Itinerary

Head to Taiko Lab Aoyama, the studio where you’ll take your lesson, arriving for your selected choice of either a morning or afternoon session. You’ll get a quick history lesson on the origins of this traditional drumming practice, an art form that developed alongside other traditional practices like Kyo-gen, Kabuki, Noh, Nagauta, and Wadaiko.

Start your lesson with the help of a friendly instructor, learning the basic movements and techniques of taiko performance. Whether you’re a musical expert or a complete novice, rest assured that the class will be adjusted to suit your skill levels.

Finish off your class by performing a simple song with your fellow classmates. It’s a great way to show off your new skills in a fun, low-pressure environment. You’ll even have the chance to pose for photos in a ‘Happi,’ a traditional Japanese coat.
