The best part of Porto! The tour and guides were amazing (special shoutout to Lara!). She was great at sharing the history of the wine and the city—I definitely info-dumped on a lot of people afterward with everything I learned. Some of our group even joined the pub walking tour with the same company right after, and I’d highly recommend that too! Can’t get better than great wine and an amazing time!

This is a walking tour, but it is not hard. Plenty of wine and there was no pressure to purchase. I recommend bringing some crisps or nuts, or buying some on site. It's truly a lot of wine. I met lovely people in my group and was pleased that there were a few other solo travelers on the tour.

Amazing experience, Francisco was a fantastic tour guide super knowledgeable, funny and friendly. Was nice to have an experience that not only included port and its history but the history of Portugal and the city of Porto, found out so many interesting things and Francisco even gave us all his local recommendations of food / places to go after - really impressed would happily go again :)

This Porto port lodge tour was an absolute highlight of our trip and I’d highly recommend it without hesitation. What made it so special was the great variety — we visited three distinct lodges, from a small boutique producer with a fascinating operation and incredible wine, to a newer up-and-coming spot, to one of the grand old historic caves that really shows you the scale and tradition of port production. There was no shortage of wine to enjoy throughout, and the final stop even treated us to a lovely charcuterie spread to finish things off perfectly. Our guide Alex was absolutely fantastic — knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely made the whole experience come alive. If you’re in Porto, this is a must-do.

This was a great way to visit several port houses and receive the VIP treatment. Because we were on tour everything was set up and ready for us when we walked in!

The walking is not difficult. Porto and Gaia may be hilly but the tour was mostly down near the river. I would recommend having a bite to eat before you start because port is strong. Our guide, Alex was fantastic. High energy, great English, and full of humor. He is very knowledgeable of the port making process.

Our guide, Cyril, was extremely knowledgeable about Porto and Port wine. We learned a lot! It was great share Port and conversation with people from around the world. The tastings were wonderful. Glad we chose this tour!

Our tour guide was exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. Not only did he provide information about Port wine, he also provided information on where to eat from a local’s perspective and things to do in Porto and Gaia. We couldn’t believe he had only been doing this for a little over a year. I would highly recommend.

Alex was an incredible tour guide . The port wine tour was the last thing we did in Porto . He has made us leaving Portugal with a big smile and a lots of knowledge of port wine .

Our tour guide was Alex and he was amazing. So knowledgeable, friendly and fun. The port was lively - pace yourselves as generous measures!

Fun experience. Not sure I would recommend if you have toured any of the port houses in your own or if you have done the Douro Valley trip as it is repetitive

It’s a lot of walking, but you get to rest while in the cellars, tasting the wine. Check the weather first ro dress appropriately. Wear good walking shoes.
Karen_G, Jun 2026
It was really really wonderful. Our guide, Cyril, was amazing. He knew so much about port wines, how they are made, what flavors we were tasting, how they aged, tons of history etc. He was able to answer all our questions. He had us all give our names and where we are from before we started. That made it nice when we sat to drink our port. We were able to chat with other members of the tour. He made the tour very informative and fun, too. We were lucky he was our guide.

This is a great activity to spend your afternoon though I've been told to skip it if you have a day trip to Duoro planned, which I did not. I don't even really like wine but this was fun and informative. Alex our guide was fun who got more fun as the wine flowed (for everyone else) and time went on. I'm always the type to ask questions on a tour, and he welcomed them from me and others easily. I think this kind of excursion is dependent on who is in your group, which you can't control, but I suggest going!

Very informative, however far too long. Nearly 2 hours from arriving before first tasting. Port tasting great. Could be done in 2.5 hrs.
Ronald_H, May 2026
Alex was the most amazing host/guide. Knowledgeable and humorous and with the most amazing ability to remember everyone’s name in our group of 18. He also had a ready made list of all things Porto which he texted to each of us. Oh, and the ports were very good, also.
Susan_P, May 2026
Easy to find the guide. Nice to cross over into Gaia for a different perspective/view. Nice info about port. Good tastings environments.
Julia_E, May 2026
Very complete information and visit to three establishments for seven glasses of port wine. Well organized and good use of time with socializing while tasting the wines.

It was an amazing walking tour for the tasting of port wine. Alex was funny, informative, friendly, and made the learning a breeze. He gave us great recommendations to enjoy our visit for the rest of our Trip in Porto. He remembered all our names and made it easy for all of us to mingle and get to know each other. The group was well
Match in ages and a good mix of different countries!!! I loved it!!’ 😊😎👍🍷

The trip was excellent, interesting and fun. Our guide, Alex, was absolutely amazing, I cannot say enough good things about him! The trip was a good balance between walking, listening and of course trying the different port wines. Alex made everyone feel relaxed which helped the different members of the group from different parts of the world engage and chat. I can’t recommend the trip and especially Alex the tour guide highly enough.
Ann_A, May 2026
This was an outstanding port tasting! Alex is super enthusiastic about all things Porto and port wine, and we had such a fun time with him. We recommend to anyone looking for an intro to port and Gaia. He even found everyone dinner recommendations at the end of the tour!
Lina_M, May 2026
Cyril, our tour guide, did an excellent job of providing essential information concerning the region, its history and the different types of wine. The establishments along the river were excellent in terms of the wine providing for tasting and the visuals that explained port wine.
Gail_B, May 2026
Make sure you eat before you go. All Ports were lovely, guide Alex was great, very knowledgeable with good humour.
CarlosAndres_B, May 2026
Tour guide was súper friendly. He provided a lot of helpful information on the history of the wine and the production of the different types of wine in Portugal. He also shared tips on things to do while in Porto. I definetly suggest this tour. I would do it again!

Cannot visit Porto and not do this tour! Informative and amazing ports in 3 different stops. Alex is the absolute BEST! The details of port wines, coupled with humor and knowledge makes this tour a cannot miss!
Joanne_F, May 2026
Amazing port tour with Alex! We were 7 ladies on a girls trip and we had such a good time learning all about the history of port while enjoying many a port along the way. Alex was hilarious and we all felt very relaxed in our group. At the end of the tour Alex gave us lots of recommendations for the rest of our trip which was very much appreciated. Couldn’t recommend more! 🌟

We really enjoyed our visit to three different port houses. Our guide Cyril provided lots of information about the production and varieties of port. All of the tastings were excellent. We were lucky to be part of a delightful small group of four couples that made the experience even better.
Mark_W, May 2026
Good introduction to Port wines by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide (Alex ?spelling?). The tour was most enjoyable. Would definitely recommend.
Amirah_I, May 2026
Excellent tour of the port lodges, visiting the famous Kopke-owned Calem port lodge to the smaller port lodges. There isn’t too much walking involved at all (the longest walk was from the meeting point to the Calem port lodge across the bridge which took no longer than 10 minutes). At the second port lodge, we were able to visit the rooftop bar which had fantastic views of the city. Our guide was extremely informative and we left having a good understanding of port and its origins. Our only suggestion would be to take a large water bottle with you!
