We chose to do this the day after we landed as it was a long travel day. That was the right move. This was fun, relaxing and a unique experience for my 8 year-old daughter. The views were beautiful, staff very friendly and the different pools were fun. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are 3 slides that are insane! Purchasing tickets online was a way better choice. There was a long line when we arrived and we were able to go right to the front, check-in and then head into the hot springs. We added the dinner option to our visit. Lunch buffet runs from 12-3, dinner runs from 5-8/9 (can’t remember). There is a restaurant toward the entrance if you need a snack and there are swim up bars located through the hot springs for drinks or smoothies.

Yes. Yes. And again, yes....
Yes. Yes. And again, yes. Alberto was a gem of a tour guide. His passion for chocolate and coffee were un-matched. He’s a true book of knowledge and we couldn’t be happier about this tour. An absolute must if you’re visiting La Fortuna. The history, the explanations, the way of life. Amazing!

Tips for Tourists
This tour was fantastic and I highly recommend doing the nature sights with a guide because you’ll see animals you’d otherwise miss. We traveled with 2 children (9, 12). Things I think would be helpful for future travelers — find a Arenal hike + Hanging bridges tour and do the waterfall by yourself. Due to time, we felt rushed at the waterfall and would have just loved more time to sit and relax. You don’t need a tour for the waterfall. Know that it is 500+ stairs down and then back up. The rocks are slippery. You can do this in flip flops, crocs, sneakers, water shoes, barefoot … there are clean bathrooms, a bar, souvenir shop, and light food at the top. The volcano tour — I highly recommend going with a guide. Otherwise it’s just a hike. Also, if you’re a hiker, this is a nature walk with some rocky inclines. If you don’t hike, this is a hike. My husband did it in crocs. My kids and I did it in water shoes with tread. You don’t need hiking shoes unless you’re unsteady on your feet. The bridges was a cool experience if you’ve never done something like it before. If you don’t go with a guide, it’s just a nature walk (with paved inclines) and you’ll miss lots of animals. Despite the recommendations, my husband did this in crocs, but had to sign a waiver. You can pack backpacks and bags and leave things in the air-conditioned tour van throughout the day. This made outfit changes easier and was nice to not have to carry everything all the time. For lunch- I highly recommend the traditional casada (with chicken, pork, or fish) or they also offered quesadillas and chicken fingers with fries. We truly enjoyed our full-day experience and this particular group was great to be with all day. 10/10, highly recommend.

A fun time! The zip...
A fun time! The zip lines were really cut through the rainforest -- and many of them were quite long runs. It was just my wife and I, but we were with other groups with young families (ages around 8 - 12). They all seemed to be having a blast. It was a very professionally run tour. It felt safe all the time. Our group was in the 15 - 18 people range, and there were at least 5 people from the zip line company out on the course with us. There seemed to be many different zip line tours in the area -- very happy we chose this one!
