Chris, our tour guide, was incredible. Made even the ride TO the mountain fun and informative. Loaded with all kinds of history and information about the island, the volcanos, and the wildlife of the area. He went above and beyond with providing dinner, drinks, and even hot chocolate afterwards during the stargazing portion. The peace of mind as well of having someone who had driven that road hundreds of times before, as well as the comfort of the whole group being able to relax while someone else drove made the experience incredible. Would highly recommend booking the tour, especially for your first time to the top.

This is the stress free way to see Pearl Harbor! They pick you up from the hotel, drop you off with a cold drink and your tickets, which were perfectly timed to see the film and catch the boat out. Then they pick you up and show you around. Went by the punch bowl and palace on the trip back. Thanks!

A Definite Must-Do

Definitely a great idea to take the road to Hana with an experienced tour guide! The switchbacks and the beautiful scenery would have made it difficult for an inexperienced traveler to navigate. Jerry, our driver/guide, was a great! He was knowledgeable and personable - made sure we all got questions answered and needs met. Only hiccup was a delay in our pickup due to an accident on the road and some guests being late to their pickup but that is not the fault of Maholo Tours at all. They were texting me updates as to their ETA and even the driver called to apologize and give me his arrival time. Great trip! I highly recommend!

Please do not miss this trip. But it’s not for the sunset. It’s for the knowledge.

Amazing. Our guide was spectacular. The sunset of course didn’t disappoint, but the wow was our guide’s knowledge of the importance of Mauna Kea in Polynesian culture, his knowledge of the stars and the sky, and his knowledge of how the two meet. Simply amazing.

We had a wonderful time on this tour! Justin, our guide, is a friendly local who shared with us so much historical and geographical information as we toured the island. The food was great and the places we visited were better! It felt like we were visiting a friend on the island as opposed to purchasing a sight-seeing tour….highly recommend!

The North Shore tour was awesome, definitely a must do. Sam our tour guide has a great sense of humour and was very interactive with the group. He was very informative throughout the whole day providing lots of interesting historic and current facts. Always keeping us amused. I like that this tour is like a choose your own adventure, as you get to select which activities you wish to do. You can choose to have a real active day or do one activity and then relax and walk around the town of Hale’iwa. You get nearly 5 hours free time to explore rather than feeling like you’re sitting on a bus all day. We had a great experience and would book a tour with the The Surf Bus again.

The Road to Hana is amazing, and having Levi as our guide allowed us to relax and enjoy the beauty without the stress of navigating the challenging road and dealing with local drivers.

If nothing else, take this wonderful tour to be enriched, humored and enchanted by tour guide Anthony. He is an exceptional host who is quite skilled and approachable. While taking in the majestic sites on the road to Hana, Anthony passionately explained the fundamentals of Hawaiian history, culture and language. He was caring and upbeat, and gladly responded to individual needs! Also noteworthy, Anthony was an extremely safe driver on this very challenging and curvy road. In sum, Anthony truly represents the spirit of Aloha!!

Book the flight!

The best experience, almost had to cancel because of the weather early AM but the team was accommodating and told me that I could wait and do a flight later in the day. Worth every penny, sights you can only see by helicopter. Our pilot was amazing, very knowledgeable about the island. Smooth ride besides alittle bumps here and there from the wind (to be expected). Got proposed to after the helicopter and an unforgettable experience. If you're thinking about booking, do it!
