Definitely a great idea to take the road to Hana with an experienced tour guide! The switchbacks and the beautiful scenery would have made it difficult for an inexperienced traveler to navigate. Jerry, our driver/guide, was a great! He was knowledgeable and personable - made sure we all got questions answered and needs met. Only hiccup was a delay in our pickup due to an accident on the road and some guests being late to their pickup but that is not the fault of Maholo Tours at all. They were texting me updates as to their ETA and even the driver called to apologize and give me his arrival time. Great trip! I highly recommend!

My husband and I were on NCL Pride of America from June 13-20, 2026 but I booked most of our excursions off the ship. I did so much research, read all the reviews, and knew we wanted to do a small group tour rather than one of the run of the mill big tour companies. I liked the itinerary listed, the reasonable price and saw this tour included lunch so I booked this trip. OMG, we had such an amazing time. Mike’s tour business, Lehua Tours is newer. Big Mike is the owner and your tour guide. He is outgoing, positive and friendly. He absolutely loves what he does and it shows. So many thoughtful “extras” that you won’t get on other tours. Mike took us out to lunch at an amazing lunch spot off the beaten path. This is included in your tour price and you can choose anything off the menu. I am a picky eater and I had an amazing panini that was made to order, delicious! Mike is from Hawaii and shares so much history and fun stories. He has a great, comfortable van, a screen to show visuals to accompany his commentary. I loved his music playlist with classic and modern Hawaiian vibe music. I told Mike, he needs to get his playlist on Spotify! My husband and I had excursions every day of our cruise and this was our favorite! The North Shore tour was awesome, definitely a must do. Sam our tour guide has a great sense of humour and was very interactive with the group. He was very informative throughout the whole day providing lots of interesting historic and current facts. Always keeping us amused. I like that this tour is like a choose your own adventure, as you get to select which activities you wish to do. You can choose to have a real active day or do one activity and then relax and walk around the town of Hale’iwa. You get nearly 5 hours free time to explore rather than feeling like you’re sitting on a bus all day. We had a great experience and would book a tour with the The Surf Bus again.

Levi made our Road to Hana tour fantastic. My husband, three sons (16, 15, 14), and I loved the day, hitting all major stops and starting with a hike on the Pi'ilani trail. The Road to Hana is amazing, and having Levi as our guide allowed us to relax and enjoy the beauty without the stress of navigating the challenging road and dealing with local drivers.

We loved this experience so much! Even our teenagers loved listening to the Hawaiin stories. It helped us a lot. We also loved that it connected to our GPS and told us exactly what was coming up and where to turn. So much great information! Thank you.

Excellent tour with Wayne. Sunrise was spectacular and Wayne is very informative with Maui. We learned a lot and would recommend the tour Breakfast was excellent too. Wear or bring warm clothes as it is early in the morning and your elevation is 9000+

The best experience, almost had to cancel because of the weather early AM but the team was accommodating and told me that I could wait and do a flight later in the day. Worth every penny, sights you can only see by helicopter. Our pilot was amazing, very knowledgeable about the island. Smooth ride besides alittle bumps here and there from the wind (to be expected). Got proposed to after the helicopter and an unforgettable experience. If you're thinking about booking, do it!

Corey was such an amazing tour guide, between his constant jokes and attentiveness to making sure our group never broke apart- he truly made this experience worthwhile especially as a solo traveler. He explains so much of Mauis history on the scenic drives and even stopped so we can star gaze, something I’ll never forget. If you book, ask to be with Corey! He’s such a light, and took great care of all of us, took great pictures of all of individually too!
