This experience was amazing. The chef encouraged each of us to be hands on, even a 10 year old boy from another family. Everyone meshed very well and the food was very tasty once we had it all prepared. We learned a lot, talked a lot, laughed alot and ate a lot. I would highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys time in the kitchen and learned new dishes.

Wonderful and welcoming cooking environment. Our Chef Afonso was amazing. He answered all our questions and we learned many cooking techniques that will serve me well in my home kitchen. Started at the market, came back and cooked a traditional Portuguese meal. Chef Afonso was wonderful, he kept the class involved and entertained. We all learned a lot!

Overview

This Porto cooking class combines eating a 3-course meal with an activity where you can actually learn to make a Portuguese meal from a traditional chef from the area. We enjoyed going to the market with our chef (I’m sorry I don’t know how to spell his name😞): That was a great experience! He really is a pro in allowing all to participate after explaining and modeling what to do. The recipes were delicious. One of the better cooking classes we have experienced.

What an incredible experience! Paulo was such a terrific & knowledge chef & host. We signed up for the market tour where we picked all of the ingredients we were going to cook with. He took his time explaining everything. The class was very hands-on, everyone participated in some way and the food & wine were delicious. You will not leave hungry. We cooked up a 3 course traditional meal. It was truly fabulous.

We enjoyed our cooking class in Porto. Wish the chef had introduced himself and gave us his background. Also would of been nice to learn more of the history or tradition of the food we were preparing - but we did enjoy our time in the kitchen and the chef’s helper was a good assistant when we needed more direction. Enjoyed meeting the others in our group of 16!

Our cooking experience was with Hugo! It was great. The class was casual and relaxed but so informative and super fun. We had lots of time to be hands on with the prep and cooking but also enough time to drink wine, enjoy the food we prepared, and relax. Would definitely recommend! It has been a highlight of our trip.

Do this class instead of a Pastel de Nata class!

Jugo's market tour and class was very instructional. We each helped with the prep and were put in charge of various dishes. I helped with the Caldo Verde and it was great to see how the chorizo helped to impart a lot of its essence into the broth. I also was taught an immersion blender trick that I will definitely use at home. The family style meal worked out very well and we were well fed. I'm definitely glad that I chose this class over just a Pastel de Nata class :)

Fun and delicious times - cooking with Hugo

Our family of 4, including two young adults, had a great time shopping and cooking with Hugo! The market was a delight for the eyes and the taste buds, and cooking with our family and some newly made friends was fun (although not as much fun as eating our typical Portuguese meal). The food was delicious, and we will definitely make it again at home.

Wonderful cooking workshop. There were a total of 3 persons (including me) joining the workshop. Chef Hugo was entertaining and engaged everyone in the cooking. Chef was also very generous in giving us free flow red, white and port wine.

GREAT Cooking Experience

From start to finish, the cooking experience was GREAT! We enjoyed the stroll through the market to buy a few ingredients and then it was back to the workshop kitchen. Our host was extremely organized and knowledgeable. We were involved in all parts of the cooking process. Dining was fun with lively conversation. Our host went above and beyond and spent hours with us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our market tour and cooking workshop with Nuno. We learned a lot about the local cuisine and tasted some new foods. The dishes we made were delicious...so much so that we have already made some of them several times during our remaining time in Portugal. The mix of fun, food preparation and conversation was perfect! There was plenty of food and wine, so we left completely full and satisfied. We appreciated the chef's patience with us since we got lost at the market. We would definitely recommend this cooking class.

La experiencia estuvo muy bien. Primero vistamos el mercado de Bolhao, que es un lugar que no te puedes perder si vas a Oporto. Luego, el chef Hugo nos explicó las recetas perfectamente y nos encantaron. Además, el grupo era muy animado y lo pasamos muy bien, tanto en la cocina como durante la comida. Muy recomendable.
