Itinerary

Your midnight sun tour starts with pickup in Reykjavik. Hop aboard a Land Rover Defender, modified with 40-inch (1-meter) wheels to handle the rugged terrain of Iceland.

Set off toward the Golden Circle, stopping first at Thingvellir National Park, where the Icelandic parliament was founded more than 1,000 years ago. This is also where Europe's and North America's tectonic plates meet and are slowly pulling apart.

Continue to the Geysir geothermal area at Haukadalur, home to Iceland's famous geyser, as well as Strokkur geyser, which is more active—erupting nearly every five minutes. Look for geothermal activity such as steam vents, hot springs, and blue algae while you're here.

Then, head to the last stop on the Golden Circle—Gullfoss waterfall, one of Iceland's most impressive cascades.

Before heading back to the city, find out what your 4WD vehicle can do as your guide takes you on an off-road ride across highlands and glaciers, splashing over rivers, before stopping at Faxi waterfall.

Then, return to Reykjavik, where your tour ends after midnight.
