Felipe, our guide, was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided detailed information throughout the tour. Everything was well organized and on time, and we had plenty of time to explore Fátima at a comfortable pace. We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this tour.

This was our 4th Living Tours tour while we were in Porto. I was really looking forward to this trip but ended up being very disappointed, specifically with our tour guide. I think if you have a good guide your experience would be much better. Our first stop was Coimbra, the university city. It would have been nice to hear about the city, the history, the university but instead or tour guide talked about his experience while at this university as a law student…how horrible it was, how much he drank, etc. We did get about 45 minutes to explore the town on our own. Our second stop was Fatima. Our tour guide clearly didn’t believe in what took place at Fatima and with the apparitions. I have no problem with people not believing, but if you are a tour guide for this particular type of trip I would think you would want someone who doesn’t discount someone’s belief in this. We toured the house and property of Lucia and then were dropped off at Fatima to explore for 2 1/2 hours. Note that there is no food included with this tour however you have time to stop in Coimbra and enough time for lunch at Fatima. Or tour guide talked nonstop but really provided no valuable or historical information about the sites.

Our guide was very knowledgable and shared information in a clear and effective manner. He took time to explain things and answer questions regarding what we were seeing and/or anything else. He was personable, sensitive, very engaging and had a great sense of humor. His English was totally fluent and easy to understand. We particularlly liked the video he showed in the bus featuring cork and paper production. The buffet lunch was lovely. We highly recommend this tour to English speakers.

Full Day Tour to Fatima and Coimbra

Helder Paiva was an excellent tour guide. He explained a lot about the history of Portugal on the way to Fatima and on the way home. He was clearly knowledgeable. He personalized the walking tour of the site of the apparitions and gave us plenty of free time to explore the shrine and the surrounding areas. The trip to Coimbra was a bit short, but he did a great job explaining what the city was all about as well as its unique history. Helder even spent time with my wife and I after the tour ended answering our questions and giving us even more history Excellent tour for the money!! We went on May 29th and there were five other people on the tour.

We arrived expecting a big bus full of people but there ended up just 7 of us on this tour. Our driver was great - knowledgeable of Fatima and the history. And he was a rock star leading us around Coimbra. It is a really hilly city and he drove us to the university, let us walk down at our pace - then he ran up and got the van! It was a rainy, windy day but a great way to see both these places in Pprtugal.

Perfect way to see Fatima

We had a great time! Margaridia was knowledgeable and kind. Her English and Spanish tour was perfect. We loved our stops in Coimbra, the shepherd town, and at Fatima. There was just enough time to see everything since we had a quick lunch in Coimbra and not the lunch provided by the tour.
