would highly recommend.

Umberto, our driver and guide, spoke fluent English and went out of his way to ensure we had a good day. As we were the only couple, we modified our itinerary to visit Cefalu and Monreale Cathedral. The van was very comfortable and we felt safe with Umberto’s handling of the Sicilian traffic. This was an expensive trip but we benefited from Umberto’s local knowledge of restaurants and saw much more in a day than we could have achieved by ourselves. Cefalu and Monreale are truly beautiful locations and well worth visiting. Thank you Umberto for a lovely day.

We had an amazing trip and day adventure on our port to Palermo. We went to Cefalù. The gelato in the Square by the Duomo was absolutely incredible. We spent time on the beach and the water was amazing. We also got to see the church in the city of Monreal. It was beautiful. The views of Palermo from that area were amazing. This was a great experience for our family.

I was fortunate to have Umberto as a guide again. He’s so knowledgeable and personable, the locals of every town know him. He showed me hidden treasures of Castelbuono. The tastings were incredible. Unlike some guides, he personally walked me through Castello di Ventimiglia and the museum, educating me on the history of the attractions. There was enough time in each location. Umberto also educated me on all towns and agriculture we passed during our travels. Not all guides are that informative.

We first went to Castelbuono. It was a peaceful little town, beautiful and full of life and history. Next we went to Cefalu, had a great lunch. It's a beautiful seaside resort. We walked around, took a bunch of photos and had an enjoyable time in April, I can imagine if it was summer. Our driver was great, informative and educational.

Umberto picked us up from our hotel right on time and was an incredible host for the day. We actually ended up going to Cefalu first and then he suggested we go to Monreale instead of Castelbuono which we were grateful for because it was incredible! He walked us through the entire town of Cefalu telling us all about the history and spoke great English. This was so worth it to us, a private tour is the way to go! We were picked up at 8:30am and dropped back off at 5pm.

First class! Cristian was wonderful , patient, and accommodating. Gorgeous sites. Calm, easy going pace. Try the TAIÀNU pasta in Cefalù. Perfecto ! Also, the local Rossa wine with ‘gas’ 3/4 , 1/4!
