Nando was an amazing tour guide with tremendous passion for Etna and the region. We not only got to walk some of the craters on Etna and go into an old lava tube - Nando made an extra stop on the way home so we could look back at the volcano to see the lava flowing. Amazing!!

Lorenzo was absolutely fantastic and this tour was one of our favorite tours! Our experience going into the caves, stopping at local shops for tastings and the hike of Mount Etna were magical and unforgettable! As a family of 5 with 3 adult children, we all enjoyed this so so much! Highly recommend the tour and especially with Lorenzo.

Tour went very far upount Etna, views were breathtaking and a truly one of most spectacular views of all the tours we have taken. Highly recommend both the guide and the tour!

Itala worked really hard to ensure we had the best possible experience. It was obvious she really loves Mt Etna

Stefano was the perfect guide. Knowledgeable and a kind soul I will never forget him. The Volcano is amazing too.

Pepe took us on a nice adventure. We had a great experience on the hike with volcano views. We had a nice tasting experience and cave walk.

Tommaso was a great guide! Knowledgeable, funny and a wonderful attitude. We had a super time from the caves, hiking and sampling wine/honey, plus a beautiful sunset with friendly tourists.

Had an amazing tour of Mt Etna. Our guide Giuseppe was patient and extremely knowledgeable about Mt Etna and Sicily in general. He took the time to answer all of our questions and went out of his way to make the trip unforgettable for the entire group.

This is such an amazing experience and I highly recommend it to anyone travelling in Sicily. On this tour I learned so much about volcanos and our guide Giuseppe shared so much history about mt Etna. The scenery is absolutely striking and it was super interesting to see the craters up close. It felt like being in a whole other world. Definitely a unique and very worthwhile experience!

Great tour guide and exceptional views. Sunset tour is the perfect time to go. We saw the volcano erupting at night which was a sight to behold. Our tour guide (Angelo) did the whole tour in 2 languages and balanced perfectly.
Would recommend to everyone.

If the weather looks doubtful take a raincoat certainly a top to keep warm, a torch would be very useful in addition to a decent camera
Mara_R, Aug 2025
Wonderful experience with Daria! We learned a lot and got to experience the very best of Etna. very thoughtful and adapted experience for a group of different ages. Had great fun and can recommend this wholeheartedly.
Lynn_B, Aug 2025
Salvatore was a great guide. He was very informative and set the hike pace to accommodate the group. Keep in mind that the hike is primarily up hill.
Melissa_A, Aug 2025
The tour guide was very nice but she did not keep the group on pace. It ran way way too long and what we did could have been covered in half the time. Then we were rushed through the tasting.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Melissa,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found the guide pleasant.
As this is a shared group tour, we do need to follow certain timings, especially for sunset departures, to ensure that all participants can fully enjoy the panoramic views of Mount Etna at the best moment of the day.
We regret if the pacing did not meet your expectations and will keep your comments in mind as we continue to improve our service.
Kind regards

This was our favorite experience in Sicily so far! Our guide Tommaso was thorough and engaging. He shared a lot of important information and made the entire experience fun! This location is incredible. We took the evening tour and there were not a lot of people which was nice to have it to ourselves. It felt like we were on another planet with the terrain of volcanic ash and rock. Definitely recommend this experience. It ended up being cold and windy even though it was 80 degrees Fahrenheit back in Taormina. There was a shop where we purchased windbreakers but it’s a good idea to bring your own even if the weather app says it will be warm. On Mt Etna the weather changes quickly.

Our tour with Carmelo was an enjoyable experience. He was fun and personable, and took the time to get to get to know the participants of the tour. You can tell that he is very passionate about Mt. Etna, and shares a lot of information both during the tour and while traveling to and from.
If you are someone who suffers from car sickness, be warned that the trip up and down the mountain has many winding roads. We tasted delicious Etna produced products and then proceeded to hike up a gravel like path (lava stones). You are walking uphill but there are options as to how high you want to go- it’s kind of like you get to choose your own adventure. You will definitely want to wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. It does get chilly and windy, so dress accordingly. Carmelo helped out along the way and if someone was afraid of heights and climbing, he helped calm their fears. We had many laughs and enjoyed spending the afternoon/evening with Carmelo.

Very good trip. Exactly as described. I love volcanos so i am biased but everyone should do this tour. It can get cold, even in summer! So dont forget your jacket!!!!!

Everything about this trip was just fabulous.
Our guide Eduardo was friendly, knowledgable and informative.
We thoroughly enjoyed every part of this trip
Thank you for the memories

The guide with the multivan arrived almost an hour too late, impossible to hear the guiding in the back of the van with no microphone, the arrival at Etna started with an hour of tasting (selling) inside a bar/shop before even seeing anything of the area. The guide was «too funny» and to me a little rude. He talked nonstop without saying anything.
Etna itself was amazing! And also the sunset! Wow!!
Response from Host, Jul 2025
We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the beauty of Etna and the unforgettable sunset.
However, we’re sorry that the guide’s lively and engaging attitude may have come across as rude; it’s certainly never our intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable. This might be a matter of personal or cultural interpretation, and we appreciate your honest feedback.
We’d also like to clarify that the tasting stop is entirely optional and non-obligatory, guests are welcome to try the local products without making any purchases.
We apologize for the slight delay at the start of the tour. Despite this, the experience followed the planned schedule and allowed you to attend your dinner reservation, although we always advise guests to avoid booking commitments too close to the return time, just in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Thank you again for joining us.

This was the perfect experience for what we wanted. Lorenzo was the perfect guide and gave the tour space to breathe. We never felt rushed and were able to enjoy the experience and the views and then we would naturally move into the next part of the tour. The sunset portion of this tour was amazing as well, there were very few people on the mountain at the time and it felt like we had it to ourselves. I would highly recommend this tour and Lorenzo our tour guide. We actually booked another tour with Etna Tribe because of how good of an experience we had and how great Lorenzo was.

We had a late start due to car issues. Despite running late, our guide stopped off at a wine store. I guess we were meant to buy stuff? It was strange. But the biggest problem was that the sun was already almost gone by the time we started. It was very difficult to see one step in front of you by the time we got to the crater. I’m a fit 61 year old who hikes five miles every day, so I’m not intimidated by uphill walking. But walking up and down a crater with precipitous drops on either side, using our phones for light was the epitome of irresponsibility. You know you’re in trouble when your guide is incessantly telling you “don’t be scared”. Then off to a cave in absolute darkness, where we are informed that another tourist has already died by falling into a hole in the cave. Again, our guide thinks that phones are fine to light up the way.
Very disappointed by this tour. My husband and I chose to avoid the ridiculously risky hike and cave in utter darkness. Wish we could get our money (and time!) back, but Viator offers no help in that area. Avoid a sunset hike up a volcano unless there will actually be a sunset and light to see by!
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Dear customer, the proposed route is an easy-level path, traveled daily by thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds, both with guides and independently. We assure you that our staff is specifically trained and highly experienced in managing small groups like yours, always ensuring maximum safety. We are truly sorry that you felt unsafe, despite our guide with a great deal of experience, equipped with flashlights and ready to address any concerns and provide reassurance. We fear that you may have misunderstood his intention, which was simply to calm you and ensure you had a pleasant experience.
Perhaps you were expecting a more even terrain or barriers, but Etna is an active volcano, made especially captivating by its wild nature, which we hope remains preserved for as long as possible."

Great guide who was very knowledgeable and friendly. Stunning views and amazing landscapes.
The cave visit and craters were really special and the size of the craters will amaze you.

Claudio was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide! Took the time to answer all our questions. Takes great photos too!
Rachel_W, Aug 2024
Great visit to Etna. Our guide Carmelo was punctual, informative, and his sense of humor made the experience memorable. The views were spectacular and I would recommend this as a must do while in Sicily.
Marisa_H, Aug 2024
Pepe was a fun guide and knowledgeable. Picked us up at our hotel and on the drive to Etna shared lots of local fun facts and Information. Once we got to the mountain we had a choice to either walk or for an additional coat ride the ATV’s with a different guide. This was very fun! At the end, we sampled some liquors and snacks. Great afternoon/evening.

Seeing Mt Etna spew smoke just before sunset. Our guide few up in this area do was experienced. Witnessed the various lava flows and how it takes a few hundred years after fur plant growth. The craters were fun to walk through in the black and red lava. We stopped for honey and olive oil tasting. A must if you are in this region of Sicily.
Jackie_R, Jul 2024
The trip was absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful tour guide Tommaso. He was funny, kind and informative. We visited a cave, stopped and viewed the mountain from a beautiful viewpoint, tasted some wine and other products produced locally and climbed Mt. Edna. It was breathtaking. Enjoy every moment.
Lynette_B, Jul 2024
Tomasso was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about everything Sicilian. We had a great time.
Amy_P, Jul 2024
This tour was an amazing way to see Etna. Do the ATV add on! Our driver and guide, Andrea, was very knowledgeable and responsive. He provided a wealth of information and suggestions for Sicily and even shared pictures.
Dianne_S, Jul 2024
Hearing the rumbling of Mt Etna while we were doing the tour. Tour guide was in touch prior to tour to organise pick up point. Andrea shared a photo of the vehicle including registration which assisted us to identify him when he arrived. Andrea was very knowledgeable. The food tasting prior to the quad biking was great.
It would have been nice to know that we would need to take a quad bike to have a better & closer view of Mt Etna as this added 130 euros to the cost. There was then a further 10 euros optional to purchase the photos taken by the quad bike
Company. Andrea took photos of us on quad bikes & sent through without any charge.
