I am so grateful to MOMO who guided me through the incredible Nippori Fabric Town. She’s a very kind, knowledgeable and well organized woman. Within a few hours, I was able to take full advantage of this amazing area of Tokyo. I bought:
🧵 2 luxurious Liberty Fabrics
🧵 2 heavier cotton/linen fabrics for jackets
🧵 3 soft linens for pants
🧵 3 cottons for shirts
🧵 smaller quantities to use on my quilted wall hangings
🧵 2 Japanese sewing patterns
Luckily, I heard that many sewists bring empty luggage, which really made everything so much easier. I weighed the “carry-on” suitcase back at the hotel, and it was 24 pounds!
I NEVER could have accomplished all of this without her. She guided me through the stores and brought me to the places she knew I would enjoy, and then communicated with the staff about yardage as well as fabric care. We had some good laughs as well. She’s a very pleasant person, and there were a few times where I just felt paralyzed with a decision, and she gave me great feedback and encouragement.
I have a lot of experience buying fabric, but being in a new country by myself and not speaking the language was an entirely different experience. I think I would have felt shy trying to interact and take care of business. Having MOMO by my side gave me more confidence, and it certainly improved my efficiency.
I don’t know if I’ll ever make it back to Japan, but if I do, I will most certainly sign up for a guided tour again because it was truly a highlight of my trip. This fabric will always remind me of the terrific time I had in Japan and the wonderful day I spent with MOMO.
Thank you!

MOMO-san is amazing and we had a great time on this tour. She knows about all of the stores. She helped me pick fabric and supplies. She also helped with questions, getting fabric cut and purchasing. She is a fellow sewist and has all the knowledge we needed to buy enough fabric to fill one half of one of our suitcases!

Excellent tour with an outstanding guide! Momo-san was a delightful guide; knowledgeable about the history of the area and what goods each store offered. She made a great effort to tailor the tour to my interests and sewing style. I was very impressed with Momo-san’s thoughtful communications with me before the tour even took place! Anyone who sews would be foolish to miss out on opportunity to visit Nippori fabric town with Momo-san. I only wish that the tour had lasted all day!

Momo was very knowledgable in all of the fabrics and the stores which we visited today. She spent the time to get to know me and find out what I was looking for. I bought way too much but the fact is all of the fabric were very beautiful and I can’t wait to sew with them when I return home. Momo was very personable, friendly and even gave me a cultural experience along the way. Thank you so very much Momo I will definitely be referring you to my friends should they visit Japan. I loved the day!

Nippori fabric town was a must see for my wife who loves to sew and is also interested in sashiko. MOMO-san has extensive experience of the Nippori fabric town stores and where to go for the various types of fabric and accessories. We wouldn’t have been able to find all the fabrics and other items at such good prices without MOMO-san’s guidance. This included an extensive selection of Liberty fabrics, denim, linen, sashiko, silk, cotton, lace, braid, thread, scissors and many other items. Needless to say I had to buy another bag to fit it all in for the trip home.
There weee some great specialist shops we never would have found on the outskirts of the fabric town. MOMO-san was very patient and made sure we got to see all the shops that had the fabrics and other items from the list we sent her when we booked the tour.
We highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in fabrics and particularly if this is your first visit to Nippori fabric town.

I highly recommend this tour! Momo-San brought me to many shops and explained some of the history and how things are run today. She also tailored the experience to me, and what I was looking for. She provided me with enough information, so that I could return to the shops on my own, if I want to. I was very happy to have her there to help me with purchases, since my Japanese is VERY limited. Because she also sews, she was able to help me figure out how much fabric I should purchase, since I don’t have any specific projects in mind yet, just some future ideas. It was also fun to see pictures of what she has sewn, and it inspired me for future projects! Again, I highly recommend this tour!

This tour was fabulous and a must for anyone who sews or just wants to appreciate a different part of Tokyo culture. Momo is a wonderful and patient tour guide who explains the history of the fabric district, the character of each store, and helps out with every transaction. (And I made a lot of transactions!). We visited stores specializing in dress fabrics and notions, but there are shops dedicated to leather, home fabrics and anything you could imagine related to sewing. Definitely walking involved as the district is about 1 km long with shops on both sides. It’s an easy train ride from anywhere in Tokyo on the Yamanote line. There are cafes nearby for much needed refreshment after your tour. I’m already wishing for another visit!
