Nicely paced out and friendly guide. I enjoyed the convenience of booking, meetup stop and the overall travel very much. I would recommend this to my friends.

A very basic offering. The guide lacked enthusiasm and, in fact, seemed annoyed at questions. He offered the bare minimum explanation of things that one could easily have read online. The fact that no one gathered around him for extra questions suggested this.
This was such a lovely day trip, the journey was pleasant and there was a little history along the way. Segovia is stunning, the tour guide gave clear instructions both in Spanish and English. There were plenty of photo opportunities and also free time to explore. The stop at Avila seemed short but I felt like we toured the best part. It would have been nice to have a little more time and information here. Otherwise highly recommended!!

Thank you for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the trip, our guide’s explanations, and the opportunity to explore Segovia and Ávila. We appreciate your feedback about the time in Ávila and will keep it in mind. We hope to welcome you again soon!
It was an amazing hot day. Lots of walking but we didn’t feel rushed. Our guide was bi-lingual, knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful. Long day wear comfortable shoes and bring water in you go in may.

Dear customer,
Thank you very much for sharing your pleasant experience with us. We hope to welcome you back soon.
Kind regards
Could not understand the bilingual guide. Offered no value. At end of Segovia trip numerous tour group members were at meeting point at designated time and tour guide leader was not there. This tour provided safe transportation between Madrid, Segovia and Avila. The safe ride was the only paid service we received.

We were a family of 5 which included my 81 year old father. The tour itself was very informative and interesting. The aqueduct was amazing and bigger than I remember the last time I was there. The cathedral in Segovia was absolutely beautiful. My daughters were able to walk to the castle but due to the steepness of the road to get to it, I thought it best to stay with my father. We walked around and did some window shopping.
Avila was just as impressive. With an 81 year old, I think it was perfect enough for him. There was a lot of walking but not too much that he couldn’t do it. He was able to rest in between each city on the comfortable coach bus.

Dear customers,
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are delighted to hear that the tour was enjoyable for all members of your family. There is much to see in both destinations, but time is limited, so the itinerary offers the essentials and is accessible to most of our clients.
Best regards from the entire VPT Tours team.
Great views, insightful information, good food....long day lots of walking, but well WORTH IT! First the aquaducts, what an engineering marvel and then there's Avila what a spectacular walled city.

Thank you very much for your kind feedback.
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that you were able to appreciate such remarkable sites as the Roman aqueduct and the historic walled city of Ávila. It is always rewarding to know that the combination of cultural insight, scenery, and local gastronomy made the experience worthwhile for you, even if it was a long and active day.
Your comments are greatly appreciated and will be shared with our team. We hope to welcome you again on another excursion in the future.
Kind regards.
We spent a lovely day in Segovia and Avila. Each city is rich with history. Our guide, Ahinoa, was extremely knowledgeable and provided a lot of interesting information. We highly recommend this tour. Just enough time in each location.
Our journey started out delayed due to the late arrival of our tour guide, according to some of the other members on the tour. We hit a snafu right away when we requested an over the ear headphone due to some hearing aids my friend has. Those went ignored and were dismissed by a simple we do not speak English. No other accommodations or suggestions were offered. Our tour guide seem to be in a little bit of a funk which would play out later in the tour. We booked an English speaking tour and I believe we were the only native English speakers on the tour. Several people who were bilingual were telling us that we got about one word in English for every 20 in Spanish. At this point, we really felt like we were missing out. Perhaps Carlos would be better suited for all Spanish-speaking tours. His accent was also very thick and it was very difficult to understand the words that we did get in English. In addition, it was difficult to hear and very crowded in the piazza when he gave instructions. This could’ve been avoided by giving us information while we were on the bus for an hour. Two of our tour group members did not make the return. I believe in part this was likely due to poor communication. There was definitely a mood on the way home as our tour guide, Carlos, ripped all of the headphones out of the sets and threw them on the floor and seat seats of the bus. We have several other tours booked with Viator and I have had several in the past that have all gone extremely well. Looking forward to a more successful adventure next time. While I would not recommend a tour with Carlos in the future, we will continue to enjoy your services elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We have reviewed the situation with our operational team, and we would like to clarify a few important points.
The tour departed on time as scheduled, and the guide assigned is a fully accredited bilingual professional. There were additional English-speaking participants on the tour, and we have not received any similar concerns from other passengers regarding the language balance or overall communication during the activity.
We also note your comments regarding the guide’s accent. Please understand that accents are a natural part of any language and do not reflect a lack of qualification or ability to conduct the tour in English.
Regarding the headphones, we regret any misunderstanding. We provide standard audio equipment for all participants, as specified in the service description. For any specific accessibility requirements, we always recommend contacting us prior to booking so that we can confirm what equipment or alternatives are available, as these requests cannot always be guaranteed on the day of the tour.
We appreciate your feedback and will take your comments into consideration as part of our ongoing service review.
Kind regards.
Ainhoa studied history and it shows. She knows.... EVERYTHING. Fantastic tour guide. Informative and personable.
Great bus driving by Noelea as well, as she saved us from other drivers who just like to try to cut off buses, all while driving a 6spd. Unheard of in America!
I recommend adding Avila over staying in Segovia all day. Both are incredible!
Gracias!
The bus was old and not very comfortable. Also, the driver kept turning the A/C off and then on.
The audio quality for the guide was poor. Often we could not understand.
The explanations in Spanish took twice as long as English leaving us to believe the guide was leaving some info out
This experience was as advertised. We were able to see Segovia and Avila in one day. The tour guide and bus were prompt at all pickups. The use of radio for the audio on the tour was helpful. We appreciated the mix of formal tour and free exploration.
It was a relaxing trip for us though there was a lot of walking and a lbit of climbing. The Avila visit was very cold despite the weather of the day was around 16°C. It felt like 4°C instead as the guide told us Avila was the coldest place in Spain. The visit on top of the wall needed a bit of climbing due to the wall steps, not suitable for the elderly. So if you don't want to climb, don't take the package with extra entry fee. The Segovia visit had a lot more walking especially the last part when you had to walk to the pick up point. But luckily it was a down hill walk! Just a word of caution for the ladies, the toilet visit will take a very long time as there is only one toilet at the last visiting place. So if you need to go, go as soon as your arrival there! Overall, the tour was a good one despite the negative points as mentioned.
Great tour! Learned so much. Ainhoa was a great tour guide. She was great about speaking in English & Spanish. Highly recommend.
Segovia was beautiful! Disappointed the Alcazar de Avila was in the photos but we weren’t taken there. Our tour guide was less than enthusiastic, which took away from the tour. We had a better time off on our own. The bus blew a tire and nothing was ever really mentioned.
Full day trip to histics sites, such as, 2000 year-old aqueduct and waal city of Avila might have been exciting and educational, but everything depends on the tour guide. Our tour guide seemed to be not interested in sharing information a lot. He just delivered verry basic information. which made tour boring and not interesting.
Great trip to experience the beautiful cities of Sergovia and Avila. The guide was excellent, very informative and interesting. There was enough time to wander round the places at leisure which we appreciated.
Only downsides were the lack of air conditioning on the coach (it was broken, despite being advertised as having it) and the front door to the coach was not functioning. We also arrived back in Madrid almost 90 minutes later and are not sure why. Otherwise a great day out.
Great day trip from Madrid to see two towns built around Roman Aqueduct and within the best preserved medieval city walls I’ve ever seen. Great walking day and tour stayed on schedule. You may consider buying either the cathedral tour in Segovia or the wall tour in Ávila. I did neither and still had a blast walking around alone. Also, got me back to Madrid by 6:30 PM so I could still spend time that day in the city.
Amazing experience!!! Tamara so knowledgeable, and concern about all the members of the tour !!! So on point
Two great cities are visited with an abundance of historical and cultural sites.
9 hours is a long time for a tour but it is delivered at a very gentle pace.
The audio system needs attention as there were lots of crackles; I frequently gave up listening to the narratives.
The two cities were great and we had a wonderful time. The only issue was that our tour guide was under par. We have been on 100+ day tours, and this was at the bottom of our list given the guide.
We learned little about the sites and found our tour book more enlightening. The whisper units had static and only one ear pierce worked on one of our sets,
so we could hear our guide Michelle but couldn't find her as she blended in with the crowd.
She did put up an umbrella on a few occasions so we could find her to ask a question. Most bus trips of an hour plus length include some informational talks about the history of the area.
👋
At departure we were separated in 2 groups, Spanish and English speakers, in 2 SEPERATE COACHES! In Segovia, we, English speakers were excellently given a guided tour by Elena, however at Avila, Spanish and English speakers were joined together in one group, and Alberto, tried, without success, to give us the Avila tour, both to Spanish and English speakers, ALLTOGETHER ! Let's just say that the English translated parts of the Avila guided tour were not as illustrative as the Spanish parts!

Dear customers,
The tour operations are developed seeking the comfort of the clients. We are sorry that you in particular did not like it, but we have not received any other negative comments about it.
Anyway, thank you very much for choosing us.
Kind regards
Because of this tour we were able to see the amazing monunents of two historic cities we would not have been able to do otherwise. It is a long day, but well worth it.

Dear Jim,
Thank you for your kind review.
Best regards
The guide was kind and knowledgeable but due to the tour company setting up multiple different activities for every group it was very disorganized. We had to rush through each city and try to catch the information with different languages. The group was huge with 60 people with one guide in the first city. I am surprised everyone made it back to the bus because there was not much direction. It was more like a self guided tour with transportation.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
We regret that this is your impression of the tour, but everything went according to plan.
In the future, we recommend reading the excursion descriptions before booking. The entire staff was available to answer any questions, including the guide, of course
Kind regards
Our tour left without us. We were told we would get a refund in 10 minutes, so I immediately booked another tour. The first tour left without 30 of us, and then we were denied a refund. Viator is a disgraceful company. I work for a huge corporation, and I am sharing my experience there. The tour I did go on was terrible. The tour guide was not knowledgeable at all, and it was a lame experience, where we were left to our own exploring.
I hope your company does not survive, because you have no right treating people the way you do. Terrible, terrible memory.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Dear customer,
We strive daily to provide the best service, which wouldn't be possible without the punctuality of our clients, who are the vast majority. Of course, we understand that unforeseen events can occur, and whenever possible, we try to provide alternatives. There are many testimonials to attest to this. We regret that this wasn't the case for you.
In any case, we have made the necessary inquiries and can only confirm that the tour took place without any incidents.
Best regards.
The tour of the towns were good but it was mostly in Spanish- the candy tour was a waste of time when we could have explored more

Saw many concerning reviews so had low expectations. The trip ended up being a good experience. Bilingual tour guide did his best to translate to English (guests kept asking for translation), we were a group of 25-30 and the bus rides were smooth and comfortable. Segovia and Ávila are beautiful cities!

Dear Lucy,
We really appreciate your kind review.
Hopefully, we will welcome back on board in the future.

I enjoyed the tour except that 90% of the guided tour is in Spanish but it's OK. Samuel is our guide and he's a good guide. No complaints.

Michelle the guide was terrible as she did not explain a lot of the sight that were seen and seen to doing it for the job. What an aweful experience

Need to have more time in Alvia. Have mini water on board sell or include. Or just sell water. Ear plugs and listen box should be done on the bus. We wasted 30 min getting ready to tour testing multiple times. Not organized. Also Patrica (a guest ) was 20 min late first stop and second stop. Had only 15 min in the second city bc of that. Very much tell them to leave them there. So incredibly rude of her. Love the Segovia. Would recommend it for entire day.
