I am giving this 5 stars even with the fact that it was a very cloudy day and we could not see the volcano at all. If your only goal is to see the volcano then you should know that its not easy to guarantee. Even without seeing it, I had an amazing time. The hike itself is very doable for fit people. If you think you are not as fit as youd like to be, there is an easier trail option so everyones included. Both groups meet at the same meeting point. My group was nearly insufferable for reasons that dont really matter, I just recommend paying attention to the guide when they are talking lol. But besides that, it is still a very fun hike and they also take you to el choyin hot springs. It is the public one for free so its very crowded but still nice that its included in the tour.

We had a lovely hike and learned a lot about the nature even though visibility was limited and we didnt see any bigger animals due to the rain. Hats off for our guides Daniel and Gonzalo for being so knowledgeable. The dip to the hot spring river afterwards was a really nice ending. Overall enjoyable, not too rushed and also not very challenging if you have hiked before.

We chose to do the mountain hike and hot Springs tour. It lasted from 10am to 4pm. We would have preferred to be picked up by the company, but our hotel was outside of their zone so we had to meet up at their downtown location. It is important to keep in mind that their business location is different from the pick up spot so make sure you know exactly where you are going if you are not being picked up!
This tour was basically a continuation of a morning waterfall tour that started at 8 AM. The whole tour group was probably 30 people but they broke us up into 2 groups for purposes of the hike. We went with Mauricio who was an extremely engaging and knowledgeable guide in his mid 50s. He taught us about the trees, leaves, insects, birds, and everything else that we saw along the way. He was a fabulous leader and teacher.
The hike, to be clear, is going to be quite difficult for people who do not typically hike. For regular, consistent hikers, or people who regularly do cardio,, this will likely be an easy climb, but it is quite steep at places, and the climb left us breathless at certain spots. Bring plenty of water because you will want to rehydrate on the few stops the guides make. Our group consisted of healthy adults, some college kids, and some teenagers so we were able to hike at a very fast pace, but if you are in a group with older people or people who are less physically fit, the hike will definitely take longer so be prepared. Having said all that, the view of volcano is beyond belief. We had a completely clear and unobstructed view - it was pretty magical. The walk back down and the tico lunch were very nice and the hot springs dip was also pleasurable after the long hike.
We didn’t have any rain during our hike so we lucked out, but if it was raining, I can see the walk being even more hard and unpleasant. Overall, it was a great excursion, good exercise and we were more than tired by the time it was over!

Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review!
We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the Mountain Hike and Hot Springs tour, and especially that Mauricio helped make the experience memorable — he truly has a gift for connecting with nature and our guests!
We appreciate your feedback about the pick-up logistics. You're absolutely right — our downtown meeting point is different from the main office, and we’ll be sure to emphasize that even more clearly in our instructions moving forward.
Also, thank you for highlighting the hike difficulty. It’s a great adventure but definitely requires some stamina, and your tips about water and preparation will surely help future travelers.
We’re thrilled the volcano gave you that magical, clear view — that’s not always guaranteed, so what a treat! And ending with a warm tico lunch and hot springs is the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring.
Thanks again for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!

Overall, tour guides were amazing, provided lunch was delicious. We spotted some animals in the rainforest which was nice. Unfortunately the day we went, the volcano was hiding which is normal as the area experience cloudy weather often. A little expensive in my opinion.

Thank you for your kind words about the guides and the lunch—we’re so glad you enjoyed them! We're sorry to hear the weather didn’t cooperate that day; unusually heavy rains for the season made it a bit challenging to see the volcano. We appreciate your understanding, as nature is unpredictable, and we’ll continue doing our best to provide an exceptional experience regardless of the weather

The Morning Volcano Hike with the Lunch and Hot spring was a great time and an experience that was memorable and informative. Our tour guide, Agustin was very honest from the beginning that he would try to help us see animals on our hike up to the base of the Volcano but did not promise anything. Therefore, it was so fun and joyful when we spotted multiple monkeys, two toucans, lizards, and even a sloth. The hike up to the base of the Volcano was moderate. We took multiple breaks throughout the trail especially when looking for/at the animals. It was nice to have a trained eye to point these things out to us. In addition, as a family of Vegetarians the lunch that was provided was not only filling after the hike but also tasty. The hot spring at the end of the day was a great way to cool off after the hike. This experience was definitely worth it for my family and I and we would recommend it to other travelers as well.

Do not believe everything written in the description of the tour. This is a trekking around ten trees and five stones. Lunch - just fiction, bathing in a warm river - under the car bridge. I regret the wasted time spent
ISRAEL_R, Mar 2026
Very good, the guide attentive, the excellent lunch!
The pure hike is quite heavy, take it into account if you plan to do another tour afterwards!
