Great Experience
The tour was awesome. The guide gave a great tour which not only included dolphins, but also history of naval and shipping vessels of the coast. He was funny, joking, and family friendly. Everyone got to see dolphins as he know their routines based on the tides and season. Overall very fun experience for the price.

Wonderful tour guide and very informative tour!
Ryan was an awesome tour guide! He was very knowledgeable and personable. My sister and I greatly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it. We had so much fun with the group of people on our tour! Be aware that there is a great deal of walking involved so beware of footwear you choose for the tour...

Dr. Sorrell is a crown jewel!!
This is my first trip back to Galveston in over forty years, so I had to make sure to locate a fully immersed tour experience. This absolutely didn’t disappoint❤️
If you’re looking for a tour that doesn’t just show you Galveston—but moves you—the Juneteenth and Beyond Black History Van Tour absolutely delivers.
From the moment you step into the air-conditioned van, you can feel this isn’t going to be a typical sightseeing experience. It’s immersive, personal, and deeply meaningful. The tour is led by passionate, highly knowledgeable guides who don’t just recite facts—they bring history to life with storytelling that’s vivid, emotional, and unforgettable.
What makes this tour exceptional is how it connects you to the real story of Juneteenth—right where it happened. As you travel through Galveston, you visit powerful landmarks like Reedy Chapel, the Juneteenth marker, and historic cultural sites along the Strand, each one layered with stories of resilience, struggle, and triumph. And instead of feeling like distant history, it feels immediate—like you’re standing in the very moments that changed lives forever.
The small-group setting makes a huge difference. It creates an intimate, almost conversational atmosphere where questions are encouraged, and every guest feels included. Many visitors say it feels less like a tour and more like a shared journey through time—one that leaves you reflecting long after it’s over.
And then there’s the impact. This isn’t just informative—it’s eye-opening. Guests consistently describe the experience as powerful and enlightening, often saying they learned stories and perspectives they were never taught before. One reviewer captured it perfectly: it’s like “stepping out of the darkness of ignorance into the light of knowledge.”
By the end, you don’t just leave with facts—you leave with a deeper appreciation of Galveston’s role in American history and a renewed respect for the legacy of Juneteenth itself.
Bottom line: Dr. Araminta provides an unforgettable experience!! This tour is a must-do. It’s thoughtful, moving, and incredibly well-executed—a five-star experience that educates your mind and stays with your heart.
Protect Dr. Amarinta at all costs ✊🏾✊🏾❤️❤️

As a single person, I was...
As a single person, I was unable to sign-up/pay for a single person, so I paid for myself and a child (that was never coming). I thought it was a bit discriminating to single people. Aside from that, my tour guide was great. She was friendly and very knowledgable in the history of the area.

Just do it, so much fun!
We were 2 beginners, after a short time practicing in the alley, we were totally comfortable. Larry was our guide. He was very friendly, personable and knowledgeable. We toured around safely learning about the history of Galveston. He gave us recommendations for some free musuems, shopping and restaurants.

We thoroughly enjoyed...
We thoroughly enjoyed both the Aquarium and the rainforest! The Penguins were our favorite! We also ate at the garden restaurant, which was fantastic! We also did the 4D experience simulating being in a submarine and the music museum. Both of those were good also. We spent over five hours total. I would highly recommend spending a day here!

Suns out, dolphins out, boats out.
always fun with Captain Andy. I’ve been on a few of his tours and he always makes it fun and different every time. The sunset cruise is the best because it’s the longest and he doesn’t talk as much, lol… Even Captain Andy will tell you that himself. They played good music and the people on board were really nice. I brought my Service dog with me and he got a little afraid at first. Other passengers on the boat calmed him down. It was really sweet to watch. A bunch of strangers from all over literally in the world on a boat in the middle of the harbor just talking to each other as though they’ve known each other forever. I suppose that’s the power of the water. I’m a long time Galveston goer and I will one day probably live here. The closest I’ve ever lived so far has been Sugarland, but I’m angling for a beach house.

Great way to tour Galveston
The entire process was extremely easy and stress free. The owner was friendly and very knowledgable on the history of Galveston. This was the perfect way for our group of seniors to see the historical sites of the beautiful city of Galveston. Will definately do this again next time we're in Texas.

Tour is hot! But interesting!
The tour started at the library, which was very nice inside. (And cool) This tour has a couple miles of walking and Galveston can be HOT. Bring water, hats, fans…All of it. We learned some good information about some of the fancier houses and also some lesser-known ones. Jay was very knowledgeable and he has a nice voice.

Fantastic, clean, beautiful mansion.
The employees are very nice! I didnt realize that the tour was an app you listen to on your phone. All around beautiful place. Also, only 2 levels of the building are for tourists. 1st and second floor. The other floor above is for storage and employees area. All around enjoyable place to visit.

A blast!
Dave was our tour guide and he did an amazing job keeping all of us entertained. We had a really large group, much larger than the normal, about 35 people. Still, we were all well informed on the historical aspects of Galveston plus the spooky details (and photographic proof!) of the haunted places we visited. Highly recommend. We went at 8pm which was a great time for the sun to set as we embarked on our tour.

Though some people assume Texas' favorite vacay hot spot is all about the beaches and fun in the sun, these Galveston tours can help you unlock some of the city's historical intrigue, which was once a bustling immigration port considered the “Ellis Island of the South.” Take a spooky tour to learn of the ghosts that are rumored to haunt the island, a century after the US' most deadly natural disaster, or learn about the history of Juneteenth, which all started right here in Galveston.
