Gray was the most knowledgable guide I’ve met in Japan, and I have been to a lot of tours. She knows the history, current events, and furure waves in Japan. Her local food recos are also the best!

Polina did an absolute phenomenal job guiding my friends and me through Shinjuku on the 'Dark Side of Tokyo' tour! I highly recommend booking this for your first night in the city. We learned so much fascinating history and insider info about the area. My only regret is that we didn't have more time to explore and eat at all of the restaurant recommendations. A must-do 5-star experience!
We loved this tour!! Our tour guide Huy was so funny and really knew all the little secrets of the dark side of Shinjuku. We saw spots I would have just walked by. Touring the city at night was incredible because it gets chaotic and there are so many groups of people to see and watch. We even stayed a little longer for Izakayas on Memory Street and had some great food. Would not recommend for young kids as there are secrets of the city they are not ready to hear about haha.

Loc’s walking tour through Shinjuku’s Kabukicho was one of the most fascinating and eye-opening experiences we had in Tokyo. Instead of the typical tourist perspective, he took us deep into the “darker side” of the district, unpacking the history, culture, and realities behind an area that’s often misunderstood.
What made the tour stand out was Loc’s ability to explain complex and sensitive topics in a balanced, non-sensational way. He didn’t just focus on shock value, he provided real context around nightlife, host clubs, organized crime, and the social dynamics that shape Kabukicho today. It felt informative rather than voyeuristic, which we really appreciated.
Loc was also incredibly engaging and approachable, encouraging questions and sharing stories that made the area feel more human and nuanced than we expected. Walking through Kabukicho with him gave us a completely different perspective than we would have gotten exploring on our own.
If you’re curious about a side of Tokyo that most visitors only scratch the surface of, this tour with Loc is absolutely worth it.
Paulina was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts as well as answered all of our questions. This tour is great if you want to learn about a side of Japan not many people talk about. We were not only shown great places to eat and drink, but we were also briefly taught how to notice and avoid tourist scams which helped us during our trip. When the tour ended, Paulina left us with restaurant recommendations and made sure we left problem free to our next destination. I 100% recommend this experience and would recommend that you plan this in the beginning of your Tokyo trip to help acclimate to the night life atmosphere.
Paulina was a great, experienced guide with some great humor. She took us to all of the little spots in the area that would’ve been difficult to see efficiently on our own. Recommend!

Our tour guide was a young woman from the Ukraine, who had lived in Tokyo for eight years. Her knowledge of Tokyo was tremendous. She was also very friendly. I give her top marks
Polina was a very knowledgeable tour guide that took us to places we may never have seen or known. She explained the ‘dark side’ and no question was silly, answering them all. My adult son and I had seen some of this areas by day but had no idea of what we had walked past. Very enjoyable and just the right length.

Such a fun and different kind of tour. Seeing the “seedy” side of Tokyo was fascinating and enlightening. The guide Danny offered both facts and information, as well as thought-provoking and always hilarious colour commentary, on the various gambling, prostitution and drinking venues we explored. Even more, it was Danny’s overall positive and encouraging descriptions of Tokyo’s “problem areas” that reassured me of the safety of Japan as a senior solo traveller. Highly recommend this tour and the tour guide Danny!
