Great family experience

Satoko was an awesome host and a fantastic teacher. This was a great family activity that taught us a lot about the history of these delicious desserts. We also got to explore a cute neighborhood on the way to our class that we wouldn’t have otherwise seen.

It also makes me so glad that you had the chance to explore the neighborhood along the way. It was a pleasure meeting your family, and I would love to welcome you again on your next trip to Japan!

Satoko-san is a kind and patient teacher! It was great to learn from her in her beautiful home and neighborhood! I had a fantastic time learning the history and making so many different kinds of wagashi. Satoko also took many great pictures during the process and helped plate and make it photogenic!

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you so much, Billy-san! I’m truly happy to hear you enjoyed the class — it was such a pleasure to welcome you into my home and share the world of wagashi with you. You did a wonderful job creating each piece, and I’m glad we could capture the process with some great photos too! I hope you’ll continue to enjoy wagashi and maybe even try making some again in the future. Enjoy the rest of your time in Japan — and have fun bouldering too! Hope to see you again sometime! SATOKO
