This Porto cooking class combines eating a 3-course meal with an activity where you can actually learn to make a Portuguese meal from a traditional chef from the area. Once you make your meal, enjoy it with wine, tea, or coffee. You can also upgrade to add a market visit beforehand where you learn how to pick out local ingredients.

We enjoyed going to the market with our chef (I’m sorry I don’t know how to spell his name😞): That was a great experience! He really is a pro in allowing all to participate after explaining and modeling what to do. The recipes were delicious. One of the better cooking classes we have experienced.

We had a great time on this visit to the market and then cooking class. It was lovely to find out about, make and eat local traditional food and wine. Hugo was helpful and funny, and meeting others, cooking together was a great afternoon. A heads up that with the market it's 4 hours, not 3 as Viator says.

Great fun Hugo was very funny and interesting and a very good chef! great group of people all different nationalities and we all each did a little bit to complete a delicious 3 course, traditional Portuguese meal. If you have time do this workshop if you dont have time, make time !

This was easily one of the best experiences in all our years of traveling. Our host/chef/instructor Hugo, managed to take a group of six people of different ages and backgrounds and not only show us how to properly prepare a wonderful meal, but to have a great time getting to know him and each other. Can’t say enough about the whole experience, including our trip with Hugo to the market to select and purchase ingredients for the meal. Great to see him interact with the vendors. Thanks for a memorable day!

We really enjoyed our cooking class with Afanso! He took us to visit the Porto Market prior to the class, showing us around all of his favorite vendors. In class, Afonso did a great job of explaining what we were going to make and how each of us would participate. The resulting dishes were wonderful and we enjoyed them with a glass of wine once they were all prepared. Afonso was very engaging with all of the participants, his personality made the class a joy to attend. We highly recommend booking this experience while you’re in Porto!

We met at the workplace and then walked to the market. That was really nice and even though I’ve been to other markets this one was really nice. We then walked back to the work shop/cooking class room. Then we prepared a three course meal by ourselves with Afonso’s direction. Btw, Afonso was truly great. Very knowledgeable and calm with a terrific sense of humor. We made a great soup followed by a cod dish (with onion, garlic, olive oil and cheese. I had seconds. That was followed by a delicious almond tart. I’m not a desert guy but this was great. Lots of wine, water, coffee and port. I would take this cooking class again.

What an incredible experience! Paulo was such a terrific & knowledge chef & host. We signed up for the market tour where we picked all of the ingredients we were going to cook with. He took his time explaining everything. The class was very hands-on, everyone participated in some way and the food & wine were delicious. You will not leave hungry. We cooked up a 3 course traditional meal. It was truly fabulous.

This experience blew us away. The chef was so fun, personable, and educated. He led a very interactive class that felt very comfortable and exciting. I felt like I was dining with good friends by the end of the experience. The market tour was amazing too!

Wonderful and welcoming cooking environment. Our Chef Afonso was amazing. He answered all our questions and we learned many cooking techniques that will serve me well in my home kitchen. Started at the market, came back and cooked a traditional Portuguese meal. Chef Afonso was wonderful, he kept the class involved and entertained. We all learned a lot!

This experience was amazing. The chef encouraged each of us to be hands on, even a 10 year old boy from another family. Everyone meshed very well and the food was very tasty once we had it all prepared. We learned a lot, talked a lot, laughed alot and ate a lot. I would highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys time in the kitchen and learned new dishes.

Great food and great fun with Chef Hugo. The instructor was clear and had a great personality and made sure that dietary restrictions were considered when preparing the menu. I hands down recommend this class.

We enjoyed our cooking class in Porto. Wish the chef had introduced himself and gave us his background. Also would of been nice to learn more of the history or tradition of the food we were preparing - but we did enjoy our time in the kitchen and the chef’s helper was a good assistant when we needed more direction. Enjoyed meeting the others in our group of 16!

A most fun, adventurist, tasty and fulfilling! Our chef Hugo was funny and helpful. The meals were made with love and excitement by all of the group. He kept us engaged and eager to participate. The food was awesomely delicious! Highly recommend taking this class.

Our cooking experience was with Hugo! It was great. The class was casual and relaxed but so informative and super fun. We had lots of time to be hands on with the prep and cooking but also enough time to drink wine, enjoy the food we prepared, and relax. Would definitely recommend! It has been a highlight of our trip.

We chose to add the market experience which added to the understanding of the dishes we were preparing. Hugo was so informative, sharing tips for the selection of food, cooking process, and Portuguese culture behind the dishes we prepared. The result was an excellent dining experience of traditional Portuguese food that we feel confident in preparing. Super value!!!

Jugo's market tour and class was very instructional. We each helped with the prep and were put in charge of various dishes. I helped with the Caldo Verde and it was great to see how the chorizo helped to impart a lot of its essence into the broth. I also was taught an immersion blender trick that I will definitely use at home.
The family style meal worked out very well and we were well fed. I'm definitely glad that I chose this class over just a Pastel de Nata class :)

Our family of 4, including two young adults, had a great time shopping and cooking with Hugo! The market was a delight for the eyes and the taste buds, and cooking with our family and some newly made friends was fun (although not as much fun as eating our typical Portuguese meal). The food was delicious, and we will definitely make it again at home.

Wonderful cooking workshop. There were a total of 3 persons (including me) joining the workshop. Chef Hugo was entertaining and engaged everyone in the cooking. Chef was also very generous in giving us free flow red, white and port wine.

From start to finish, the cooking experience was GREAT! We enjoyed the stroll through the market to buy a few ingredients and then it was back to the workshop kitchen. Our host was extremely organized and knowledgeable. We were involved in all parts of the cooking process. Dining was fun with lively conversation. Our host went above and beyond and spent hours with us.
