Porto to Lisbon

Antonio arrived promptly for our ride from Porto to Lisbon and was thoroughly engaging and informative for the entire journey. Our stops included a visit to Fatima on October 13th, which happened to coincide with a massive celebration/pilgrimage (~100,000 participants) requiring some maneuvering on Antonio’s part to get us in and out to get to our next stop in Nazaré. He had made a reservation at an incredibly charming cafe there for lunch, serving freshest seafood imaginable. He then toured us through the sites in the cliffs above town, including a beautiful cathedral and the surf museum.. it was the perfect way to wrap up our 2 week visit to Portugal.

Highlight of my trip to Porto

The Douro valley is otherworldly in it's beauty, and this small group tour was wonderful. There were 7 of us, plus our fabulous driver, Anna. She negotiated the winding roads and brought us to two smaller vineyards to sample wines and have a hearty lunch. Oh, and there's a boat ride on the river, too.

Andre was our guide, his history knowledge, easy to understand English, and friendly disposition made the tour extremely enjoyable. Was a great way to start our time in Porto as Andre pointed out many points of interest that we otherwise would not have known to look for. Can't beat local knowledge and the fact that it was a private tour just for our group of four made it personal. Thanks also for your recommendation for the chicken place, we went there for lunch- delicious! Highly recommended.

Gorgeous day in the Duoro Valley with Sara!

We had a wonderful day traveling through the Duoro wine valley with our guide, Sara, who was for sure a highlight of the trip!! We were picked up and dropped off from our hotel, which was extremely convenient, and whisked away in a comfortable van along with a small group (8 total) to experience the beauty and 'fruits' of the Duoro Valley. Sara is so lovely, extremely knowledgable about the region, and she had many connections with the locals and winery folks which made us feel so welcome at each stop. The ride to and from the Valley is about an hour and a half each way- we got to tour/taste/explore at 2 different wineries, took the boat tour (which was simply a ride up and down the river with no commentary- the driver did not join us on the river cruise), and had a lovely Portuguese lunch halfway through the day at an old 'schoolhouse-turned-restaurant' with traditional starters, main dishes, desserts, and more local wine. The two wineries we visited offered very different perspectives of the wine and port making business that exists in the Duoro Valley and the families were very generous with their time and knowledge. We tasted a LOT of different wines and ports and even olive oil from these 2 unique wineries. The Duoro Valley is beautiful and worth seeing!!! We were so lucky to get Sara as our driver for the day, we got to make some new friends on the ride, and feel like this day-trip-tour definitely enhanced our experience of Portugal.

Wonderful tour of beautiful city!

Victor was an excellent guide, balancing interesting information about all that we passed with time for us to go and explore a bit on our own at each stop. We felt very safe in the vehicle and the communication beforehand was excellent so we knew when and where to meet, due to an unexpected delay. Victor was kind and very knowledgeable about the city and you could tell he truly cares for sharing the stories and history of the area.

Santiago was a dream!

Please book this tour! We spent the late morning and afternoon in Santiago and were back by the early evening. We had time to attend mass, eat, shop, and see the museum. Had we not gotten misled, we would’ve had time to see the crypt. Orlando was the special ingredient that made our tour extra special. His restaurant recommendations were fantastic. He taught us a lot about Galicia and played great music on our ride. He is also a phenomenal driver. Please book this tour. You won’t regret it.

Very informative and educational tour with Filipe. Tour seemed shorter than advertised. Perhaps more walking city tour would fill more time. Filipe always explained everything very well and answered all questions. Lunch was great, but in an area that is overpriced for sure. Commentary on boat cruise was not good. More historical information would be nice. We enjoyed Filipe very much.
