First they gave a 30 min window for pick up and we’re still 20 mins late! The info the office provided about the vehicle was completely incorrect! Terrible van with the smallest plastic covered seats that were sooo uncomfortable. No air circulation at each seat and at the back it was so stuffy and claustrophobic as you couldn’t see out at all! Don’t book with Nordur travel! Our guide’s English was so heavily accented we couldn’t understand his English. We did a tour to the golden circle with Nice travel and it was soooo much better!!!! Much better vehicle and guide and service all around.

My husband and I use Viator services often and have always had good experiences. This was not one of them. We booked this excursion months in advance. Our instructions for pickup seemed simple enough. We were to meet the van at the peer 1/2 hour prior to excursion time. When we departed the ship we were faced with utter chaos. Hundreds of people and hundreds of buses, vans, taxis and private cars all trying to meet up match up without guidance. The only clearly marked tours were the Princess buses. Every other company were jumbled up in the sea of confusion. No signage. No company reps helping people locate their transport. I’ve never seen such confusion. We located one van we thought was ours. It was the right company but for the 0800 tour, ours was 0900. That van was still there at 0830 because it had a flat tire. That driver offered no help except to say “Just wait here until someone shows up.” Not sure how he thought anyone would find us in that mess! Eventually we heard someone in the crowd calling my name and we connected. We joined the small group in the van and departed. The next problem was that the van’s microphone wasn’t working and although the driver tried to speak loud enough for everyone, the van was very noisy and my husband who is hard of hearing did not hear anything the driver said. There were Spanish and English speaking passengers so he had to yell everything twice. I asked him when we first boarded to go over the itinerary for the day. He tried but was interrupted over and over and never got back to the itinerary. In the first 2 hours we had two unexpected stops for a guest that was having GI issues! Evidently the guest knew she was ill and still chose to go on the excursion. This should not have been allowed. If she was contagious we were all potentially exposed yo who knows what. We finally got to our first stop which was Skogafoss Falls about 11:00 am. Knowing we had a full itinerary yet to go I asked the driver how we would get it all done and be back to port by 5 pm? He said we won’t. We will be back at 7 pm! I’m not sure if Princess changed their port times changed after I booked this excursion but obviously we had a big problem. The driver said that there was no way he could get us back by 5 pm. Long story shortened, he assisted us in finding a private car with driver that was available to drive the 2 hours to pick us up and the 2 hours to take us back to port at a great cost to us. We had to agree as we had no other options. This mistake, which very well was mine for not rechecking the tour time against the port time, could have been avoided had we reviewed the itinerary at the start of the excursion. Unfortunately, we never got to see any of Reykjavik except the Falls. Very disappointing.

Regarding the return time, our tour operates according to its published itinerary and duration. As you mentioned in your review, the issue arose because the tour schedule did not align with your cruise ship's port times. We always recommend that cruise passengers carefully verify that the duration of any independently booked excursion is compatible with their ship's schedule before booking. We also understand your frustration about the additional comfort stops. However, as a responsible tour operator, we have a duty to care for all of our guests. We cannot predict when a traveller may become unwell, nor do we have the authority to refuse participation based on a suspected illness. Making brief stops to assist a guest in need is part of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone on board. As for the busy pickup area at the cruise port, this is unfortunately a common situation when multiple cruise ships arrive and thousands of passengers disembark at the same time. While we understand it can be stressful, the organization of the port is outside our control. We are pleased that our driver was ultimately able to locate you and begin the tour. Although your plans had to change, our guide did everything possible to assist you by helping arrange private transportation back to the port so you could make your ship's departure. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best on your future travels.

Amazing scenery and an excellent driver / guide .

A very educational trip with some amazing sites to view and experience . Our driver / guide Carlos has a very engaging relaxed manner. We never felt pushed or pressured to keep to time schedules . Carlos provided lots of information on Iceland and the places we visited mixed with plenty of humour . One of the best tours I’ve done anywhere in the world .
