Andres (our driver) was great. He’s lived his entire life in Reykjavik area and so knew everything. We made several stops to get out and actually explore a bit; one outside the norm to get some ice cream at a little stand. Also, he made special efforts to accommodate one person in our group with mobility issues. That’s above and beyond what we expected. Really nice way to spend the one full day we had in Iceland.

Dear Annette, I am really thankful for so much kind review from very kind and memorable travellers. I hope this travel wouldn´t be our last. Would like to repeat it or find another traveling destination from capital Reykjavik. Regarding the issue of mobility, I have many on that way, and I am glad to do that. Also, my mother is old, and I could imagine how little she would manage to do that kind of tour. So, in all ways, I am not trying to do the best. I am just doing what I am, and I believe it is how it needs to be.

Private tour of the Golden Circle

I was expecting a small group, but in fact it was myself and my partner on a private tour with a very knowledgable and respectful guide. He provided information like the best vantage point for photos as well as general knowledge about every site we visited. He gave us time alone when not in the car so there was never a "third-wheel" feeling. Was pleasantly surprised by the experience and loved the personal attention to detail.

Andres made the day quite memorable.. He went well above and beyond as he helped with locating a lost wallet. The tour was extremely personalized and directed by what we would like to do versus what a scripted tour was. The next time we come back to Iceland, we will be looking Andres up for another tour.

Andres was super committed to our having a great time and he succeeded brilliantly. He made sure we got every photo possible and when we had to dodge the rain we did and then he returned us for our photo shoot. He was also very knowledgeable and it was like being in a class and learning everything about where we were going. He also had a few spots of his own to show us. When we got in the car he was sure to make the point - the day was ours to explore and go as we wanted/perfect way to travel - everything we wanted and everything Andres knew as well. Best guide ever had. If you are booking with Viator in Iceland make sure you ask for a tour with Andres.

The day trip in our case was handled by the company Mercury Grail and it's owner Andres Ivanovic. He arrived at our hotel early and was upbeat and pleasant. Even though the listing says 4x4 Jeep it was an awd Subaru. That was perfectly fine and Andres was a competent driver. One thing that you will discover when visiting Iceland during the winter months is that the weather is extremely changeable and road conditions will vary. Maybe it was because we were of similar age to Andres that we made a connection or it could have been that we were genuinely interested in the country and what we were seeing. He was able to answer our questions and also added his own commentary. The Icelandic horses were also of interest to us and the other party in the car and he made sure to stop at a small roadside group to take photos and get some time to pet them. There was never any question that our enjoyment was paramount to him. He also would accommodate and bathroom or food stops that the group needed. He also contacted us preceding the trip to suggest the best time to depart for the day. Andres is typical of the type of person you meet in Iceland and I highly recommend him as a guide.

Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis für diesen Ausflug stimmt gar nicht. Der Fahrer war freundlich, die Fahrtsehr lang. Wir haben einen Krater, einen Gysir und einen Wasserfall gesehen. Diese Tour hätte man mit einem Mietwagen ohne Allrad für 100 Euro selber besser machen können.
