If you’re staying within 15 minutes of La Fortuna, you can request a pickup in advance of the tour. Otherwise, head directly to the farm—the meeting point will show on your booking voucher.
With your group all together, you’ll meet your guide and set off on a tour of the farm to learn about Costa Rica’s famous exports, namely coffee, chocolate, and sugar.
You’ll learn about production methods at the family-run plantation, and discover the journey that coffee beans make in order to end up in a cup of your favorite brew. Highlights of the tour include the chance to prepare and taste chocolate, and even sample sugar cane, too.
After roughly 2.5 hours, your tour ends at the farm.

Stephan led our tour. It was quite long but so interesting. Lots of tasting and looking at different things like coco bean fruit…tasting and touching. The best FRESH roasted coffee I have ever had! Yummy chocolate! Best way to spend the afternoon after the drive up. Stephan was awesome!!!

This was such a fun and educational experience! Our tour guide was fantastic and explaining how chocolate, coffee and sugarcane juice is made. We thoroughly enjoyed the tastings of each and really enjoyed looking around the farm, it was beautiful. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a unique experience in law Fortuna.

We had such an amazing experience on the coffee and chocolate tour, and Valerie made it unforgettable! She was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable, and so much fun to spend the afternoon with. She made the entire 2½-hour tour fly by while taking us through the fascinating journey of how coffee and chocolate are grown, processed, and made.
She answered every question we had, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, and you could tell how passionate she is about what she does. The samples were delicious, and she even continued to help us after the tour ended by giving us recommendations and answering additional questions.
If you have the chance to take this tour, I highly recommend asking for Valerie. She truly made the experience so enjoyable, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip!

Our tour guide, Esteban, gave us such an incredible experience! He was very knowledgeable, and you could tell how passionate he is about Costa Rica’s coffee, chocolate, and culture. He made every stop engaging, answered all of our questions, and shared so many interesting facts that made the tour even more memorable. His enthusiasm was contagious and made us appreciate the entire process. If you get the chance to tour with Esteban, you’re in for a fantastic experience. Highly recommend!

Very detail oriented, lots of details about coffee and chocolate including techniques and other things as well as hands on experiences like grinding the beans on top of the tastings, they also preformed hand arounds of related objects. On this tour I learned a lot about coffee and cacao as well as the industry and more general knowledge, our tour guide was Danny and was excellent at explaining and answering questions as well as letting us see everything clearly.

This tour was outstanding! I went with my husband and 2 teen daughters. It was informative and highly interactive. We were able to try coffee, chocolate and sugar can in serval forms it takes along the process. I highly recommend!

The guide, Esteban, was knowledgeable and engaging. There was no hiking, just a gentle walk through their gardens with different stations where we sat and learned about both Cocoa and coffee growing and making processes. I got to taste raw and roasted coffee beans and medium and deep roast coffee. As a coffee lover it was very interesting learning about and tasting the different forms of coffee.

This experience was wonderful. Our 3 year old didn’t want to sit for aome of the informational segments, but there were plenty of beautiful and interesting places to walk around with him. The guy did a great job of including him and kids of all ages into the tour. We absolutely loved it and would do it again if we come back.

Wonderful time tasting coffee and chocolate ate different stages. I was impressed by the amount of information, the beauty of the farm, and the history and realities of coco and coffee farming. Kids enjoyed the chocolate making and trying 100% (so bitter) to the chocolate we are used to tasting. Our tour guide was David and he did a great presentation and demonstration for us. I didn’t get the names of the people who were helping but the ladies who made the melted chocolate, the “chocolate tea”, and roasted our coffee beans were so kind and caring. We did this tour after a few days of adrenaline pumping excursions that wiped us out. Kids and adults enjoyed crushing sugar cane and sampling the juice along with Cacike (Sugar can alcohol). This was a great end to our trip as it was relaxing and fun and of course tasty. In addition it was both worth the cost and even provided transportation from our hotel nearby. Highly recommend.
