Although small in size, Portugal has a rich and varied gastronomy, based on the Mediterranean diet but with several influences. In this Cooking Class you will learn to prepare traditional Portuguese dishes based upon typical recipes. Menus are always seasonal and incorporate local products wherever possible.You will prepare and enjoy a four course meal: appetizer, soup, main course and dessert. After the class you can enjoy a well deserved meal with the dishes you prepared, paired with different Portuguese wines. What better way to learn about Portuguese culture and the vibrant gastronomic history of the city of Porto than Canto Cooking's Chef Led Market tour of the emblematic Bolhao market ? After refueling on a fresh nata and barista coffe, its down to business in the kitchen where the chef will demonstrate the dishes and then its your turn ! Vegetarians and Vegans are welcome - whilst the majority of Tapiscos culture is meat and fish based, we will cover at least one or two plant based dishes too. Finally - enjoy lunch together in our Orangerie eating the fruits of your labours with a glass of Douro Valley wine from our guest vineyard whilst chatting about your experiences.

This workshop will be accompanied by good conversation, good music and fun. In the end, you will be able to shine with your friends and family. For families with children, a private workshop can be scheduled. Special conditions for groups of 10 or more people.

This cooking lesson will take place in the kitchen OF FONTE SANTA one of the last owned DE rural on the slope of Villa Nova DE Gaia! Our "chef" will prepare some of the traditional Portuguese snacks and dishes...as well as the cream milk or aletria for dessert! If you want to participate in the preparation or confection you have at your disposal the fountain Santa! At the end, enjoy lunch on the terrace OF the FONTE SANTA house with a fantastic view over the port! In addition to the green wines of Minho and Douro, it will be served DA Limonada da Quinta, water and soft drinks. Good appetite!

After deciding on what to cook with help from your friendly local guide, you’ll visit a supermarket and small garden to pick up everything you need to get started. Then your guide will take you to their own house to do the cooking. Enjoy fantastic Portuguese wine while you cook and snack on appetizers such as ham, cheese, olives and salad. After finishing your meal with your newfound friend you’ll be served dessert and traditional Port wine.

The class focuses on preparing a 100% plant-based custard filling and the baking process. The puff pastry is pre-prepared, and you’ll receive an exclusive house-made recipe to recreate it at home, as puff pastry requires several hours to be ready for use. The session also includes a short and accessible introduction to the history of the Pastel de Nata in Portugal, from its origins in Lisbon to its evolution into one of the country’s most famous pastries, with insight into how this traditional recipe can be successfully adapted to a vegan version without losing its essence. Each participant will prepare several vegan Pastéis de Nata, which can be enjoyed on site or taken away. A transport box is included for your pastries. Throughout the workshop, enjoy Port wine, juice, water, coffee, and sweet and savory snacks, in a relaxed and social atmosphere. At the end of the session, you’ll leave with the confidence, and the recipe, to recreate this vegan Portuguese classic at home.

In this day we will drive you to meet the owners and wine maker of the wine estates, and with them make a guided tour of their wine presses, cellars and taste the oldest wines present in the family generations. So your day starts with a short pedestrian walk over the bridge over the Douro River and then we will visit a special wine producer, a family wine estate with unique characteristics. Here you can taste some regional products as well as taste very old Port wine. After that, we will go down the river to see the road that was naturally designed on the banks of the Douro. We will have a unique gastronomy experience with a privileged view over the Douro in DOC Restaurant. The private boat trip up the river towards Pinhão will have some surprises and will be a moment to relax. In this small village we will visit a producer who will let us know the family history and his legacy by tasting the most exclusive wines.
