Craft beer is what Fort Collins is best known for; it’s often hailed as the Craft Beer Capital of Colorado. There are ample breweries, like the New Belgium Brewing Company and Odell Brewing. It also has a great live music scene.

From outdoor activities and brewery tours to music festivals, there are loads of things to do in Fort Collins. Hike around Horsetooth Reservoir, cycle along the Cache la Poudre River, or spend the day exploring the Old Town, where you can shop, eat, and listen to live music in Old Town Square. This college town has a lively nightlife, a rich music scene, and a year-round program of events and festivals. It also has more craft breweries than most US states, so add a bit of bar hopping to your itinerary.
You can find activities and events in Fort Collins year-round, but you can enjoy milder temperatures from March through October. If you’re a hiker or biker or want to hit the summer festival season, travel during these months. Peak season is more costly, though. In winter (December through February), keep warm in the city’s multiple breweries; a beer will feel especially well-earned after some cross-country skiing.
One of the best and most sustainable ways to get around Fort Collins is by bicycle. The biker-friendly city has miles of wide bike lanes, plenty of bicycle parking, and a bike share program, with plenty of shops offering bike hire services. Other transport options include the Max Bus Rapid Transit, the Ztrip taxi service, and several rideshare options.
If you’ve never dipped your pizza crust in honey, then you’re missing out. Luckily, Fort Collins is just the place to try this culinary phenomenon. Head over to Beau Jo’s Pizza after you’ve hiked up the 2-mile (3.2-kilometer) Foothills Trail in the Maxwell Natural Area, which has an awesome view. Treat yourself to a well-earned Colorado Mountain Pie and a Fat Tire draft beer.
