We had a fantastic afternoon learning how to make mochi with Sakura. Great family experience as my two teenage daughters thoroughly enjoyed it. Sakura not only shows how to make the mochi but also tells you some of the history behind it which was really interesting. She also has great patience when your mochi looks a little lumpy! The fact that you do the class in her lovely home makes it even more quaint and unique. Highly recommend for both young and old!

Great experience. Sakura is an expert in mochi making. She is lovely and generous. You will get more than what you come for. I've learned a lot about Japanese culture. It was really lovely to talk to her and prepare mochi.
Sakura was so patient and welcoming to our family with 3 young kids! We really enjoyed our time making mochi with her. Would highly recommend.
It was a very fun and easy class. The instructor Sakura was very patient and explained everything in detail. My 13yo son is a huge mochi fan. Now he can’t wait to get back home and make some mochi for his friends! Definitely recommend it if you are a mochi fan and have a couple of hours to kill in Tokyo.
I am traveling w my 19 years old to Japan. We both attended this class and enjoyed it a great deal. The class was conducted in a private home. Love the comfortable home warm setting. We love it d much. We are planning to schedule a different class a the same teacher.
Very unique experience! Sakura is a kind and knowledgeable instructor. She welcomed us into her home and had the ingredients laid out on the kitchen table. She started with a short presentation on the different types of mochi in the Japanese culture and the celebrations they are used in. She then gave us step by step instructions on making 4 different types of mochi. We had tea and water throughout then sampled our creations at the end. Sakura gave us recommendations in the area which we followed including visiting the Meguro river walk. It was a vibrant scenery with Cherry blossoms at this time of year. Thank you Sakura for this amazing experience. The kids (11 and 12) asked us after we left your home if we can book another class with you 🤗
Sakura was absolutely wonderful and the mochi class was one of the too experiences of our entire Japan trip. We have done a ton up and down the country and this stood out. We will definitely be coming back for another class our next trip back. 10 out of 10. 🙂
Sakura was very warm, friendly and informative. She provided lots of information about the types of mochi and was patient and helpful throughout the lesson. Highly recommend this activity! Mochi was delicious.
Sakuran-san was amazing. She was so funny and a great teacher. The set up is so calming and nice and the tea was excellent as well. She showed us how we can make mochi at home in the future. She was also taking fun pictures during the class so we can remember how much fun we had.

Delightful time spent with Sakura at her beautiful home. The mochi we made were delicious, and we had a great time learning about Japanese culture as well. My 8 year old daughter loved it, and couldn't wait to make more mochi after we got home.
Sakura's mochi-making class was the perfect way to start our family trip in Japan! It was an intimate class held in her home (located in a lovely neighbourhood with nice streets to explore, just a short walk from transit). We were a group of 7 (6 adults, 1 nine-year old). She had a wonderful presentation about the history and significance of desserts and mochi in Japan, and then she taught us how to make several types of delicious mochi. The whole experience lasted around 2 hours. She was lovely, very knowledgeable and graciously entertained our many, many questions. We did a lot on this trip, but Sakura's class was an absolute highlight! I would highly recommend as an accessible and memorable activity for all ages. Thank you Sakura!
Sakura was an incredibly gracious and pleasant host. She explained the importance of Mochi and we had a good chat given her travelling experience. Her English was good so communicating was easy. The mochi was delicious and she prepared a take away for my leftovers which I ate back at the hotel. Highly recommended.

My son & I had the most authentic, FUN experience learning how to make mochi from an amazing teacher, Sakura-san! We took the class in her lovely home not far from Shibuya. Not only was Sakura-san incredibly kind & patient (we are not the cooks in the family 😊) but she also taught us about the history & cultural significance of what we were making. We are so grateful we had this opportunity and would recommend this experience 100% to anyone wanting a unique, authentic, wholly enjoyable experience. The two bonuses were 1) the deliciousness of the mochi and 2) Sakura-san’s adorable & perfectly behaved assistant 🐶
Our whole family (ages 14, 18, 20) enjoyed everything about this experience: the brief explanation of the history of mochi, the hands on learning, and the gentle, patient tutelage. We also enjoyed eating the products of our labor!
Sakura was fabulous! She shared the history of Mochi as well as making sure that each of the members of our party were understanding each step of the process of making the Mochi. This experience is a must and you can't have a better teacher than Sakura. She made us feel at home in her house and shared family experiences with us. She even had to go packaging so we could take our sweets with us.

It was a great experience! We learnt to make dango, mochi, dango haiku and matcha tea. It was a total of two hours!! The dango and mochi turned out to be amazing!! Sakura was an amazing person! She was super friendly!! She made us feel warm and comfortable!! Would definitely try more classes next time!!

Sakura-san and her lovely dog Chico-chan were such lovely hosts! My husband and I had the pleasure of being the only participants in this mochi making class- Sakura-san prepared a slideshow to introduce mochi and its significance to the Japanese culture and was so patient while guiding us through the processes of making 2 types of Daifuku and 2 types of Dango. Everything was so tasty and fun! Would definitely recommend to travellers who are looking for an authentic experience and deeper understanding of the Japanese culture
We had a fun time making mochi with Sakura san! Everything was very well done and organized. The location is very easy to access in a great, local neighborhood that you can explore before or after. There are to go boxes - but you might not need them. My boys devoured everything they made, then offered to "help" me eat mine! 🍡

We are a family of 5 with 3 teenagers. We had a ton of fun learning about Japanese sweets and then making them. My kids love doing these classes when they travel, and this was one of their favorites. Easy to find and nice home for hosting as well

I recently participated in a mochi-making cooking class with some of my colleagues from overseas, Singapore, Korea, and Australia. Our instructor, Sakura, spoke English and explained in what occasions Japanese people eat mochi and how it's deeply connected with the Japanese culture. It was very informative and a new experience for me, even though I was born and raised in Japan!
It was great that the Daifuku and Dango we made used ingredients that are readily available abroad, so everyone can recreate them when they go back home. My colleagues all had a wonderful time with the new discoveries and experiences. It was a great team building opportunity for everyone!
Sakura was an amazing teacher! My husband and I had fun at her home making mochi desserts. It was the perfect last activity we did before we headed home after a 2 week vacation in Japan!
