A brilliant afternoon. Lots going on, all very informative. It’s not just for kids. DO NOT MISS the lava show and ice tunnel, it’s spectacular! I’m not saying any more on that because I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise. There’s a coffee area, a bar, and a cafe and restaurant. There’s also a walkway outside at the top where you can see 360 degrees for miles!

Don't miss PERLAN

Fran_F, Mar 2026
There is so much more than you would expect when you arrived at the museum. Glaciers volcanoes earthquakes Northern Lights... Amazing! Interactive, educational and entertaining activities. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, helpful, very aware of the guests and the guests needs. I would give them a "12" rating on a scale of 1 to 10!!!

Great museum tour! Love the volcano show, ice cave and the northern lights planetarium. Highly recommend.

Amazing Perlan!

JESMALA_D, Mar 2026
The volcano 3D show- words are not enough to describe it...The Aurora show is OK Ok ,since I hv seen a real one in Rejkavick City itself, while walking out to buy some fruits...Museum provides you a knowledge about this stunning country...I wish to visit PERLAN again one day in summer.....winter time it's better to avoid travelling to Iceland if you don't have aurora in mind since it's extremely windy and temperatures go well below the freezing point..

Great place, well curated both fun and informative

Fantastic experience and very well curated and managed. Very interesting and the volcano and northern lights shows are great. Very informative and enjoyable couple of hours.

An excellent museum

Sam_E, Mar 2026
Definitely worth a visit, all been done really well and the views are awesome to sit and enjoy with a coffee and delicious home made cake, and as you do your views change as you slowly revolve - it’s amazing how many dont even realise that’s happening! I went as soon as it opened so it was nice and quiet

Excellent experience

Learn a lot about Iceland stories especially the volcano the arora northern lights this place it’s really awesome!!!

Ok but not worth the money

Eleanor_P, Feb 2026
This was ok. The volcano experience was fun and it was interesting to hear about the volcano and ice history in Iceland but I wouldn’t say it’s worth £40 per person.

Museum Exhibit

Johnny_W, Feb 2026
Good experience to end this amazing trip. Very interesting history on the volcanos, the animals, whales, and icebergs to include the icecaps over the volcano

A great way to spend a few hours!

It was just ok

Michael_G, Feb 2026
A bit disappointing a large section of the museum was dedicated to gift shop and restaurant. The aurora show was dumbed down to the point of limited educational usefulness. The only part worth seeing was the ice cave. Only go as a time filler.

Yaw_K, Jan 2026
I think the museum should have more interactive displays. I thought the new volcano simulator was really cool. Overall, the trip was positive; my only wish was to engage in more physical activity.

Great place for a bad weather day

Autumn_J, Jan 2026
I did not plan enough time here. You could easily spend all day here. If you are short on time, definitely see the volcano shows and go in the ice cave. The planetarium Aurora show is also wonderful although the narration is a bit on the cheesy side.

Great way to explore Iceland on a bad weather day. The new volcano simulator is a fun experience as well as walking through the ice cave

Wonderful experience

Lilin_Z, Dec 2025
Surprisingly good as a small museum, esp the 3D show of volcano! Great experience for my kids 13 and 11.

Good experience

Tim_B, Dec 2025
Interesting, but a bit pricey for what it is. Very educational, but not what I'd expect for paying $50+... and that was a discounted ticket.

First time in Iceland

Camille_H, Nov 2025
Start with the Northern Lights show. It is 30 minutes long and if you are on a time limit like me you will want to experience the show fully. The exhibits are amazing and educational. Mostly read as you go along.

Wow

Denise_B, Nov 2025
We had a wonderful time and learned so much! There are terrific exhibits and the movies are great. I’d recommend it as a must do.

Lots of info in volcanos & glaciers. There's also an ice cave and planaterium

Amylynn_S, Nov 2025
Planateriam, ice cave and observation deck all worth it. We even go to see a new show they're testing. Its like a flyover and was the best part!

spectacular

Joao_H, Nov 2025
It's much more than a museum; it's several experiences in one. I recommend starting around 10 am (if it's winter) and the first thing to do should be to go up to the 4th floor to watch the sunrise! From there, you'll find a combination of interactive museum exhibits, simulators, caves carved into the ice, etc... I also want to highlight the friendliness of all the staff who explained everything to me. Super professional and very attentive. It was well worth it.

This was a fun thing to do on a rainy day! They have a coffee shop, bar and food and a small gift shop.

Perlan is a must do museum for families! 😍

Laura_J, Nov 2025
Perlan is such a fantastic museum, full of information and very interactive. We loved the immersive experiences with the volcano being a real family favourite! The ice cave tunnels were great fun too, gives you a bit of a flavour of what they would be like for real. The Aurora planetarium was a great place to sit back and relax at the end of the visit. All in all it was a great place to visit and well worth the money, I would definitely recommend this as a place to visit if you have children. 🤩❤️

Worth it.

Ragavan_N, Oct 2025
Really informative. The northern lights and volcano show was very relaxing. I’ve cave was cool, bigger than I thought. Nice views from the top floor. Except the food at the upstairs restaurant was very expensive ( then again most of Iceland was expensive)

Excellent

Vikas_K, Oct 2025
This is a non-guided tour. The tour itself was excellent. we got to see a brand new exhibit on the volcanoes which is not yet open to the public. They take you to experience the inside of a volcano crator. I have never seen an exhibit like that. Wonderful.!

Highly recommended

lisa_p, Oct 2025
Really interesting place and beautiful surroundings. Well worth a visit! Enjoyed the ice cave and the volcano experience was amazing.

Experience northern lights, ice cave and volcanos

Milton_C, Oct 2025
Way better than I expected. The combination of northern lights exhibit, ice cave, and the new emersion volcano exhibit represented key features of Iceland. The teaching was done creatively.

good option for a rainy day

Jeanette_R, Oct 2025
It was interesting. Can definitely cover everything in 2 hours. The new "inside a volcano" ride was the highlight for me. Rotating restaurant on top floor was a bonus.

The Perlan Museum is such a unique experience in Reykjavík! What I loved most is that it can really fit any type of visit—you can do a quick walkthrough if you’re short on time, or, like us, take your time exploring and easily spend a couple of hours diving into everything it has to offer. The exhibits are fascinating, interactive, and beautifully done, giving you a real sense of Iceland’s nature and culture. After exploring, we finished our visit with a coffee at the top, which was the perfect way to end the experience while taking in the atmosphere from above. It’s definitely worth adding to your list when you’re in Iceland—especially on an overcast day or one of those slower days in Reykjavík when you want something meaningful but not rushed. The Perlan Museum combines education, creativity, and relaxation all in one, and it left us with a much deeper appreciation for Iceland.
